Travel half a century back in time (ok not really, but almost) and enjoy this small and cosy establishment. Rooms are superbly refurbished so dont worry about that. Super cute and friendly staff. I was the only guest at breakfast, mid week low season, and got the royal treatment. TV was a bit dated and not working so well but... More

Very small hotel in the charmning "Old Town" Stockholm in a very old house (16th Century). Rooms large and very comfortable, beds very good, very quite on a small Square but very central. Good breakfast, very helpful people. Simply a lovely place

What a lovely place this is. We arrived rather late. There isn't a reception, but you phone the number on the window to get the code. Just after you enter on the left is the little café. Croissants, cookies and fruit are ready for the quests. On our room a small bottle of prosecco and more goodies. It is not... More

This hotel is very well situated, right in the heart of Gamla Stan. The great advantage of this is that it allows you to experience the old town at night when it is at its most atmospheric, and is also much, much less busy with tourists - which kind of ruins it during the day (for me anyway). Lots of... More

Very nice place, don't think there is a hotel more in the centre of Stockholm. Positive: Centre of old town Authentic old building Good beds Nice interior Good shower Very nice breakfast Small refrigerator in room Coffee / tea maker Free cookies Negative Room is tilted a lot (like sleeping in the Tower of Pisa) Noise of other rooms (especially... Absolutely fantastic hotel. Staff couldn't do enough for you, we stay with a 3 month baby and they let us use their microwave to sterilise his bottles. Great location in the old town, walking distance to great restaurants and shops. Rooms stunning and full of character.

My wife and I booked this hotel because it looked charming and interesting. It is located in the Old Town and is close to everything. The room we stayed was excellent, spacious and clean. The breakfast was simple, nothing special. The only real problem is that the streets around the hotel were very noisy. We endured two sleepless nights of... More

Sven Vintaparre is located in the middle of Gamla Stan in a building dating back to the early 17th century (don't worry, it's been renovated since then). Our room was on the second floor which was great because the building does not have an elevator. I was quite surprised by the size of the room given the age of the... More

This hotel from 1607 should really be called a bed & breakfast. It is small, old historic building with just a few rooms and very personal service - just like a good B&B. In fact my wife commented that this was the best B&B we have ever visited. We arrived after hours and door was locked with a sign to... More

We stayed in a cozy lovely room at this small hotel in Gamla Stan. The location was perfect for strolling in the old town in the evening. The room was perfect for us..... it made me feel like we were living in a time not as rushed and crazy as 2015. It was a perfect visit with the staff being... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
