As a solo traveller, you usually get the worst room in the hotel. For the price of a single room in other Akuryeri hotels, I was able to get a superior double room at Centrum Hotel.

Not sure why it’s listed as a hostel here, I had a huge room with double bed and private bathroom. Everything was perfectly clean, decent water pressure and even with a room facing the street - light and noise weren’t a problem (especially with four hour of daylight a day!).

Staff were friendly, breakfast was tasty but could have had some more local produce and variation and the restaurant downstairs was excellent.

Sure I’d have liked tea and coffee facilities in my room and a Tv that had more than one channel but for a value, 3* base to explore this amazing area of the world, it was great.

Don't let the title of 'hostel' fool you, you can get a decent sized room for yourself without having to share with other travelers. Located right in the downtown/touristy area, which was perfect, with one of those famous hotdog stands right across from us! Shops and restaurants were abundant on the street we were situated, which was perfect as we arrived somewhat later and had less time to explore Akureyri. Room was very clean, and breakfast was included. All in all, would stay here again for sure. :)

Great guesthouse located right in the heart of Akureyri with access to shops, restaurants, and pleasant walks throughout the city. Numerous parking accommodations nearby as well, with friendly staff explaining the process. The guesthouse itself is also attached to a restaurant for those wanting to dine without traveling too far, and an elevator in the back of the restaurant up to the rooms.

The interior of the guesthouse to the rooms themselves were very clean and modernized, with cute quotes adorning the walls. I had a great view over the city streets as well from my room. Very pleasant for a one night stop during my Ring Road trip. Takk!

We stayed here 1 night in July 2022 (called Centrum Hotel). The private room itself was nice and comfortable however a bit of noise from the street. There was a communal kitchen and small sitting area near the elevator.
We arrived late afternoon and followed the instructions to check in and receive key at the bar. This was a very busy time with bar customers that we were not able to easily get someone's attention to request check in. Shouldn't be so difficult to check in to hotel/hostel. No one explained how to get to elevator, join wifi etc. A phone call to the number listed on our booking eventually helped receive answers.

The hotel was excellent. We got caught in a blizzard leaving Akureyri and found the hotel on booking.com. Nice smaller restaurant with an unbelievable langostine (sp?) pasta dish. When we were checking out, the elevator broke down. We had all 8 of our suitcases and my wife's rolling walker in the room (to reorganize from two days of shopping in Akureyri). The hotel manager and assistant carried all 8 bags down in the time it took me to get the car from parking. Very friendly.

We were told the previous day that breakfast would be between 10 and 12. When we showed up at 10, we were let in by the staff. However, the manager then came to us and started shouting to our faces. We were screamed at and called 'liars' by her. When we tried to explain ourselves she would cut us off and screamed "no" repeatedly.

That manager was very aggressive in her demeanor and even got my partner to tears.

This isn't "bad service" anymore, this is harassment. Centrum Hotel managed to make their client cry. What an achievement.

I have been in a lot of countries in my life, but something like this has never happened. Avoid this place at all costs!

The rooms are also in a terrible state and very unhygienic (see attached pictures).

Centrum is the perfect place to stay, right in the heart of Akureyri. Easy walking distance to several top restaurants and coffee shops. Close to the waterfront for your nautical adventures. Would recommend the P1 parking lot for easiest payment options. Limited free parking on the street between 1600-0900. Kitchen and Bar serve excellent food at reasonable (for Iceland!) prices. Rooms are not large, but very clean and functional. It’s only a bed!

Super clean and comfy room. The service from the staff was excellent. There were five of us, including a baby, and the lady at the front desk did everything for us; extra towels, baby crib, sheets. Highly recommend this place.

Worst place in Iceland, the staffs are extremely rude and care less, they got annoyed when you need help and check in, and when you a girl and carry a 30kg suitcase, they don’t tell you there is an elevator when You really can not find in this weird place and they just watch you carry the heavy suitcase and climbed up to the top floor. I hope their boss see this comment and see how the staffs really work here with this crazy attitude. 💩💩💩💩 will never come back.

We have been highly surprised about this comfy guesthouse.
The rooms are pretty big and the bathroom is also verz modern and nice.
Then there is a kitchen which is shared used and some tables for sitting .
I highly recommend this place. Super nice
