We stumbled across this gem whilst looking for a place to eat. We thought we would just get a drink and make use of the WiFi and do some research on the restaurants in the area. Luckily it was happy hour and the price of drinks was very reasonable (as you may know Iceland can be very expensive). Whilst browsing I noticed the menus and the food looked great (and well priced) so we decided to settle in and eat here. When the food came it didn't disappoint. Great quality and not what you'd expect from a hostel. Staff were very friendly and it had a cosy laid-back vibe, would definitely recommend.

Very friendly staff, tasty food, comfortable beds, sauna (free) very nice place to get to know new people. Also possible to do laundry here. For a hostel, they offer alot of services and are eager to give you tips about where to go and see the amazing northern lights. Very happy with my stay here.

We didn't stay here, only ate but the hostel looked good to (could only see the kitchen and the bathroom was clean). Anyway, the food was awesome. Supposedly the arctic char was fabulous (I wouldn't know, I'm allergic) and while the burger was very good I watched another friend eat the chicken burger and I totally should have gone for that instead. And the fries (actually potato wedges) are excellent and served with some excellent garlic sauce dip. Yum yum.

I want to rate this place with 6th ⭐️! This place deserves it! We are cycle tourers, being on the road for 6 months now, through Europe. We needed a day off from the bikes and pick this location as our budget would certainly not allow anything else. So our expectation where nowhere but to be out of the tent. That place is immaculately clean. Everywhere. The staff is very accommodating and offered us a good secured place for our bikes. They have a restaurant /bar on the street floor, very cozy and with excellent food for reasonable price. So good that even locals are seen around. We had a twin room on the top floor and it was so quiet that we slept in. We were there in early September, the peak season is over, so the kitchen facilities were fully accessible. It may be a little bit more difficult if the hostel is fully booked with only one stove and one sink, though. But otherwise plenty of ustensiles/plates/pots and a big table to share your meal with other guests. Bathrooms and showers in early morning and mid afternoon were impeccable!. They must clean more than once/day. A definitely excellent place to take a break from the road or to use as a base camp to explore around.

Was due to stay here for a couple of nights. First impression was good. Friendly staff and decent facilities. The main problem was the noise. We were right I. The street which is very noisy but even worse, there was live music on in the bar directly underneath were we checked in. I assume this is part of the hostel but it was just very load and very hot. We didn’t stay the next night but decided to camp instead.

I came by with my Havanese to meet my friends at bar. Before walking in there was no sign that dogs are not allowed. We walked in and my dog was sitting in my lap for all the time we spent there and I looked and staff and bartender to see if they see that I have came in with dog and if it’s okey. Nobody approached me and all staff saw I had dog with me. After 15-20 minutes when I’m in middle of beer rude staff member approached me to ask me to leave because dogs are not allowed. I asked why She did not asked to leave with second I came in and she just said I’m sorry you need to leave. On all my questions all I got was: sorry you need to leave. During all time we spent there my dog spent only in my lap and she did not bark or annoyed everyone. I am really disappointed how staff acted and that there are no clear signs when I walked in.

Incredible hostel, super friendly staff, delicious food at the restaurant! The dorms are spacious enough so it doesn’t feel too crowded. They have a sauna in the bathroom, you just need to ask someone at the reception to heat it up before you go, it was so relaxing!

We had dinner here last night. Atlantic char, ribs, potatoes with cheese and bacon. Absolutely delicious piping hot food. Great beer, the friendliest service. Very busy but tables change hands quickly. Spotless loos. Very good quality and price. Not just for backpackers to eat in. Obviously very popular.

I stayed here for one night, staff extremely helpful. I had an issue with my room mate who was a bit odd and was a bit rude to me so I ended up staying downstairs and going out a lot but I must say this place was safe and clean and comfortable so I would recommend it. Showers we clean, kitchen clean, lovely atmosphere in the bar, security seemed good, toilets really clean, cant imagine any problems with this place and excellent price.

Lovely place. Great atmosphere with a lot of locals. Highly recommend "catch of the day" and happy hours (around 17h). Superb food. Like everywhere in Akureyri prices are very high but much more affordable comparing the other places around.
