Scandic Grand Central is the newest hotel in Helsinki. It is located at the Helsinki Railway Station and has been renovated into the administrative building of the Finnish Railways, designed by Eliel Saarinen in the late 19th century and built in the early 20th century. The Scandic Grand Central has 491 rooms. The rooms in the old part are built into office rooms and almost every room is a little different in size and shape. The style of the building could be described as a Late Art Nouveau or "Saarinen Art Nouveau". in patterning and the gradation of decorations. I got to see the different rooms during the tour. The rooms, built in the old part, are classic in style and partly very high. The color scheme of the rooms is darker than the current style of the hotel interior and the colors are earthy. Many of the rooms offer new views of Helsinki, my room showed the beautiful roof dome of the National Theater. The building’s thick exterior walls and other insulation solutions completely eliminate noise from the adjacent train station, bus terminal, and nearby construction sites. I recommend Grand Central Hotel for a staycation, there is so much to see.…
Very nice stay at Scandic Grand Central Helsinki. Location is superb, everything is new and fresh with a lot of history as the building is old. Stayed at the old section of the building, which is elegantly renovated. Nice breakfast, although a bit crowded (stayed during the pandemic). Nothing to complain!
The new Scandic Grand Central Helsinki is worth to visit due to the location and the nicely renovated building next to the railway station. The tasty breakfast and friendly personnel makes your trip to Helsinki a perfect stay.
Had a wonderful staycation at Scandic Grand Central Helsinki. The staff at the reception made us feel immediately welcome and put us to the vacation mode. A glass of sparling wine was a nice surprise enjoyed in the beautiful lobby with a fire. Our room in the old, historical part was on the 4th floor with the arc window facing Rautatientori. There was absolutely no noise from the street, nor from the corridor. The spacious room was extra comfortable with great motor beds. The breakfast next morning was very versatile. The restaurant of the hotel was closed on Monday (like many other restaurants in Helsinki) and we were recommended a Nepalese restaurant next door. The meal there was to our taste and we can happily recommend this restaurant with friendly service.
This is a hotel located at the railwaystation in Helsinki. Building is beautiful and renovation is well done. Breakfast is nice if nothing exeptional. Beds are otherwise nice, but under the sheet there is a plasticsheet/mattressprotection or somerhing that makes annoying noice if you change position during night. In the morning sunshine will wake you up even after closing curtains
