Really cosy room (a great respite in the cold winter weather!), comfy bed. Bar downstairs was lively and fun, and all of the staff were absolutely lovely. Good quality breakfast too, with hot and cold options available. EV charger available for a very reasonable fee. Really nice place from which to explore Akureyri, would stay again.

Hotel Kea is at the corner of Kaupvangsstraeti and Hafnarstraeti., one block back from the main street, it was needed to drive around the block a few times to find it. If you continue up Kaupvangsstraeti street you can find parking on the left or along Hafnarstraeti but it was kind of difficult sometimes. The hotel was lovely and easy walking distance to little stores and restaurants.

This is the worst hotel in Iceland that we have stayed at. No parking. Nasty front desk people. Have to take an elevator to the third floor, walk through several hallways, then down to the 2nd floor to get to our room on the second floor. Why? Unbelievable! Room is tiny and angled for even less space. Need to move the window curtain to reach the bedside. Loud partygoers all night with no sound proofing at all sounds like you are outside with them. Sink smaller than an airplane sink. Shower the size of a cruise ship shower. If not for the rest of the hotels we stayed at in Iceland being much nicer and friendlier, we would have had a terrible opinion of Iceland hotels. The other hotels were very nice and didn’t meet a single nasty person in Iceland the first two weeks we were here until The Kea. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere nice while in Akureyri.

Dear dyoungbar, We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We try our best to make sure that our guests have a wonderful time and we apologize that that was not your experience. We would have loved to hear more about your stay when you were with us, so we could hae accommodated you better. You booked a standard room and our standard rooms are not big - we do recommend booking a higher room category if you wish for more space and luxury. Hotel Kea is located downtown Akureyri, and as with other downtown hotels, parking is limited. There are however 100+ free parking spaces in about 200 meters from the hotel, and all of the attractions, restaurants and more are in walking distance from the hotel. Information about all of this is on our webpage and sent to you in an e-mail before arrival as well. We do hope you have had a good time in Iceland! On behalf of the staff of Hotel Kea, Dísa Rún Jóhannsdóttir Assistant Hotel Manager

This is a great hotel close to both highway and the downtown of Akureyri. We just stayed for one night as a part of a road trip around Iceland. The room was great and comfy. Bar and the restaurant downstairs also looked very nice. All in all, I couldn't ask for much more. Several nice restos are around the corner as well. Recommended.

Great location and the entire family agreed, the best pastries at breakfast. Had the feel of a business hotel with lots of laptops open at breakfast!! Rooms clean and basic, no frills. Parking just outside the hotel and only had to pay for around 15 minutes before the free time.

This hotel was charming and comfortable and the location was right in a part of town with shops in walking distance. It is right next to a set of stairs going up to really beautiful church on a hill but that meant that our room still had people walking right by at window level and we had to keep our drapes shut for privacy.

Very nice hotel and central located. Room was nice but the bed was really really small so get uncomfortable after a few hours. Really need to improve this. The shower was nice and warm with a sulphur smell which was nice (Im not being sarcastic). Excellent breakfast. Staff at the reception were nit unfriendly but could be a bit more friendly. Anyway in my next time in Akureyri for sure I will stay there.

Lovely room. lovely staff, right in the middle of everything, so more than convenient and we had a very nice view of the port. The restaurant is most definitely worth the time, with a diverse menu and a very complete wine list and, impeccable service.

The hotel room was small and outdated just as the sanitary. In addition there was a lot of noise from the kitchen hoof. There’s barely parking space. The bar personnel was unfriendly. Disappointing and certainly not worth 4 stars.

Kia Hotel in Akureyri: 3 The strongest positive is location – right in the center of town in walking distance to almost everything. Staff at the front desk is helpful. But the negatives are stronger – the tiny room was not designed with any useful storage, as are other small hotel rooms in Iceland, so we could barely maneuver around the bed. The “limited parking” for cars is 4 slots so you will be lucky to get one. Breakfast is OK but not up to the rating of the hotel. And for this you pay a hefty daily rate. So not a bad hotel but not a good. If I were to be in this town again, I would look for a small hotel or rental in a house.

Dear Walter W, Thank you for your visit and for taking time to give us feedback. We are happy to see our central location was convenient and that our lovely staff were able to impress. Our standard rooms are not large, but their size is listed when booking online. We highly recommend booking Deluxe rooms if you are wishing for a spacious room. We all hope you enjoyed your time in Akureyri and wish you a safe trip home. On behalf of the staff of Hotel Kea, Dísa Rún Jóhannsdóttir Assistant Hotel Manager
