The hotel is located in a beautiful warehouse building from the early 1900s, and features plus-sized rooms and modern meeting facilities. The large arched windows and high ceilings create a spacious and bright atmosphere in the restaurant and bar. During the summertime, guests can also enjoy our large terrace. In addition to the hotel's own meeting facilities, the adjacent Marina Congress Center offers settings for events and functions of up to 2,500 people. There is plenty of parking space just outside the hotel and in the garage. The hotel offers WiFi, a gym, a sauna, and a 24-hour shop. You can borrow a bicycle or sticks for Nordic walking from the reception. Close to the Helsinki city centre, the hotel is located by the sea in idyllic Kajanokka next to the Market Square, Uspenski Cathedral, and the Helsinki SkyWheel. The hotel offers an excellent starting point to see the sights, spend some time shopping or enjoy the restaurants and nightlife of the city.

Stayed here for a business conference in September 2019, and to be honest I am not sure if I would go back, if I have the choice! The hotel is set a bit out from the main centre of the city, which makes it a bit of a pain unless you enjoy a good stroll. I think the main reason for being that far out is that the site is then big enough to have a conference centre just over the road, opposite the hotel. The lobby itself looks nice, and the staff are friendly. But as soon as you get into a room – either a bedroom or a meeting room – it soon becomes clear that this place hasn’t had any real money spent on it for quite a long time. My room was pretty spartan – a shallow wardrobe with limited fixed hangers inside, and more outside, a small desk and the all-too-common “two single beds pushed together” set up. The bathroom was small and a bit pokey, too. Décor was definitely dated, complete with worn furniture, plastic cable covers on the wall for the TV (but some exposed cable too!), and a slightly odd lighting setup. Safe was very small. And there was no iron. Regular readers will know I prize an iron in the room on business trips. But not only did I not have one, but ironing turned out to be a saga. The hotel don’t actually bring an iron to your room. Instead, there’s an ‘ironing room’ on the 6th floor (which I was not staying on). After managing to find this – it is not well sign posted – I was confronted with two very tired ironing boards and absolutely nowhere to hang the hangers from the wardrobe. One iron was very old and small, but that didn’t matter so much because it’s plug didn’t actually fit in the socket. The other was a bit more modern, but beaten up, and the ‘anchor’ cable to the ironing board wasn’t actually long enough to let the iron reach the top of the ironing board. Altogether, not a fun experience. There are definitely better places to stay in Helsinki!

This 1000 bed hotel is an early 20th century former warehouse building which was sensitively converted in the 1980's, retaining and complimenting features such as the concrete mushroom columns, the large ground floor windows and the exposed brick' walls to the restaurant and bar. Decor-wise, it is brown, beige and grey - contemporary but not 'warm'. I quite liked it, but I note that some reviewers find it a little lacking in colour. Certainly the exterior is a little severe, particularly at night - the Finns do not yet seemed to have embraced the potential of modern LED lighting to architecturally enhance external facades. The location is convenient for the waterfront and the city centre, but at night is a little dark and lacking activity once you pass the big wheel. Hopefully that will improve in time. The bedroom and bathroom were reasonably sized and comfortable in a Scandinavian style. One oddity was a kettle in the room, but I couldn't find any tea, coffee or cups. We had the buffet for dinner the night we arrived, which was excellent, as were the buffet breakfasts where there was a substantial choice and, even with the number of people in the hotel, everything worked well and food was regularly topped up, with seating spilling out into the bar area. If I visited Helsinki again, I would happily stay here again.

The location of the hotel is ok, at walking distance from the nice parts of the town. The hotel itself is big and ugly. The corridors have a 1970’s soviet style. The rooms are very small, basic (they look like a student residence) and are not comfortable. The mattress is mediocre. The breakfast is also so so, with a rather limited choice. All in all, this is very poor choice. This alleged 4 stars offers the comfort of a 2 stars and I have seen 2 stars having far more charm than this one... Clear advice: avoid the place. You will pay far too much for what you get.

Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and spacious room. Ideal location for the Congress Center which is just across the street. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The cold buffet was ready before 6am so people could eat before heading out. I felt very much at home, away from home.
