Just completed a two night stay in a Deluxe balcony room on the 6th floor of Comfort Göteborg, and while the room itself was light and modern looking with wonderful views and a nicely appointed, roomy balcony, the stay as a whole left a lot to be desired. Let’s start off with the bathroom. It looked nice enough for a Swedish hotel, but the shower’s tiled floor was absolutely disgusting. It had clearly not been cleaned at all - not even with water - for a VERY long time. When you pointed the shower head towards the floor, both old soap residue and hair came off every single inch of the tiles. This was certainly not from just one guest, so the housekeeping staff clearly does not clean the shower floors at all. I’ve stayed at hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hotels and I’ve never ever had such a disgusting shower experience. Just ewww. Another MAJOR issue is that the hotel has a noisy rooftop bar that makes their deluxe rooms (all of which situated on the 6th floor, just below the rooftop bar) sound like a club. Judging from both my conversations with the front desk staff and previous Tripadvisor reviews, this complaint is extremely common, and one questions why the hotel doesn’t just turn down the volume a bit. If you choose to stay here, go for a standard room and ask for a low floor, preferably as far from the bar as possible. The third major issue was the hotel’s covid-19 response. The staff did not wear face masks despite Nordic Choice policy (and common sense) to do so. There was a complete lack of plexiglass shielding across the hotel. The hotel did have a TV screen next to the elevators asking people to please stay 3ft apart, but come on, that’s half the distance recommended by health authorities. Unacceptable. Our room was also uncomfortably cold with ice cold radiators despite the outside temperature being below freezing. When we brought this to the front desk’s attention, we got a space heater, but when we plugged it in, it blew a fuse and the room turned pitch black. While not a major issue, it didn’t exactly help the hotel’s overall impression. That said, it’s not all bad. The hotel has a good downtown location, the beds were slightly above average, the breakfast selection was good, and they have a heated basement garage. If you go with a standard room on a low floor, I think that you will be happy. But, if you want a nicer room, you should look elsewhere - I know I will (until hotel management changes cleaning protocols and turns down the music from the rooftop bar.)

Hotel's Favorite
I had a single room but the bed was v comfortable and room was of an ok size. Great choice for breakfast. Hotel was v busy so they encouraged staggered breakfast times. Near tram stops and ferry and 15 mins walk to Central Station. Friendly hotel staff. DId not use the gym in hotel but used the sauna which was really good. I even had a take away breakfast made for me when I left before 5am!

The hotel is located in the city center close to shopping, restaurants and museums. Our room was of good size with an amazing sea view. The breakfast was OK but rather basic (no bacon). The staff was kind. There is a garage in the same building as the hotel.

Stayed for one night work-related. Comfort Hotel Gothenburg is a member of Nordic Choice group. Comfort Hotel is sort of their low cost alternative, but don't let that put you off. This hotel is located close to the channel in Gothenburg not far from citycentre. Just nearby Stenpiren Resecentrum which is a hub for trams, buses and ferries, so getting to/from the hotel is really easy. However, I do recommend walking since there's much to explore. The rooms are ok. Clean and spacious depending on which category you choose. No kettle/tea/coffee in the room though. If you get a room on the higher levels you may enjoy a beautiful view. Ask when booking. There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity so dinner is a breeze. Breakfast ok, no bacon though. Lobby and lounge area is cosey and well planned, so keeping up the social distancing is no problem. Affordable accommodation without any surprises. Plus for very professional and courteous staff, a small minus for no bacon at breakfast. Tip: if you find yourself in need of a taxi I highly recommend MiniTaxi or Uber which in my experience is both safe and cheap. Also, avoid the electric scooters that are widely available if you're not used to the traffic in Gothenburg. There are a LOT of bicycles, pedestrians, cars, trams and buses in the citycentre. Would definitely stay here again!
