My 20-something year old son and I were exploring Lapland, sled dogs, snowmobiles, and the Northern Lights in January 2017, and I chose Kultahippu Hotel for our lodging. Glad I did. Located across the street from a well-stocked big box (it had ice fishing tents and M&Ms. What more could you ask?) The gas stations accommodate snowmobiles and there's a...

My husband and I spent one night at Kultahippu in order to adjust to the time difference between the NE US and Ivalo. The room was basic, but we enjoyed the location and shared spaces. SHARED SPACES: There are 3 areas where you can sit outside your rooms. Two are by stairways: the area on the 1st floor has a...

This hotel is (much) more rustic than luxurious, but it's good as a base for arctic activities. I had a two-story room with a sauna inside, and beds in the loft area. Unfortunately the view from the loft is south-facing, which is the wrong direction for aurora viewing. However simply walking outside and around to the other side of the...

We chose Lapland for our honeymoon and stayed a week in the Kultahippu Hotel. The staff was super friendly, always there to help, the food was excellent and we even saw the northern lights from the restaurant (thanks to a staff member warning us). If you want a relaxing vacation, this is the place to be!

We stayed here for one night on our way to northern Finland and found the hotel to be very comfortable, lady at check-in was friendly and food was nice. The room was not big but suitable for our stay, it was warm and clean. The restaurant and bar area is nicely decorated and dinner was good. Breakfast was plentiful. Situated...

This hotel seems to be "THE" place to be on the weekends. During the week it is very quiet and the restaurant/bar close at 9PM. The rooms are very basic and smallish. I was happy to find extra pillows in the closet. The staff was always very helpful and friendly. I would recommend booking some tours for almost every day...

We had 3 nights stay here, and get ourselves a mini suite that comes with a sauna inside the room which is awesome. What we like most is the location, there is supermarket just opposite the property and souvenir shops and restaurants are all nearby. Staffs are friendly especially Elina, she helps you with smile. We love her. Breakfast was...

I stayed in October; first for 2 nights and then later for another 2 nights. Both rooms were small-ish but very comfortable. The bathroom was a very small wet room, this was the only downside of staying here. A big shout out to the very helpful Receptionist Elvira. She made such a difference supplying information and making bookings.

A nice hotel to visit northern lights. Appreciated the receptionist Elina to upgrade our room with a sauna that making us full of warmness. We were very luckily to see the northern lights on the first night just nearby the lake that at the back of the hotel. It was very amusing..

Went solely to see the Northern Lights and we weren't disappointed. Check in was efficient and friendly. Receptionist was especially helpful with advice. Room smelled a little musty but it was clean and everything worked as it should. Bed was comfy and sleep came easy. The restaurant served dinner until 8.00pm and the menu was excellent with several local dishes....
