We arrived early morning on the night train from Helsinki and were very grateful to be checked in at 8am without extra charge. We stayed for one night at the Snow Castle in one of their Seaside Glass Villas which was, as described, on the coast of the frozen Sea of Bothnia. I say thankfully because it had heating and...

You have to look at this as an experience as opposed to being a comfortable night in a hotel. And yes, it is expensive for what it is but what chance do you have to spend in a place like this. As others comment, you cannot access the room until 9pm, so my suggestion is to do an evening activity...

We stayed at the glass villas, which are a bit overpriced but offer a great view to the frozen sea and the amazing unbeatable landscape. The room is well equipped, very cozy, comfortable and, well, perfect. It was snowing so we could not see the sky ;0 but waking up with the sunrise over the icy water is astonishing. The...

We came here as part of a package that I had booked and we were reserved but excited at the prospect of staying in the snow castle. We arrived in the middle of the day and were allowed to place our things into an open room which had small lockers to lock up valuables but not big enough for anything...

We were going to stay in the snow hotel but we when we found out that the temperature in the rooms was minus five degrees and you had to go outside to use the bathroom we switched to the glass villas. All the people who stayed in the snow hotel were in the common area first thing in the morning...

Nice to visit but the rooms were pretty bare and set to constant -5. The locker room is tiny, have to leave your luggage accessible to other guests. The only toilets are the public ones outside and that includes the only sinks to brush your teeth. There were tourists in the common room until 9pm making it crowded and noisy....

On the site of the snow castle, this seaside Glass villa accommodation is available. It's very expensive for what is. It's like staying in a mobile home with lots of plastic. The best bit was the heated bathroom floor. Poor availability of restaurant. Arrived at 7.30pm and all that was available was one sandwich to share between 6 people. Go...

We stayed one night in snow castle and one night in olokolo and it was way too long! We couldn't wait to leave the place! There's not much to do in kemi! -the snow castle is amazing, and the experience of sleeping in the ice room is very unique. But my partner and I barely slept despite wearing as many...

How nice it sounds and how good previous recommendations might be... This is not the same place. It really was not what you expect for this money. We stayed on a Monday which is even cheaper than weekend prices... So if you really insist on sleeping in a 'snowcastle' go on a Monday. You have to change in front of...

We had a suite for a night in the Snow Castle and it was an experience. About -5 degrees Celsius (41 F) in the room and really warm sleeping bag for two where to sleep. Tips: wear beanie and light pajamas in the sleeping bag. We had a dinner in the Snow Restaurant and it was kind of a fast...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The SnowCastle of Kemi by the Gulf of Bothnia in Finland is the source of great pride as well as a true showcase of architectonic snow-work of the local constructors. Every winter - since 1996 -the SnowCastle offers wonderful experiences for both children and adults alike. Great light-effects will add to the charm of the snow- and ice-sculpting as well as to the structures about the SnowCastle.
