I’ve stayed at Avalon hotel a number of times and am always so happy and satisfied. Everything is great and personal - from entering the reception to check-out. The staff is supernice and serviceminded to thir toes. The absolute best time to visit is when the roof-top pool is open - then it is complete! Go there and enjoy! By the way - it’s located in the hot spot of Göteborg.
I have stayed in Gothenburg a lot over the last two years mainly in the central area. I initially stayed in four different hotels and even though passed the Avalon a number of times thought it might not be right for me. Sometimes hotels with great locations don’t try so hard, it’s not the case at this hotel. The hotel itself has obviously been designed with a great deal of detail and a certain style. The family who own this hotel have created something quite different and special. Rooms are great/not too pretentious. The difference with this place really is the people, clearly well trained with great attention to detail..... a really great place .... find it for your first visit rather than “trying” several of the obvious choices of hotel.
We are regular visitors to the Avalon and every visit has surpassed our expectations. What makes this hotel so inviting is not just the fabulous rooms (we always take a room on the 6th floor as they have balconies with views of Gothenburg) or the great food but also the staff. It is a family run hotel and you feel like a member of the family when you walk in. They are so polite and we go above and beyond. Marcus the manager is brilliant nothing is too much trouble for him. I would highly recommend the Avalon if you visit Gothenburg.
Perfectly located among excellent restaurants, pubs and shops; very nice rooms (especially the ones with a central bath) and comfy beds. A bit noisy outside in the weekends from parties on their way to and from entertainment. Lobby a bit small for hanging out in, on the other hand there are lots of coffee shops etc around.
Perfectly located by Saluhallen. Got a room to the south which meant a very warm room, it was nearly 30 degrees centigrade outside. The AC didn’t manage to get it cool. Changed room and it was a bit cooler but not as we expected. The rooms we got were good in sizes, the so called design armchairs were a bit uncomfortable to sit in. The other had a little sofa which was better. Good size bathrooms. The light in the room was from spotlights in the ceiling and therefore a little dark. The Corona breakfast was well executed with bread slices individually packed in little plastic bags. Also other things like a bit of cheese or jam was individually packed. The warm things like bacon or scrambled eggs was ordered by the table. Although they tried to tell the guests to go one by one it was a little tight where you went to get the breakfast you prefer. The staff wasn’t as professional as you might think in a hotel of this caliber. The reception staff was friendly but when asked different questions they were uncertain. Some of the cleaning staff didn’t say hello in the corridor. I told the breakfast staff that there wasn’t any white bread which I prefer. I waited a bit, nothing happened and then reminded her. Oh, sorry I forgot it was the answer. I was surprised that there were a few in the breakfast staff that didn’t speak Swedish. There is a little pool on the roof. Parking service that is too expensive, although it’s a safe way to keep your car. If you want to charge your electric car while it’s parked you have to pay even more. I would give this hotel another chance mainly because of the location and they can’t help that it’s very hot outside.…
