The hotel consists of two buildings - the old charming manor house and a new building, tastfully done. The yard is dominated by fine oak trees. Accommodation was fine and food as well, all clean and functional. The highlight was meatballs in the breakfast - I usually do not like them, but these were soft and delicious.
Very friendly staff, clean rooms, peaceful and beautiful environment. Worth a visit, if you somehow land in Mikkeli, Finland. Breakfast was quite basic, I'd have hoped a bit more variety. Also, there was no info about the lactose content, which I'd find helpful.
This manor hotel is located in a beautiful, tranquil environment by the lake Saimaa. We stayed in the old manor house, which was very cosy. The room was rather small but nicely decorated in a classic style. There was no air conditioning, but the fan was quiet and efficient, and we had a very good sleep. The breakfast included a good variety cold and warm items to choose from. On a sunny summer morning it was wonderful to have your breakfast on the terrace, with a nice view of the garden. They also had a sauna by the lake to hire, with a nice terrace and a grill. A great place for a summer stay, and very reasonably priced.
We stayed here for one night in the new building (room 205). We had a great view of the forest from our room. The windows could be opened so we didn't need to use the air conditioner the fresh air kept the room cool. The bed was firm but comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. We went on a beautiful walking trail around the lake which took about one hour there and back. If you are arriving after 6 pm in summer then dinner is over and you have to go into town to eat. The dinner buffet is open from 2pm to 6pm. They have so many facilities row boats, swimming in the lake, mini golf, tennis courts, indoor pool, beach volleyball and outdoor gym equipment which we made use of. Our only regret was we weren't there long enough to take advantage of all the activities on offer. Breakfast in the beautiful dining room in the old building with the sun streaming through the windows was lovely.…
Stayed here for the second time this year. First time was in the winter and we liked it. Now, when coming again, it was summertime and it looked all so different; the trees and all the gardening, how nice. We stayed for one night at the new part, the Rustholli, which is modern and very clean. We had a room with a well equipped small kitchen. The airco was wonderfull as it was so hot outside. It is so peacefull, because it is situated far away from any kind of traffic. You can really relax and enjoy about the peacefull atmosphere here. The receptionist was very friendly and helpfull, although was more busy with working with the pc. In the lobby there was a small bar, where you can grab a coffee, ice cream or an apperative. Children are not forgotten, as there are games etc. available. The rooms are very modern and clean. Not much space, but then, it keeps you away from laying on the bed and watch TV. Lot of space for clothes and other gear. The beds are good, but maybe a little bit narrow for an adult. Bathroom is very well equipped. The rooms are very silent. You can sleep very well and if for some strange reason, you might hear something, there are even ear plugs in the drawer! The sauna downstairs is good as well is the spa -department. It had a nice relaxing atmosphere. The beach sauna was not available so no experience from that part. So instead of that we took a round of a 18 hole minigolf, which was fun. The breakfast was served at the old part of the manor. This is a nice renovated and decorated building, which has a restaurant and also guest rooms. The breakfast was good with plenty items to choose from. Thank you for the fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and salad! The service was also very friendly! It was nice to stay here again, but one night is not enough. Next time I will stay longer.…
We stayed at Kyyhkylä Manor Hotel one night in the beginning of June. Our room was in the historical and idyllic Manor house, beautifully decorated in romantic style, comfortable, quiet and clean. The hotel is located in a beautiful rural setting by lake Saimaa. There is a 10 minutes drive to Mikkeli. Breakfast was buffet style and of a good quality. As the morning was warm, we had our breakfast outside in the terrace enjoying the beautiful view. Perfect.
Well equiped nice rooms. Great breakfast buffee. Buffee service could be a bit better. Few empty plates on the buffee could be found. I would most definetly recommend the place for peace loving nature friend. We stayed in the new Rustolli hotel. It was new and good looking house. They could have selected less noisy air conditioning system to otherwise perfect building. We asked for private sauna but the price scared us. They sell only 2 hour sessions with 200Eur/2h.
We stayed in this rural hotel for 4 days as part of a holiday in Finland. The room was well furnished in modern Scandinavian style, spacious, and immaculately clean. The hotel spa and sauna were new and beautifully designed. The hotel location was perfect as it was a 10 minute drive from Mikkeli but located in a beautiful rural setting. The hotel is on the lake shore where there is a small cafe and large group sauna - idyllic. Rowing boats are available to take out on the lake and bicycles can be hired. Breakfast was buffet style and of a high standard. We ate dinner in the hotel dining room on 3 occasions and found the standard of food to be high although the menu was limited. All in all we loved our stay at the Manor and are considering going back to Finland next year and would certainly stay here again.…
We visited Kyyhkyla Manor Hotel inspired by their couples -campaign. Kyyhkyla advertised a special weekend offer for couples arriving at selected weekends. The package included bottle of sparkling wine & chocolates upon arrival and assorted cheeses brought to the room during the second day. Our room was located in the new hotel building (we knew to ask for this based on the previous review!) and everything in the room was really impeccable, in excellent condition. The view was towards forest which definitely is the private side of the building and can be recommended as the other side of the new hotel faces the manor building and yard where pretty much everyone is walking during daytime. In our room we had the kitchenette equipment; refrigerator, microwave oven, electric water heater and mugs, plates etc. cutlery for 4 persons. The kitchen area as well as every smallest corner in the room was very clean and like said, in perfect condition. Point to notice for those who like to sleep in dark: the room had long blackout curtains that allowed the room to be turned almost pitch black. The only exception were the sides which let some light through, but nevertheless the curtain arrangement was way better than in many hotels which we have seen. The room was equipped with flat screen TV, small safe with combination lock to be set by the guest (fit for 14" laptop), desk, cabinets, and in our room we had two separate beds. The receptionist told us that also double beds are available in some rooms. Wireless network connection was free and worked perfect for us, both in mobile and laptop. The hotel has good material about rooms and equipments in their website. These new hotel rooms are best introduced in their downloadable brochure. Breakfast was served in the old side, Manor building. They offered both warm and cold options in buffet setting. The selection was not the widest that we have seen in this type of hotels, but good enough to get you going for the day. We also took one evening meal at the Manor restaurant. Dinner was served to table with fixed menu of the day, including starter, main and desert with coffee or tea. This had to be booked in advance by 4pm and the serving took place at 6pm. Food was again good enough (do not expect high-end international kitchen) and for us very satisfactory. The portions were tasty and what should be mentioned separately: they were large enough for the hungriest ones too! Compared to the option of driving to city center looking for a restaurant... it was sure the best choice to stay in, have everything ready-made for you and then just stroll back to your room. As the hotel is located outside of city, you need to have a car or prepare to take taxi for any travel to shopping etc. However, if you prefer to enjoy the nature and services available in the hotel and just relax, this is very nice place to do so. As almost nothing is perfect, we also had two negative observations during our stay. First one was the bed which was clearly on the harder side and I could feel that in my muscles on the morning. Second, strange observation, was a noise in our room, perhaps air conditioning or some other technical system but something was making loud humming noise all the time during our stay. If you are used to city noises day and night then this could be nothing to be mentioned, but for us who live in the countryside this noise was louder than expected nor experienced in many other hotels. Service in the hotel was very good, people were helpful and for us Kyyhkyla hotel is sure in our list to come back to when we next travel near Mikkeli.…
We had a conference meeting at Kyyhkylä, with some 80 participators including wives, during two days in mid June. Kyyhkylä people organized the program, tours, lake cruises, two dinners, saunas and sight seeings in the tiny Mikkeli area. The weather was perfect and the countryside landscape among the best Finland can offer. Everything worked timely and well, the staff is very friendly and the smallish manor restaurant served the formal dinner very well. The hotel claims to have a free internet local area network which might be so, but my laptop did not catch it in the room. I did not however try at the small lobby but used a blue tooth/mobile phone instead, which roamed well. Kyyhkylä is a small, old manor house with surrounding buildings located in the Finnish countryside some 15 minutes drive from Mikkeli. The countryside is ideal for family relaxation and conferences and the best access is by car - there is abundant parking space. We enjoyed the nature walks, swimming in the lake, saunas and the smallish pool, and the good although a bit pricey restaurant and very nice lakeside coffee shop. The key word for this place is is "relax and enjoy" and with a car this can be a nice base to move around in the area. We had a room in the brand new part of the Kyyhkylä hotel. The room is very modern with flat TV screen, central heating and air conditioning and a good bathroom, so I recommend considering this part of the hotel. My colleagues which were lodged at the "old" part had during this very hot weekend (and consequently a very hot room) did not sleep well due to the heat, and blamed visiting, flying and stinging insects at night when the windows had to be kept open. Part of the Finnish nature and landscape. If you want to enjoy nice Finnish countryside, relax and have a calm vacation with good services, but not too far from a city, Kyyhkylä could be a good place. I was positively surprised. But do not expect city activities.…
