We spent a couple of nights here on our Ring Road Drive. It was adequate for our purposes. Our room was on the 3rd floor--as far as i can tell, there's no elevator so be prepared to lug your luggage up the several floors. Check-in is all online/automatic. We go a code by email/text for our room at 14:00 the day of our arrival. There was no key or card--rather a code. As others have said, the rooms are small especially if you have big luggage. It worked for us. We could step over or around the one suitcase that was on the floor. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We got two good nights rest. Our room was quiet as it was at the back of the hotel--no external noise. We could hear a couple in another room talking though. Room layout was a bit quirky--we had a little desk area that was used for tea/coffee making. The hotel is located towards the edge of town as one heads out of town in a north-easterly direction. As you exit the hotel you face the fjord with views of boats and the occasional plane landing at the airport. It's a five minute walk to the restaurant area and also the Botanic Gardens. You can go whale watching from the pier that's two minutes away. We did. Parking is free and on the street in front of the hotel. We did not eat at the hotel so I can't comment on food. The wifi was free and fast.

I don’t expect much at this price but the hotel was below expectations in almost every way. Staffers were unfriendly - sullen for the most part. Room was so small that even though we only had carryon bags there was no place for them and no place to sit other than the bed. (A stool next to a one-foot deep shelf was useless.) Shower was tiny and it was impossible to use without drenching the floor. Small window (we had “upgraded” to a sea view) didn’t provide enough ventilation.

We stayed 1 night at hotel Akureyri. The hotel is very well located, beautifully decorated and very clean. Our room was very small but had it all for 1 night stay. Breakfast is simple. The place is quite which we loved.

The room was so tiny! in forth floor with no elevator, the window was facing a view of constructions, we ordered a double bed but there were 2 small beds, we asked for another room but there wasn’t any so although we knew we wouldn’t find any other hotel in town at this time we talked to the manager by phone and told her we want to leave and get the refund. She agreed to that and asked us to tell the boy that was on shift to do the cancellation . He was very nice but told us he can’t do it and only she can, so she will do it in the morning And that we shouldn’t worry, because that is the procedure. We left and talked to the lady in the morning. She said she would talk to booking and Ask them to refund us the money. Ever since she avoided talking to us and denies she agreed we could leave and get the refund . It’s our third time in Iceland people were always decent until this disappointing experience

Tiniest room and bathroom we have been in. Two people and suitcases barely fit. Hard to maneuver. Limited ventilation (small window tilted out) so hot and stale air. And when open- room noisy due to street noise so hard to sleep. Comfortable bed. Nice view if on sea side.
