Located at the old town, one will find his way easily around. The hostel is located mostly under the level of the ground, tiny windows in each room, but all was fine for me. Just remember to read the booking carefully, take your sheets etc to save money. Kind staff, had no problems at all.

No where near as lovely and bright as the pictures make it look. Only good thing is the location in the old town. The guy on the "reception desk" was not very helpful when me and my friend showed up at 1030 fresh off our ferry to leave our bags. He was to busy talking to other guests to inform...

The location of this hostel is pretty good. It's located in the old part but the new part is about 15 minutes walking away. You get a code for the front door so you can enter, they have quite some rooms available. The sanitary is okay but the showers are a bit weird and cheap. There is quite a big...

+Found a room at 4 pm and I was alone in the 6 bed rooms. +The price is reasonable for the gammla stan, but you can find cheaper options too. +Very nice neighborhood in the touristic part of Stockholm, close to public transportation - The rooms actually stink - You have to pay extra 50 sek for bed sheet which...

+ The hostel is amazingly well located. It looks well preserved, with new paintings and a clean look. The room have no windows since it's an underground hostel, so it's dark and it's kept pretty clean. The beds are ok, nothing exceptional but not unconfortable as well. Friendly staff. Good WiFi. - The rooms are too cold, at least during...

The location is perfect - right in the heart of the old town. I met many others young travelers You need to pay for a key for the lockers. The lockers are too small. There are no bathrooms inside the rooms - the bathrooms are common for the whole floor.

Good location, excellent breakfast.Friendly staff ready to help, speaking good English. Easy to find. The sleeping and bathing facilitiies could be better. Reasonable price for Stokholm, though could be less for economy rooms.

At first we where very enthusiastic about the hostel because we never before slept in a basement. When we arrived 2h earlyer our room was already ready for us which was great but when we entered the room, it was very small for four people. Bed linen are mandatory but if you don't have your own with you, you have...

Overall our stay was fine. We enjoyed ourselves. Although the hostel really needs some urgent TLC - starting in the bedrooms finishing in the washrooms. We were three people in our four bed dorm but found it rather crowded as there isn't much space to put things. Everyday we were hoping that we didn't get another person in our room...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
