We spent two nights at Sulur Guesthouse and must let others know about our great experience. The room was very good, kitchen well equipped and clean. We needed a little extra service which was delivered with a smile and without extra charge. Highly recommended.

Very clean, newly furnished guesthouse. There are great beds and giant TVs (which my daughter certainly enjoyed). And beautiful views. Shared kitchen with coffee facility. Easy on site parking. Had a great stay. Oh..and top linens. The only drawback is that it is on a busy street corner. But Akureyri is very quiet at night.

This was my least favourite place that I stayed in Iceland. We had come from an amazing apartment at the same price, which was so much nicer. Stairs leading up to the door, we didn't see anyone as we arrived late. Shoes need to be taken off by the door. The room looked clean, but very basic. The bed was way too soft, felt like a water bed and the cushion had no support. The other cushions did not have removable cases, I didn't want to use them as I knew they would not be washed. The bedding had a strange smell to it, which I didn't like. The bathroom, clean, but basic. The hot water smelt like sulphur, I'm sure that's a thing with the area though. I hated the hand wash. The kitchen wasn't in our room and is shared. I wouldn't really call these apartments if I'm honest, if you're room doesn't have a kitchen then seems weird calling it that. Load chavs shouting outside a lot of the night and noise from other guests, not very quiet. Not worth the price comparing it to where we had stayed previously, but okay for one nights stay.

This was probably our least favorite guest house we stayed at in Iceland. It was just basic with beds and a small bathroom. The rooms are clean and simple. There wasn't any seating in our room, just the beds. The satellite TV really on had a few channels that worked and the kitchenette was shared and on a different level. There was no laundry room for the guesthouse visitors [actually this was the case throughout Iceland]. We did find a tiny grocery store down the street. As others have mentioned, you have to leave your shoes at the front entrance, but that is quite common in Iceland. It didn't feel all that private to me, so I'd probably stay somewhere else if I return to Akureyri.
