Modern and cosy Sokos Hotel Helsinki is located in the heart of Helsinki, between Ateneum (the Museum of Finnish Art), and the Senate Square. The hotel is located next to the major shopping streets and it is only 300 meters from Helsinki Central Station. All the hotel rooms are designed with fresh, Scandinavian style and have hardwood floors, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TV. Some rooms have a private sauna. There is a complimentary internet point with three computers in the lobby area. The hotel also houses two great restaurants: Fransmanni and Memphis. Fransmanni offers French-inspired cuisine and the hotel’s rich breakfast buffet is served there every morning. Memphis is a more upbeat restaurant with tasty burgers and cool drinks. The hotel is also a great venue for small-scale meetings, and offers two meeting rooms for a maximum of 30 persons. The sauna department is located at the top floor and can also be rented for private use.

We arrived approximately 8pm. We had booked a superior triple room for 2 adults and 1 teenager. On check in we were advised we had been "upgraded to a suite" which sounded great, however on arrival to our room the "suite" was a pretty standard room with a sauna in the bathroom.

Stayed there for 2 nights. Location is near to Stockholm shopping centre. Opposite hotel, there is a MacDonald. There is a nice must try asian/jap restaurant called Momokoto. Remember to bring your own kettle and toiletries e.g. toothbrush n toothpaste. Overall a present stayed

Hotel is well located in the city centre. Tram and metro stop are located nearby if you need them. There is a K-Supermarket located at the nearby university metro station. The allocated room was spacious, free wifi works well and TV had several English channels. Toilet came

I stay at this hotel often. Excellent front desk. Big improvement in housekeeping this time, due to the efforts of Maryam, the supervisor. However, when she wasn't there they reverted back to poor service.

Review collected in partnership with this hotel
There is nothing "wrong" with this hotel. Like most Sokos hotels, it does provide good, efficient service. However, it does not stand out in any way either. Probably the biggest plus was the comfort of the bed. The room was also perfectly clean but it had a slightly worn feel.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about renting winter boots. But it seems that there are some companies that rent winter clothes. Please google for example winter clothes rental Finland, or something similar and you'll get better answers :)

Dear 132sandy, It is usually pretty cold in February, I'd say about -5 to -25 degrees of Celcius. But you never know, it might not be that cold this winter. Check the latest weather forecasts before you start your journey. I would succest you wear your winter clothes at the airport before coming to the hotel. There is nothing to be afraid about the cold weather. Just remember to wear warm clothes, layers are best way to keep warm. Also remember to wear good hat and mittens and you'll be alright. This way you'll be able to enjoy our wonderful winter. :) Northern lights are not very common in the southern part of Finland. But if you travel up north to Lapland, you have better chance to see them. kind regards, Heidi Ruti Hotel Manager Original Sokos Hotel Helsinki

What is the parking situation like?
Dear Springbok200, I'm afraid our hotel doesn't have our own parking garage. Parking on the street is not allowed right next to the hotel, though street side parking can be found close by. Easiest is to take you car to P Kluuvi, a parking garage very close to our hotel. Entrance at Fabianinkatu 27 or Puutarhakatu 1. Go to lever C or D, those are the closest ones to the hotel. The elevator from the garage is right across the street form our main entrance. Parking fee is 36eur/24h at the moment (01/2017).

is there smoking area?
Hello! I'm afraid we don't have a smoking area inside the hotel. Smoking is only allowed outside the hotel.
