Detailed Reviews
Art exhibition was nice, beautiful pieces of Russian art, surroundings and building's were clean and practical, restaurant and shop were nicely decorated. The lady who worked in the shop was super nice and helpful big thanks to her.
Unfortunately the tall man who worked in the shop was rude (especially to women customer's) . Lastly food in restaurant was really good and allergies was not made a problem.

The location is nice and the story too. The people there were very hospitable and helpful. However, it was a disappointment because so much more could be shared and educated. We did not see any apparent monks, the sheep were about 6, the dinner and breakfast buffets are just sad - they could be offering home made bread and Borscht soup. We could not get a tasting of their wine because it had to be order before hand (something that is so easy to do on the spot). So much potential to make this a special visit to share tradition and create a great memory. I hope they take note of these simple observations.

A spontaneous and quick explore to Valamo during a business trip nearby. Absolutely beautiful place. Lot of beautiful flowers, a possibility to stay overnight and eat. Because of the covid-19, buffet lunch was not available, but somekind of lunch was. However, I must say it was horrible. A dry kiova chicken with "rubber potatoes" and awful cauliflower and pees. Otherwise the place was worth to see.

It's exactly what one would expect from a monastery, except the tourist-oriented vibe. The rooms are a bit spartan but clean, and the bed was more than OK, plus it's really silent at night, so a good rest is guaranteed. The breakfast is basic: mostly vegetables, bread and cheese. Basically what you are doing here is supporting the monastery, which is quite interesting given its history. It is a very relaxing and cultural experience.

I had a pleasant stay with a friend here during July. Room is not modern but clean and functional. Obviously you don't have television here. Breakfast was included in the price and the breakfast buffet was good but basic.
Service in the reception was friendly and helpful.
You need a car to accommodate here.

Great place to visit and stay couple of days. Monastery area with 2 churches is worth of seeing as is. We participated in guided 1h tour (6€/person) which was informative and quite exiting.
Room was quite nice and small reflecting heart and soul of this area. Buffet, eveing tea and breakfast was ok.

The monastery itself is not on display really. More like just the church.
I have visited many monasteries abroad and this is a rare example in Finland.
The feeling was quite touristy, but I guess that is normal when that is the main income?!
They had a boat ferry, church concert, an Art exhibition, winery shop and a flee market and a cafe/diner.
We walked around, took pictures and enjoyed the summer day.
Not the most typical destination but I would still recommend.
The food at the diner smelled bad but it was some fish stuff.

You could almost say, that Valamo is a Heaven on Earth. Athmosphere is unique and you can find yourself wandering around the area just thinking what to think. It is not coincidence, that many artist, poets etc. use to visit Valamo to find inspiration for their work.
Orthodox tradition shows in Valamo in many ways. For example Slavic menu is worth of testing.
Abobe all, Valamo is a place to relax, to have a moment or two for yourself or with your loved ones.
