It was a hostel, a warm bed at night, no frills, cheap €20 per night. Only a short tram ride from city centre. Walking distance from slottsskogen, a large beautiful park, a paradise for those who just love to walk.

Backpackers Goteborg is in a smart suburban neighbourhood, a comfortable 40-minute walk from the City Centre, or a short tram ride. The beds were comfortable, and the curtains, power sockets and lockers were all great additions. The lounge area was nice, but got quite busy during meal times, and as many of the rooms were close by, noise was often heard until the early hours of the morning. I did not try the breakfast for 75SEK.

I stayed in the female dorm for 2 separate nights over a long weekend (Thursday and Sunday). The bed had a curtain (great to have privacy and to not be woken up by lights!), a reading light, a socket and a net pouch to put your things. I also liked that the lockers are quite big. The detail of having a vanity table for the ladies was nice. I didn't use the kitchen but it was roomy, with lots of kitchenware and 2 fridges. Next to it was the dinner table and a small common area. Around the corner were the bathrooms. There were around 8 or 9, each with their own shower, toilet and sink. At the reception desk, I probably dealt with 4 or 5 different people. I don't remember their names (sorry!), but were all nice and helpful. I left my bag at their storage before doing my check-in. Breakfast was also good and varied (for 7 euros in Sweden, it's a good deal; of course, you can always go to the supermarket). As for the activities, I went to the karaoke night on Thursday with Petter and had a blast! Great way to meet other folks staying at the hostel. I'm sad I missed the pub crawl on Friday. Despite what other review said, I found the hostel well connected by public transport. Do yourself a favor and buy at least a one-day ticket, then make the most of it and go to the archipielago. Viewpoins at a walking distance from the hostel are Stora and Skansen Kronan, from where you can continue walking to Haga. All in all, I found the hostel provided a great value for the price I paid (considering it's Sweden!).

This hostel was okay. Locationwise, 40 minute walk from the station. Very hilly walk so if you struggle with bags you'll need to arrange transport. Read reviews saying there was activities organised every night. I stayed in the 16 bed mals dorm and no such thing was communicated. At either check in or later. Kitchen had pasta and suitable cooking facilities. Room was comfortable but this isn't the most social hostel you will stay in. 2 Powerpoints by your bed were good and the locker under your bed was of decent size. Toilets and showers were good. Sometimes smelt but you're not at the Ritz. Midday checkout was great. Wifi was good Nearby Skansen Kronan was the best place to see a view of the city. Nearby there is a decent supermarket just down the road a 4 minute walk. Overall. Okay hostel. Just shame about location being so far from the central station and basic common room.

Hello and thank you for your comments! We are sorry to hear we couldn't live up to your expectations! Regarding the activities, last summer we did activities every day, but right now we only do them in the weekends, Thursday to Sunday. I'm sorry this wasn't mentioned to you when you checked in. We are as you say about 30-40 minute walk from the central station, but there are several trams and buses stopping close to us and it takes about 10-15 minutes to get here with the public transports. Hope to see you again someday! Best regards Dennis Backpackers Göteborg

We stayed here for one night only. The staff was very nice and the room was clean. For this price you just can't say something negative. I was suprised how comfortable the bed was actually. Totally recommend the hostel for a couple of nights when you have a limited budget. Cheers Pavel
