Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for three nights in order to explore the surrounding area. Having had a long day travelling from Stykkisholmur, we were looking for a comfortable location and this hotel certainly provided that.
It is under ten minutes driving from Akureryi and the views from the hotel back are superb. It is quite a small hotel and slightly off the beaten track but it is worth it. We were in an upstairs room which was quite large, being divided in to a sleeping area and a sitting area. We were provided with towelling robes and slippers in order to access the hot tubs on the decking outside. We didn't use this facility but many guests did during our stay there.
Our host, Robert, was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was very good and constantly replenished when necessary. Car parking is on site and there are plenty of places to eat in the evening in Akureryi.
We used the hotel as a base to tour the Husavik and Lake Myvatn areas which can be easily accessed on quick roads.
The great advantage of the hotel for us was that there were no tour groups while we were there, just independent travellers like ourselves.

We stayed a night but what a night to remember always. We were very tired as we were driving a long way from Snaefellsnes to Akureiya non stop and reached pretty late. Don't remember the name of the Staff who greeted us at the reception but cannot forget his sweet gesture of offering us help with our dinner carrying our luggage to the room and showing us around the property. Also would like to thank the property for the wine and sweets to wish us on our 13th Marriage Anniversary that was so welcoming and sweet. Your staff is really nice friendly and welcoming!

We found the hotel really very, very nice! We had the deluxe room - there was enough space for everything. The bed was super comfortable, so much so that we even overslept once. The view is great, the TV has Netflix & YouTube. The hot tub was on, but the bubbles were unfortunately broken, but that wasn't a problem. The breakfast was delicious, you even have the option to make your own waffles. Unfortunately, the vegetables were missing from the table. A few cucumbers & tomatoes would have been perfect. The staff were very, very nice.

The location is okay, provided you have a car - it's up the hillside about 5 km from Akureyri.
However, the hotel caters mainly to tour groups. I was travelling independently and booked on booking.com. When I checked in, I was offered the poorest room, directly underneath the bar, with every noise from upstairs coming down. When I asked if I could change rooms, I was told that they prefer to offer the better rooms to tour groups because the agents will bring in more business. They did agree to change my room when I refused to accept this answer.
However, even the better room was poor - nothing about the design and layout has been thought out, and it's the worst hotel or guest house room I've stayed at in Iceland. In mid-June, with no darkness, the rooms have no blackout blinds, and the curtains don't even fit the windows properly. The bed, however, was comfortable.
The staff are all Eastern European, with no Icelandic staff at all, so they lack any kind of local knowledge. They do their best, but have clearly not received any meaningful training at all, and it's a bit chaotic and unprofessional.
All in all, El Cheapo Hotel might be a more accurate name.

We stayed here for one night out of eight in Iceland, and it was by far the worst hotel we stayed at. I'm not sure how it obtained a 3-star rating.
We stayed in a "garden view" room, which apparently meant parking lot-view. The only available electric plug in the room was behind the bed (shown in picture) and the bathroom floor was coming apart (shown in another picture). The hotel highlights that it provides Netflix as entertainment, but they just have Netflix-capable TVs, like all modern TVs. The window wouldn't also close all the way. It's also strange that they have no reception desk -- you have to go to a centrally located telephone and press a button to talk to anyone.
Breakfast was ok and there was a mini-fridge in the room.

We stayed at this place for only one night. It’s located in the countryside a few kilometers from Akureyri. The scenery is beautiful. We probably got the smallest room, but it had a small fridge and a privat bathroom. Free wi-fi and a hot tub we regrettably did not have a chance to use. Breakfast was included and had everything you could expect and then some. I recommend this place.

We stayed at this hotel through our package of Guide to Iceland, and this was the last hotel of the tour. It is a drive from downtown Akureyri, which we weren't thrilled about, since we enjoy walking around town. The bedrooms smelled funny, and bathrooms were quite small. Breakfast wasn't as diverse as the other hotels we stayed throughout our 10 days in Iceland. I would not stay there again if I had the choice.

+1
Breathtaking views and fantastic hotel. Full of charm and very close to town. Staff gave recommendations to restaurants in town and we visited the gorgeous botanical gardens in town. Our room was very comfortable, great view from our window and fabulous breakfast. Loved every minute of our stay. If you are out and about the Forest lagoon is close by. We didn’t visit but wished we had more time. Stayed one night while driving the ring road.

Too far out of town and there’s a distinct lack of atmosphere and a lack attention to details. Cold showers!!!!
The town is beautiful but this place it a long way out on its own and the facilities aren’t fabulous.
The bed was lopsided and the ceiling sloped so we kept banging our head! To use the toilet we had to walk backwards
Down a narrow walkway inside the ensuite!!!
