We stayed in the AS guesthouse in Akureyri for several nights during our ring road tour of Iceland. The guesthouse was, without question, my favorite stop of the many places that we stayed as we made our way around the country. It was incredibly comfortable (the cozy, soft bedding and warm, beautifully designed room made it so easy to get a great night sleep) and the views from the rooms and the house were amazing. The hosts were so helpful, kind and knowledgeable about the area (they had been born and raised here in Akureyri) and helped us with our decisions about what to see and do while in the area. We will absolutely return here on our next visit to Iceland. We would highly recommend it to others traveling in the Akureyri area as well.

I was staying there for 5 days and it was so homy and cosy. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The place is near the city - centre, the church and the swimming pool, there is also a great view. Easy to walk to all attractions and all in all a great time :)

My wife and me stayed in this guesthouse for one night during our trip around Iceland. We stayed in the room with private facilities.
The room was very large and the equipment brand new. From the window we had a view to the mountains on the other side of the fjord. Internet access via WiFi was no problem at all.
The host offers to use the living room on the ground floor to read a book, to talk to other guests or to watch TV.
The breakfast was prepared to our wish. We could order the day before what we would like to eat for breakfast. We could take what was left over on our tour. This is a very sensitive approach!
We would definitely go there again.

From when we were greeted at the door until we left, we felt a true welcome attitude. The host and hostess were attentive and charming, the breakfast was delicious and the home very inviting. Our room faced the fjord with balcony and was perfect to end the day of sightseeing sitting and looking at the view. Great place!

We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy B&B, which is run in the home of an elderly Icelandic couple (the house has a Nordic 1950’s vibe.) Our room with a little balcony overlooked the beautiful majestic fjord. The bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet was shared, but we only shared it with a couple and a family.

The breakfast spread was wonderful, including bread from the baker, Skyr yoghurt, cheese, salami, ham, jams, cucumbers and tomatoes, coffee, tea and pastries.

Akureyri is a small city even if it’s the second largest one in Iceland. It was a pleasant five minute stroll from the hotel to the city center with restaurants, bars and shops. On the walk there, you’re on a street with art galleries, an art museum and book shop.

The hosts were very friendly and they’ve travelled a lot. We have nothing but good things to say about this place. But note that this is NOT the right hotel if you’re traveling in a large group and looking to party (we weren’t so it didn’t matter.)

My boyfriend and I stayed at AS Guest House for 2 nights at the beginning of our stay in Iceland. We'd driven straight from Reykjavik after a red eye flight and were exhausted. It was lovely to show up to warm, inviting home and to meet Smari, as well. He was very helpful that evening for our dinner plans and in our activities to follow. We had a King room overlooking the water and mountains. It was very modern and well appointed. The shared bathroom was across the hall and did not pose any problems with 4 adults using it. Plenty of hot water (you just need to be careful with flooding, as the shower is in the middle of the bathroom).
Breakfast was light and just enough to start a long day of exploring the north. Smari even put out small items for us to pack one morning when we had an early start before breakfast. He was kind enough to let us take some fruit and sandwiches for the road. All in all a pleasant stay and convenient to everything! The walk to town was about 10 minutes and parking was very easy right in front of the house.

A beautiful and well located house in peaceful surroundings but still in a walking distance from the center of town. The rooms are very clean, spacious and well furnished. The hosts, Smàri and Nanna, are exceptionally friendly and attentive and serve delicious breakfasts! I can certainly recommend this place.

My Family (we are 5) had a lovely stay in the Guest House in April. Smári (owner) was very polite and helpful and wanted to do his best to make Our trip as successful as possible. We felt like home in big rooms and had all fasilities we need. We could make Our own Food in the Kitchen and the living room is excellent. This accommodation is definitely recommended. We had a great time there and would love to come back again.

We were guests at AS Guest House for one night as part of our journey around Iceland. The hosts were very friendly and we would loved to stay longer than one night. We got some tips from the host were to go and finally went to the public swimming pool. The room was clean, nice and lovely, as well as the breakfast.
Highly recommed it.

Our host was very accommodating, a wealth of information, we were able to walk around the town and see many highlights right from this guest house. The weather was not so nice for our 2 days in Akureyri but we made the most of our time and enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Galleries, museums, community pool, the main church (architecturally very unique), restaurants, whale watching tours and botanical gardens are all within walking distance. Breakfast was fresh delicious and presented beautifully.
