All its meanings: square, concourse, market, commercial center, shopping mall, shopping precinct, shopping arcade, emporium ! Although those all places are not in that same hotel building but really within walking distance and really you can find all those above are in the middle of Turku. Hotel itself has fine rooms, very friendly and skilled staff. Café/restaurant is in the premises and not to mention ideal breakfast room with all its delights. Own vegan food area and the most crispiest bacon in the world ! What else could you ask for wonderful stay in the Finnish Historical City of Turku !
The hotel is very central. The breakfast is excellent, large choice. We were a group of 5 and we stayed 5 nights. My bed has only been done once out of 5 days. The sink in the bathroom has never been cleaned during my stay, and also for my colleagues. This was not acceptable. We did tell the reception on our last day.
We stayed here for the third time with our dog in early December for the Independence Day long weekend (3 nights) and were quite pleased yet again. Location: very good and quiet as it’s a pedestrian street. The hotel was quiet in general as well. The location is smack dab in the city center. It was so convenient to be only steps away from good shopping possibilities - most of my Christmas shopping was done that weekend within half a kilometre radius from the hotel. For example, Stockmann department store is opposite of the hotel. For dog guests; the nearest park (Puolakanpuisto) is only a few blocks away and the nearest dog park (Eerikinrinne) is 1 km from the hotel. Room: we had the same room as the last time, “Superior Balcony” corner room on the 5th floor. Not that there was much use for a balcony in December but we really like the airy feeling the large windows give. It has wooden floors, bath robes, minibar, two armchairs, desk and chair, iron plus ironing board and safety deposit box. There were a few details that need better attention from the housekeeping: one of the bed side light fixtures was missing a light bulb and there was noticeable dust in the bathroom upper parts (for example on the wall plug). I will repeat what I said about the bathroom the last time – they need to be renovated, especially the showers! Our dog was again given a little gift bag of dog treats, little baggies and a map of the nearest parks and in the room there was a blanket and a water dish for him. Very thoughtful. :) Pet cost is 20 € extra per night on top of the room charge. Breakfast: good again. Lots of choices for all tastes – although the sweet options are very modest if you’re into those. Nice Karelian pies and egg butter, good choices on vegetables, many hot foods as well (I only tried the scrambled eggs which were okay), fresh fruits… the best part was the excellent bread, the ciabatta type especially. Staff: friendly and helpful. They also gave us late check-out until 14:00 for no additional cost which was very much appreciated. Parking: there are some parking spots on their inner courtyard and also there's a parking garage (Q Park Kivikukkaro) right next door. We chose the garage which can conveniently be accessed through the courtyard which can be accessed from a back door on the 2nd floor. For Scandic Members the parking is 11 € per day. All in all it was a good visit and we would stay again.…
