I stayed for three nights over the Easter weekend. Check in was very smooth, and the receptionist was extremely helpful. The room was compact but very clean and comfortable, with a good sized safe which came with a built-in socket for charging devices. The courtyard - facing room was extremely quiet and well - insulated, and allowed in a lot of light even on an early spring day. Buffet breakfast was excellent, with a good spread of continental breakfast items as well as Finnish specialities such as Karelian pasties. The hotel was an excellent base for exploring Helsinki on foot, due to its central location. It certainly deserves another visit!
We stayed two nights in the lux room, family of four. The staff was very friendly, able to provide us with a highchair for our little one. There was plenty of space for the family. It even had a fridge and microwave, couch, more than we need. The s market right across the street was great if we needed anything. We will definitely be back to this hotel, it's a gem.
We had a Lux room and it was beautiful! Just perfect for us, there was a lot of room. The bed was HUGE! And we had our own Nespresso at the room. The breakfast was excellent and the staff was friendly. The only thing what could have been better was the shower. To have that luxurious room but still only a shower head with poor water pressure was a shame. I was longing for a rain shower that would have been perfect!
My wife and I stayed at the Fabian (March 2022) for a long weekend. The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The room was spotless and cleaned thoroughly every day. Beds comfortable and a good breakfast with a wide selection of food and drinks. It was our first visit since the Covid pandemic. The hotel is well situated for easy pedestrian access to the city and shops. So much so we could return during the day to drop our shopping off in our room. Highly recommended.
This 58-room boutique hotel with stylish decor is centrally located near Market Square. This was our third stay at this hotel. Now we booked the least expensive Comfort room from the Black Friday sale for 100 euros. The rate was flexible until one week before arrival and included breakfast. I am a Nordic Choice Platinum member and this hotel belongs to that hotel chain as part of Kämp Collection Hotels. Until one week before our arrival, we had got a two-category upgrade to the best Lux room but on the arrival week, we were downgraded to the Style category which is the middle category between Comfort and Lux. During check-in, I asked why the downgrade was made. The friendly receptionist told us that the Style room we have been assigned is better and bigger than the available Lux rooms. Style rooms are 22-39 sqm and Lux rooms 22-45 sqm. The biggest difference in Lux rooms is the kitchenette that Styles rooms don't have. Now we got room #606 which was much better than the Style room #604 that we had last time. The biggest problem in these top-floor rooms is the vaulted ceiling. My partner had only one hit to his head while rising up from the chair. On our first stay, we probably got the best Lux room #412. This Style room was quite far from that. This time I am giving 5 stars because our stay had excellent value for money. The normal price for the Style room would have been 209 euros. I also got a 13-euros Platinum voucher that could be used for the minibar except for alcohol.…
Great spot for exploring the city by foot- close to many of the city's architectural marvels and cultural sites, museums, shopping and restaurants. Easy walk to the harbor and the design district too. Helpful, friendly staff, and a very solid breakfast buffet.
We really enjoyed every aspect of our stay here. But most of all, the staff was extremely helpful to us with all sorts of questions. The room was comfortable and quiet and the location was excellent for our purposes. Would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Helsinki.
We stayed there for 3 nights, for which the hotel offers a discount. The reception was very warm and welcoming. The room was spacy and comfortable. Also the bathroom fulfilled our expectations. The breakfast can be a little bit crowded on weekends, but the food quality is generally satisfying.
Booked for a weekend before heading further into Finland, perfect location for the city and restaurants. The public transport makes it easy to get around even in thick snow. This hotel allows you to relax and feel safe, the staff know their city and help tailor your needs to you stay there, even down to booking reservations for dinner. Love it and would so go back for longer next time.
I stayed at Hotel Fabian in September 2021 with a friend for two nights. I would have happily stayed longer. I booked a 'style' room on the recommendation of a friend. The location is excellent for Helsinki city centre, harbour and Esplanadi park. It is convenient and close to most places with several nice bars and restaurants in close vicinity. The staff here are extremely accommodating and I was thoroughly impressed by the high quality of service. Whilst not the cheapest hotel in town, Fabian provides excellent value for the money. Our room was clean and spacious with a French balcony facing the courtyard. The room was located on a quiet hallway with no other rooms. It was nicely decorated in a mix of maximalist and scandi, with a modern shower room suite. There was a good amount of storage and the room was well equipped with the essentials from toiletries to hair drier. As the room was in a quiet location it was very peaceful and quiet, we could not hear any other guests or noise. The bed was a very large king, maybe 2m in width, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. Though my friend has a CPAP and we are both a bit chubby we had lots of space. All bedding (and towels) were of high quality and bathrobes and slippers were provided. Whilst we only stayed for two nights the room would have easily been comfy enough for a long stay. The staff were nice and helpful, knowledgeable about the area and approachable even when I made a complaint about breakfast. I am a vegan and I was somewhat disappointed by the breakfast having travelled in Helsinki several times before. This may be a personal thing but for me breakfast is one of the most important things about a hotel stay. I messaged Hotel Fabian ahead of my stay to enquire about vegan breakfast options. Other hotels I've stayed in in Helsinki have had good selections of vegan options, especially hotels in this price range. There were no sweet options or protein rich options that were vegan. The lactose-free porridge could have easily have been made vegan and there was no vegan cheese or cut for the open top sandwiches. However, there was oat milk and everything was clearly labelled. I was impressed that after I pointed this out on our first day of having breakfast, on the second day they had bought me protein soy yoghurt which they got out for me without asking when I came downstairs for breakfast. Whilst this service was excellent and I loved that they considered me after I complained, comparing this to other hotels in similar price range, the breakfast unfortunately did fall short. However, I do feel it is important to point out that this was a very "waste conscious" breakfast, they clearly put a lot of effort into thinking about our environment and reducing food waste, so it may just be a complex balancing act. I wish they balanced it to be a bit more vegan friendly though. Perhaps stocking a small number of vegan protein sources with long shelf lives that could be brought out on request would be an environmentally friendly solution to make everyone feel welcome. Having said all that, the food that was provided was delicious, especially the focaccia, hummus, chia pudding and berries! There were other small things that some travellers may consider: - there is no coffee machine, just instant coffee in rooms. Personally I prefer this as I hate how wasteful the coffee pods are but nowadays most hotels in this price category offer pods - toiletries, whilst high quality, come in small individually packed plastic. Though some travellers may prefer this. - no bath tub - We did not use room service or minibar so cannot comment on those other than that they were available - This place is pet friendly. We saw a lovely dog at breakfast. woof. Were it not for the breakfast this would be 5* from me!…
