Traveling to Helsinki in January might have seemed crazy, but Hotel Kamp made it wonderful. The reception staff, the concierge, the restaurant servers, housekeeping: everyone was so friendly, efficient and helpful. Our room was spacious and looked out over the Esplanade - a perfect location to explore this intriguing city. We especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet, when we were able to sit "outside" - their outside patio was enclosed with warmed glass panels, roof, pretty sparkling lights and heaters, so it was like sitting outside on a dark Finnish morning, completely comfortable. Special kudos to the restaurant staff, who explained about karelian pastry with egg butter, and that warming, creamy porridge we happily got up early to enjoy. We will definitely visit Finland again, and visit Hotel Kamp. A first class destination in every respect!…
The good: Pre stay communication with the hotel was done smoothly and the reception replied quickly to my email. In my email I requested an early check-in as well as a table reservation from the Brasserie restaurant. The receptionist said that the staff would do their best in order to accommodate my early check in request and booked the table from the restaurant for me. When I arrived at the hotel this was true and I was given my room at 1 pm, so 2 hours prior to standard check-in time. The receptionist who checked me in was very kind and tried to speak Swedish with me. She also remembered that I had stayed there before and said welcome back to me. She also said that it would be fine if I checked out an hour later so at 1 pm. The room was upgraded one category up from deluxe to premium deluxe. In addition, there was a greeting card from the General manager welcoming me back to Helsinki and a small box of chocolates which was a nice touch. The Spa at the hotel is absolutely fabulous and it’s a nice place to relax after a busy day. Always worth the visit. The receptionist who checked me out was very kind and remembered to welcome me back again. The bad: Overall, I had a very good stay here. There weren’t any major flaws during my stay, but there were some mistakes done by the restaurant Brasserie kitchen in my food order. However, the restaurant waiters were very kind and apologetic. They even offered me a complimentary salad while I waited for my dinner order to get corrected.…
This hotel is perfectly located on the main boulevard of Helsinki. Walking distance to the shopping areas, tourist sights and the harbour. Our room was spotless and well maintained. Our family enjoyed Xmas Eve dinner and Xmas dinner in the hotel's Mirror room which was stunning. Food and service were excellent We had great breakfasts over 3 days in the Brassiere. Bar food of burgers etc were great. Excellent staff. We all had a Xmas to remember thanks to the Kamp! Even met Father Xmas !
Beautiful hotel, historic property, popular bar and delicious restaurant. This place has it all. It’s no wonder Hotel Kamp has hosted some of the biggest names in the world over the decades. No matter how nice a hotel is, after a while most places show signs of wear and tear. I was looking for it here and did not find it. The bathroom in 828 looked like it was just completed. This is one of those places that pays attention to detail. This being my first visit, I did not realize the hotel’s main entrance is no longer in the Esplanade but rather a small street to the east. The lobby, too, looked brand new. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They were always present and polite. I did not have to wait for anything. I had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Get a reservation for dinner. The food and service were top notch. Because of that, the restaurant is often busy. The hotel bar is famous for the war correspondents who filed stories from there last century. And it is THE place to be on weekend (and maybe weekday) nights. Packed. And not all hotel guests either. This is one of those places that attracts locals, as well. When I return to Helsinki, I’m staying here.…
The hotel is really well placed to explore the city. The staff were all very friendly, attentive and professional. We stayed in an executive room with access to the upper lounge. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was spacious. The breakfast buffet had a really good selection to choose from. The bar is a really good place to relax after exploring. The upper lounge was a lovely experience and the staff were again, brilliant! The gym area is well equipped and again spacious for a hotel. Having been to Helsinki over 20 times this is by far and away the best hotel we have stayed in and will not be the last.
we only stayed here 2 or 3 nights on route to Lapland & were meeting local friends for dinner etc when there so didn't try the restaurant but the breakfasts were amongst the best Ive had regarding quality of food & choice The bar is great but be aware that at night this is obviously the place to be seen for local Finnish business people & can be busy as there is fairly limited seating so either get there early or late for a table! Cocktails were great, wine also but service on some nights can be a bit slow (I think they are a bit understaffed), however the bar staff are really nice & v helpful when they manage to get to you! Rooms are as you would expect from this kind of place. Maybe a bit bland but beautifully appointed & very comfortable beds all in all, I would stay again
Fabulouus stay at Hotel Kämp. Great staff, excellent facilities and perfectly positioned in Helsinki. Especially enjoyed the great gym and beautiful spa. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Staff is attentive and very helpful. Probably the best hotel in Helsinki.
My wife and I stayed 5 nights at hotel Kämp to celebrate New Year's Eve 2023. Fantastic location, very friendly and helpful front office agents. Also, room service is great. Breakfast was mediocre and not what we would expect in 5 stars hotel. Our New Year's Eve dinner at Hotel Kämp was spoiled by a rude head waiter/manager who I think his name was Nasir. His behaviour was especially rude when he aggressively put the plates on our table while reminding us to finish eating faster because the table was reserved by other guests at 20:00! This despite we made a reservation one day before for that table from 18:00 to 20:30!! We simply did not feel welcomed at all. A young and extremely friendly waitress from India tried her best to make us feel comfortable again but our dinner was unfortunately already spoiled. Hotel Kämp is a nice traditional hotel but it can't be the leading 5 stars luxury hotel in Finland, as they claim to be. It should actually be only 4 stars hotel. …
Pros: Pre stay communication went very well. I sent the hotel an email prior to my stay asking for the possibility of an early check-in. The front desk responded during the same day and said that they would do their best to accommodate my request. When I arrived at the hotel I was given my room earlier. The receptionist who checked me in was polite and offered me the option to check-out a bit later. The room was very luxurious and was located on the old side of the hotel. Both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant Brasserie were of high quality and well worth the experience. In addition, I had a good experience in both the spa and the upper lounge. It was great that the upper lounge had non-alcoholic sparkling wine (lehtikuohu). Cons: This time I didn’t experience any problems during my stay. I hope to come back here in 2023!…
Recently spent 9 nights at Hotel Kamp. I chose this hotel due to ratings and closeness to train station. Was easy to get there from Helsinki Airport via an ABC train ticket for 4.10 Euros from a kiosk at platform….then walk 3 minutes to hotel from train station. Hotel lived up to other travelers reports, with reception staff and breakfast staff being 11 of 10 and housekeeping staff being 8/10. Housekeeping staff inconsistent about replenishment of milk for coffee, cleaning room (did not empty rubbish 1 time), forgot to make bed another time, not leaving coffee packets 2 times). Sauna is wonderful and heated lounge chairs to relax in are heavenly after sauna. Breakfast is stellar. Thanks to Mark in reception for enlightening me about the blizzard weather prediction when I was set to go to Tallinn for a day trip. Plan B was Marimekko outlet store and very fun. I would definitely stay here again.…
