The staff was incredible. The location you cannot beat, but the rooms were very dark. We had wished for more light in the room. It was hard to read at night before going to bed. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. The breakfast is okay that is included. Don't eat the eggs. They are powdered.
Clarion Hotel Post I have stayed here few times for business trip. The location is very good, near the train station and the shopping streets. Breakfast is very good, but the rooms needs to be updated.
Has management understaffed? The cleaning was lacking, especially in the common areas. And we got a “minibar inspection” in the middle of the day, for some reason? (We had not used it). All the services that are advertised are expensive addons, and there is no secure Wi-Fi. For 1700 SEK a night I would expect at least a dust-free tea-kettle to be included. This is overpriced for an “Ok” experience. Is is in a good, central location and has a friendly staff. That is the best thing I can say about it.
I now understand some of the low rating reviews. While we liked the breakfast the location and the look of the lobby, there were both big and small annoyances throughout our stay Big annoyance - they cancelled my reservation by accident. Took me like several days to reinstate and a ton of stress - rooftop pool is not free and $25 per person per day and booking it is a hassle. - norda restaurant food is average horrible ceasar but okay burger. Service was horrid Small annoyances - elevators keep going out of service - we had superior room which an upgrade but still small. No closet space. All functions but for $270 a night for a week. Not a good value - call twice about a slow draining sink and no one came to fix it - shower is super strong and amazing but it leaks water everywhere - bar below plays music until 1 am. We were in 4011 with a good view but ……
Nice hotel, but too expensive unless you're travelling and don't plan to leave the hotel. Bread and rolls at the breakfast is very swedish, soft and disappointing. This is probably a problem all over Sweden. Not limited to the hotel. Minibar prices are not available. There was a claim that it should be on the TV. Not true.. No information about breakfast hours was found. Took a guess and it was a fairly good guess.
We weren’t warned it was the international football tournament and the hotel was jam packed. We did wonder why we paid top dollar. We stayed 7 years back and the buffet breakfast was also much larger and impressive. I was amazed that you had to pay 250 Kronor for 2 hours at the pool. I never saw that mentioned anywhere. We have travelled all over the world and never had to pay to use the facilities. My daughter got engaged so we wanted to celebrate with champagne. The cheapest bottle was $145 Australian dollars. Of course it is a beautiful hotel, right next to the station and an easy walk to everything but I didn’t feel it was worth the money.
Our standard double room at the hotel was the perfect size. Very clean and the bed was extremely comfy. We enjoyed the rooftop pool which was worth the extra money with incredible views of Gothenburg. We also enjoyed an incredible meal at Norda which I would 100% recommend visiting if you decide to stay! Will definitely be returning :)
Hey! Seriously, I have to tell you) I tried twice, once on reception, second to some employe. In room I stayed didn’t work: 1. Electric kettle 2. Bedside lamp 3. Watering can in bath 4. Cork in the sink. Ok, it’s not so big things, except tea maker, but I asked twice to replace it. And it wasn’t. Also, in app I had checkout time 12 pm. At the hotel I found that it is 11am. I’ve got letter from hotel, with information, where you say, that swimming pool is free to use for guests, staying at the hotel on sundays, mondays and Tuesdays. But it wasn’t true - I had to pay. Don’t you think there is something wrong with all this things? I’m shocked honestly, how bad it can be. Just like basket with errors. Btw, it was clean! So cleaning department working well!) And, porridge in the morning, it’s what I expect as a guest with child, to feed him in 4 stars hotel. Not pancakes. Every day. Best regards. …
Stayed here through the Volvo Experience, a type of packaged deal. However, they did not cut any corners. All of the staff were exceptionally helpful and cheerful. Definitely recommend. Can not comment on value because Volvo covered the cost.
Not happy. I came down with Covid three days after my stay here. I strongly believe that I caught it at breakfast at this hotel. While the food choice is varied, breakfast here was a sanitary mess. It was like eating at a cross between a dirty cafeteria and a massive train station. Difficult to find a table for three people, dirty plates everywhere, the floor was sticky. The worst part was the serving utensils with the handles that 300 people touched sitting directly on top of the food. Severely overcrowded and loud. Tight tables with no person space. Nothing relaxing about it. The room was average at best. Just a normal hotel room (that are probably due for a refurbishment soon) - similar to a Marriott Courtyard. The decor within the entire hotel seems dark and dated. They make you pay for the pool and it is quite expensive. The Norda Restaurant on the second floor was an expensive disappointment. Normally I love chef Marcus Samuelsson's food, but not there - but that is a separate review. On the positive side, the location could not be better. Right in the center of town next to the Central Train Station, smaller botanical gardens, shopping mall and major pedestrian streets. The staff was friendly. And in case you are wondering if I really came down with Covid or am just exaggerating....I did. Tested positive yesterday. Super annoyed because I am sure that I got it at the Clarion Post.…
