Hotel Odisej Mljet is lauded for its serene waterfront location and modern public spaces, offering guests a tranquil retreat. While the charm of the rooms may feel dated to some, many find them clean with breathtaking views.
Its prime beachfront position is a highlight, alongside the varied dining experiences and friendly staff that enhance stays. Though some guests suggest updates to the rooms and amenities, the overall cleanliness and value strike a fair balance for a 3-star establishment, with the natural surroundings and professional service often receiving commendation.

Detailed Reviews
I traveled with my brother in September. The journey was long but when we arrived at the Hotel all the hours travelling evaporated in the quiet efficiency of the hotel staff who got us booked in without any fuss. This is a very well run hotel. The rooms are comfortable, very well serviced every day and often our room had been refreshed even when we returned from breakfast. The food was good, a great choice for both breakfast and dinner. Omelettes to order for breakfast with a good hot and cold options. Dinner was even better with something to please everyone. The island was quiet with no evening entertainment or even music , although there was a singer on while we ate in the evening but it was not real entertainment. Bars and restaurants locally were also quiet with just food and drinks being served. The outside sunset bar was very pleasant and I spent many hours reading while me brother sunbathed. No pool, but there was an area of the sea cordoned off for safe bathing. We would return but perhaps to another island or even a cruise to see many more if the islands which we were told are all different. If you are after a quiet relaxing time with perhaps walking, renting a bike or wishing to do some kayaking in the lakes on the island then this is the place to go.

The setting of the hotel is beautiful at the edge of the bay in Pomena. The building has a flair of old school postmodern Adriatic hotels from the 70s, which is nice.
Although it is (only) a 3* hotel it does lack a lot! First and foremost cleanliness stains on the balcony and a stench from the bathroom should be really avoidable even for a 3* hotel.
The food is average at the most, and although the staff is doing their best at being professional, improvements in basic courtesy and communication skills can and should be made.
Lastly the pricing, it's just ridiculous. The hotel is exploiting its monopolistic position as the only hotel on the island. That isn't even the worst, the worst part is there is no distinction in prices throughout the calendar year whatsoever, high season all the way lol
And it's a part of the Adriatic LUXARY hotels group, seriously?
Nice island though ;-)

We had a wonderful time at the hotel. We spent 10 nights here and really settled into a relaxing routine. The staff are great and helpful. The buffet is simple and can be hit and miss but if you aren’t a fussy eater, you will be totally fine. I would give this place a higher rating but honestly most of the enjoyment comes from the location. This hotel seems to mainly rely on its idyllic spot by the sea to satisfy its customers as it looks like the hotel itself hasn’t been renovation/upgraded/invested in for many years. They are charging you for the convenience to the swimming lakes and it’s spot by the port and sea.
I think if you manage your expectations and not expect a ‘luxury hotel’ (as is falsely advertised on the website) then you will have an amazing time! For example, lots of the sun loungers were broken and unusable which was a shame given that those spots by the sea are limited so these should be fixed. The pool is a small children’s pool but honestly you don’t need an adults pool with the beautiful sea to swim in. Look past the hotel furnishings and you will fall in love with this spot. We loved chilling at the beach bar (yes pricy but seems to be the case in most the bars we went to in Croatia) and watching the stunning sunsets.
The room and bathroom were basic but comfortable. The bed was big and comfortable. Especially after we asked reception for extra pillows as we were not going to be able to sleep well with the 2 pillows we had on the double bed.
We would be happy to stay here again! I am already missing the sea swims and sunsets!

We stayed in hotel Odisej 4 days in August 2020. Regarding Covid-19, we felt very safe. There were masks and desinfection wipes at our disposal, all the staff were in handgloves with masks. The buffet islands were covered with the glass, with waiters handing over the food we chose, through the small windows. The food was great with big variety of choices both for breakfast and dinner, including vegan, lactose or gluten free dishes. They also offer excellent pizza in their promenade restaurant. The beach bar equipped with cosy furniture, facing west ( read SUNSET).
The main gem is however friendly and highly skilled staff, that made us feel very welcomed.
Location is great, very convenient for kids. Furniture in the hotel is rather old but well maintained, and extremly clean. The hotel premises have few side entrances, no need to use the main one. The same for terraces. Rooms are airconditioned, no mosqitos, which I found surprising. The sunsets, the morning sun with gentle breeze, the sound of sea, the smell of pines... breathtaking

The hotel is very well located as it is close to the ferry arrivals and the national park. Nice beach bar. However the service is very poor. Breakfast and dinner are included but not the drinks (no water, no coffee, no orange juice...) which makes you pay (quite expensive) extra for drinks at the hotel. Moreover it looks more like a canteen than a restaurant, you can't help yourself, they only serve watermelon and canned fruits. The room is quite large but two wardrobes take up all the space and the furniture is a bit old fashioned.
It says on the web that the hotel offers boat tickets and is an information point on the island. However our return boat was cancelled (due to the weather) and no one confirmed this. We had to take a taxi from Pomena to Sobra and call the tourist office for more info. The staff are not very friendly and do not always speak English very well.

Stayed for 11 nights half board and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is stunning, whether they be the bar to watch the amazing sunsets, the sunbathing area next to the sea or the National Park which is right on the doorstep. The rooms as has been mentioned several times are fairly basic but the bed is extremely comfortable, the shower powerful and they are kept very clean; for us the air conditioning was sufficient. There is plenty of choice on the breakfast buffet abd my husband and I both thought the food was exceptional, especially for what we had paid. There was always a good range of meats and fish and we particularly enjoyed the risottos.
A couple of very minor things; at both breakfast and dinner there could have been a better range of fresh fruit. I would suggest that neither apple or banana remain very appetising on a buffet style service and they were the most frequent fruits.
It would be nice if cocktails served at the beach bar were in glasses not plastic (being very picky!)
The staff really were fantastic, friendly and helpful, and made the holiday along with the stunning scenery. The boat trip to Oddesseus cave and the return water transfer were made even better by Harry the boat captain who had some really interesting information about the area.

This quite possibly is the worst hotel I have ever stayed. It seems that whom ever owns the hotel has decided to cut all costs and assume nobody would ever return and therefore offering a good experience is not necessary.
The entire hotel was dilapidated, filthy and felt like a prison. Bathrooms are catastrophic and outdated. Bathrooms also smelled of sewer. The rooms have old furniture and is broken. The throw carpets on the floor in the room are old and dirty. Beds were like sleeping on a stone slab and pillows were like bags of rocks. Air conditioning does not work in the room (or anywhere in the hotel) and the room smelled of mold. We could not put anything in the closets due to the terrible smell. Smells of frying food in the corridors and stained carpet. No WiFi in the rooms and inconsistent in the lobby.
The breakfast food was inedible and there was a cat allowed to run freely in the dining room and was up and down on the dining chairs. Staff saw the cat and did nothing.
We were booked in this hotel through a hiking company we used and sadly would have skipped our hike on the island of Mljet, than stay in this horrible hotel. We will make sure to also follow up with the hiking company about this hotel.

This is a 3* property so I get really annoyed when people complain of small bathrooms etc. The categorisation of the hotel is something that is fixed as are the room and bathroom sizes and fit outs. This is my second time here and I have witnessed first hand the hard work and dedication of staff to keep things clean, nice, to improve and correct things in as much as they can. The room this time had a minor technical issue with the door due to an accident which hotel was quick to fix.
The staff here are the establishment’s biggest asset and rightly so. They are really friendly and courteous taking every opportunity to maintain standards of service.
I would say that holidaying here can be a really wonderful experience especially if you manage to get a deal in advance providing excelkent value for money too.
The beach bar is a little expensive but the sunsets are worth it!

I sadly have just had to cancel my booking due to Covid. I had a 7 week trip to Europe planned and as you can imagine canceling what you can and trying to get refunds on no cancelation allowed bookings has been stressful and difficult.
I had a no cancelation booking here but Katarina has been wonderfully understanding of my personal situation. Living in Australia and the likelihood of long term border closures means re booking is impossible. Katarina has allowed a full refund. Communicating with her has been prompt and so genuinely kind. I could not be more grateful and I look forward to rebooking and staying in such a beautiful spot and meeting such kind people when International travel is safe and allowed again. If you live closer and travel for you is possible, I would whole heartedly recommend staying at this hotel with such beautifully kind staff.

The hotel was built in 1976 a little tired BUT the location is perfect attached to the National park with stunning views and the sunsets are incredible.
The manager and staff could not do enough for you the food was excellent and the bedrooms were really comfortable. A catamaran ferry came in everyday which meant you could move around Croatia , really convenient. would definitely return.
