We did not stay, but planned to eat while we did our laundry. The food was fabulous! I had the smoked salmon on a pita with spinach, hard boiled eggs, and avocado sauce. My son had the burger with mushrooms, gouda cheese and bernaise sauce. The potato wedges that came with it were also delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was casual, cheerful and fun. The public laundry machine was broken, so they did our laundry in the staff machine for the same price (1900 kr for a big load, wash and dry).

I want to rate this place with 6th ⭐️!
This place deserves it! We are cycle tourers, being on the road for 6 months now, through Europe. We needed a day off from the bikes and pick this location as our budget would certainly not allow anything else. So our expectation where nowhere but to be out of the tent. That place is immaculately clean. Everywhere. The staff is very accommodating and offered us a good secured place for our bikes. They have a restaurant /bar on the street floor, very cozy and with excellent food for reasonable price. So good that even locals are seen around. We had a twin room on the top floor and it was so quiet that we slept in. We were there in early September, the peak season is over, so the kitchen facilities were fully accessible. It may be a little bit more difficult if the hostel is fully booked with only one stove and one sink, though. But otherwise plenty of ustensiles/plates/pots and a big table to share your meal with other guests. Bathrooms and showers in early morning and mid afternoon were impeccable!. They must clean more than once/day. A definitely excellent place to take a break from the road or to use as a base camp to explore around.

My husband and I needed to get some laundry done from our 2 week trip in Iceland. The hotel we were staying at recommended this located. When we arrived, we were told their washing machines were broken! This was not good news for us. Luckily they offered to do our laundry with their big machines and it was be a service. The cost was 900 krona to wash and 900 to dry ($13 roughly) which is a great price in Iceland! We were told it would take about 3 hours. Melkur assisted us with getting our laundry done. When we arrived back he told us that the washing machine had an issue and all our clothes smelled burned. He offered to wash our clothes all over again because he said he wouldn’t feel right giving us clothes that smelled burned. We appreciated his honesty and he was so apologetic and offered us a free drink. He went above and beyond and made sure that our clothes were well taken care of and clean! After receiving our clothes, the burn smell was not even noticeable and we are just thankful he took the time to do this for us (as he was still running around like crazy being a waiter in the cafe). 100% recommend this location for laundry and to grab a drink!

Room Tip: The place was very busy around 8:00pm. It stayed busy until we left around midnight.

Nice location in Akureyri main street.
This place provides each guest the key tags to entering the room.
The washrooms are spacious and clean.
There are restaurants on the first floor and the breakfast are charged per person.

The beds are not in very good shapes however. All the guards in our rooms are broken, the metal pieces are broken. Feels very unsafe to be hold on and to sleep on the top bunk especially for kids.

We stumbled across this gem whilst looking for a place to eat. We thought we would just get a drink and make use of the WiFi and do some research on the restaurants in the area. Luckily it was happy hour and the price of drinks was very reasonable (as you may know Iceland can be very expensive). Whilst browsing I noticed the menus and the food looked great (and well priced) so we decided to settle in and eat here. When the food came it didn't disappoint. Great quality and not what you'd expect from a hostel. Staff were very friendly and it had a cosy laid-back vibe, would definitely recommend.

I stayed here for one night, staff extremely helpful. I had an issue with my room mate who was a bit odd and was a bit rude to me so I ended up staying downstairs and going out a lot but I must say this place was safe and clean and comfortable so I would recommend it. Showers we clean, kitchen clean, lovely atmosphere in the bar, security seemed good, toilets really clean, cant imagine any problems with this place and excellent price.

It was clean. They advertise a kitchen, there is NO KITCHEN. I expected to save money on food for this reason, and there is not even a microwave or kettle at all. No discount in the restaurant for breakfast or dinner, nothing. Also advertised for a laundry room, and there is none. The workers at the desk were very nice, but the new owners suck. It feels like they are scamming people to come and spend more money in the restaurant for just okay food that is very expensive.

We didn't stay here, only ate but the hostel looked good to (could only see the kitchen and the bathroom was clean).
Anyway, the food was awesome. Supposedly the arctic char was fabulous (I wouldn't know, I'm allergic) and while the burger was very good I watched another friend eat the chicken burger and I totally should have gone for that instead. And the fries (actually potato wedges) are excellent and served with some excellent garlic sauce dip. Yum yum.

I came by with my Havanese to meet my friends at bar.
Before walking in there was no sign that dogs are not allowed.
We walked in and my dog was sitting in my lap for all the time we spent there and I looked and staff and bartender to see if they see that I have came in with dog and if it’s okey. Nobody approached me and all staff saw I had dog with me.
After 15-20 minutes when I’m in middle of beer rude staff member approached me to ask me to leave because dogs are not allowed.
I asked why She did not asked to leave with second I came in and she just said I’m sorry you need to leave.
On all my questions all I got was: sorry you need to leave.

During all time we spent there my dog spent only in my lap and she did not bark or annoyed everyone.

I am really disappointed how staff acted and that there are no clear signs when I walked in.

So we’ll all know that things are expensive in Iceland but it’s worth it. This place is a very welcoming bar and do not be put off by ‘backpackers’ as it’s all ages. Good beer and nice wings, tacos, ribs and pretty much everything. Very reasonable and better quality than most places here. Lots of info, family, couples and any age friendly. We really liked it - three visits and food twice. No complaints and a top spot. If you are reading this then use the bridge across from the town and watch the amazing sunset from half way.
