On the face of it, this hotel should be a winner. A great location right in the heart of Gothenburg with easy access via train, bus, boat and tram, a lovely bar and a restaurant on site, together with friendly staff. What’s not to like? Unfortunately, the rooms in the old wing of the hotel. There is no climate control or air conditioning in the rooms, and if you therefore need to open a window to cool, you will get city centre noise all night. My room had worn and dated furniture, but the biggest surprise was that it had curtains which simply didnt fit the windows - big gaps either side. If your idea of a good nights sleep is quiet, dark and at a sensible temperature, then these rooms will do literally nothing for you. Also note that the hotel’s restaurant does not open on several week nights - although there are plenty of other options nearby. Worth noting that the breakfast venue gets crowded quite early too.…
untight window with below-20-degrees Celsius temperature in the room, queues at breakfast, shortage of bread, slow reception people, no ironing board in the whole hotel but iron at room, bad geolocation of the hotel, great location in the city centre
Name deserved it Opera.. I stayed like opera. Few things can recheck it again means then everything was good. Breakfast is served good. If you provide room service related to food then it be very helpful.
Note that cleaning for this hotel only means making the bed and providing you with new towels and soap. They forgot to clean one day and we had to go down and ask for towels The buffet was very messy and the personnel didn’t always use glowed when touching the food When asked about more knives, the answer was that they probably were in the dishwasher and they didn’t know when it was done Hotel room very small and used
The interior in our room on the 4th floor were really out of date and a disappointment. Considering the price we paid we'd expect a more modern and lighter room. The climate control didn't work and we had to ask someone to come and open the window for us since the handles were removed. The staff seemed uninterested in supplying extra ordinary service and responded slowly and without any enthusiasm. How is it possible to let a receptionist new to the job cover the desk alone in a fully booked hotel claiming to be 4 star?
I have not stayed this property on previous stays in Gothenburg - maybe due to this visit I found it better value for money. The service, property & room was very good. Comfortable size room & bathroom. Breakfast restaurant was very good with friendly staff. Hotel being 1 minute's walk from the train station is very convenient - and also it's proximity to the rest of town. My only pet peev with hotels; My request for an early check-in (noon), was declined. I understand during high season when availability is tight, but I am a staunch believer in low season when availability exists, there is scope to win favouritism and customer loyalty with this little bit of flexibility - it doesn't cost anything to allow guests to check in an hour or two earlier. Other than that - very much enjoyed my visit.…
We only stayed one night here the day before we needed to catch an early train. Staff were very friendly at check in and catered to our needs e.g. bag store and ordering take out breakfast. Rooms were reasonably basic, but exactly what we would need even if staying longer. Location was excellent and a short walk to the local station and trams, so it is easy to get about. I was most impressed with the take out breakfast service. There was no faffing around the next morning, especially as we needed to get off quickly to get our train, and the breakfasts were waiting for us when we checked out. They contained sandwich, yoghurt/granola, and juice and there was also an option of a take away hot drink. I was very impressed with how organised they were and we definitely didn't see similar treatment in other hotels on our travels around Sweden.…
Close to central station (around 5mins), and Nordstan shopping mall (this mall alone can keep you busy for half a day), there are restaurants, shops and cheap supermarkets in it. It's also not far from other attractions that you could easily reach by foot like thr Gothenburg Cathedral, and was around 30mins away from Haga Nyata and maybe 40 mins away from the Skansen Kronan. Rooms are quite small without much amenities. There's no fridge, but there's a boiler. There's no hair dryer either. Breakfast is good with quite alot of food choices.
Service and location is great! Room is clean and neat. Breakfast buffet is wonderful! Till next weekend escape! View is okay because it is located in the central, very close to Central station and Nordstan, so if you love shopping it's just around the corner.
I head read some iffy reviews on this hotel and arrived with low expectations but I was very pleasantly surprised. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short city break. My only gripe was that some of the restaurant staff weren’t very pleasant. The rooms are small but have everything you need.
