I stayed at Hotel Fabian in September 2021 with a friend for two nights. I would have happily stayed longer. I booked a 'style' room on the recommendation of a friend. The location is excellent for Helsinki city centre, harbour and Esplanadi park. It is convenient and close to most places with several nice bars and restaurants in close vicinity. The staff here are extremely accommodating and I was thoroughly impressed by the high quality of service. Whilst not the cheapest hotel in town, Fabian provides excellent value for the money. Our room was clean and spacious with a French balcony facing the courtyard. The room was located on a quiet hallway with no other rooms. It was nicely decorated in a mix of maximalist and scandi, with a modern shower room suite. There was a good amount of storage and the room was well equipped with the essentials from toiletries to hair drier. As the room was in a quiet location it was very peaceful and quiet, we could not hear any other guests or noise. The bed was a very large king, maybe 2m in width, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. Though my friend has a CPAP and we are both a bit chubby we had lots of space. All bedding (and towels) were of high quality and bathrobes and slippers were provided. Whilst we only stayed for two nights the room would have easily been comfy enough for a long stay. The staff were nice and helpful, knowledgeable about the area and approachable even when I made a complaint about breakfast. I am a vegan and I was somewhat disappointed by the breakfast having travelled in Helsinki several times before. This may be a personal thing but for me breakfast is one of the most important things about a hotel stay. I messaged Hotel Fabian ahead of my stay to enquire about vegan breakfast options. Other hotels I've stayed in in Helsinki have had good selections of vegan options, especially hotels in this price range. There were no sweet options or protein rich options that were vegan. The lactose-free porridge could have easily have been made vegan and there was no vegan cheese or cut for the open top sandwiches. However, there was oat milk and everything was clearly labelled. I was impressed that after I pointed this out on our first day of having breakfast, on the second day they had bought me protein soy yoghurt which they got out for me without asking when I came downstairs for breakfast. Whilst this service was excellent and I loved that they considered me after I complained, comparing this to other hotels in similar price range, the breakfast unfortunately did fall short. However, I do feel it is important to point out that this was a very "waste conscious" breakfast, they clearly put a lot of effort into thinking about our environment and reducing food waste, so it may just be a complex balancing act. I wish they balanced it to be a bit more vegan friendly though. Perhaps stocking a small number of vegan protein sources with long shelf lives that could be brought out on request would be an environmentally friendly solution to make everyone feel welcome. Having said all that, the food that was provided was delicious, especially the focaccia, hummus, chia pudding and berries! There were other small things that some travellers may consider: - there is no coffee machine, just instant coffee in rooms. Personally I prefer this as I hate how wasteful the coffee pods are but nowadays most hotels in this price category offer pods - toiletries, whilst high quality, come in small individually packed plastic. Though some travellers may prefer this. - no bath tub - We did not use room service or minibar so cannot comment on those other than that they were available - This place is pet friendly. We saw a lovely dog at breakfast. woof. Were it not for the breakfast this would be 5* from me!

Hotel's Favorite
We stayed two nights in the lux room, family of four. The staff was very friendly, able to provide us with a highchair for our little one. There was plenty of space for the family. It even had a fridge and microwave, couch, more than we need. The s market right across the street was great if we needed anything. We will definitely be back to this hotel, it's a gem.

I genuinely could not love this hotel more! I stayed for 22 nights during August 2021 which gave me a great insight into the Hotel Fabian experience. Their motto is “we don’t mind if you stay longer” and I could quite easily have done so had I not been keen to get home! I stayed in a Lux Room which was a perfect “home away from home”, a little like a studio apartment, where I could work at the table during the day (the high speed WiFi never once dropped out, even when running training via video link across Europe and Asia!), and relax in the evening with a drink on the balcony or on the sofa. I enjoyed the hotel breakfast in the mornings, and then self catered most of my other meals as there is an excellent fridge and microwave in the Lux room. There is a supermarket barely a two minute walk away with a fresh food counter and Stockman department store has an amazing food hall and is a ten minute walk. Weekend evenings were generally lying on the sofa watching Netflix on the sizeable TV via chromecast with a takeaway pizza (I would recommend Via Tribunali) via food delivery app “Wolt” which you can have delivered to the hotel. The central location of the hotel makes it amazing for exploring Helsinki, yet it’s on a quiet side road which meant a full night’s sleep every night! There is so much more I could write about why I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat but I’ll just close with saying thank you to every staff member who made me feel that my home wasn’t really 5000 miles away. It’s been my pleasure to stay here and I wish you all the success as Finland opens its doors to more tourists over the coming months.

A beautiful hotel and we had a nice, spacious room. The staff was friendly and their style of service made us feel like special and desired guests. Breakfast was great, especially the sweet pastries were delicious. It was nice to enjoy breakfast in "indoor terrace". I only noticed two minor cons: are the bar soaps really the best option in a hotel? At least we didn't use even half of our soap and it must be thrown away. Another minor issue was that the breakfast room was a bit cramped. But all in all, a very cozy and atmospheric small hotel. :)

Hotel was awesome and walking distance to everything! The staff was very accommodating and helpful for our short stay of 4 days. Rooms are clean and just enough amenities for our stay. Shops, dining, and sovereign are all 10-15 minute walk. Enjoyed our stay and next time we visit will be to Lapland, Finland. Thank you everyone at Hotel Fabian.
