Excellent location as we went to the Theatre and saw ”En man som heter Ove”. Debrief with friends in the bar after the wonderful experience. Lovely breakfast and then heading for home. Plus for serviceminded staff. We’ll be returning to Rival!
The hotel remains excellent in terms of comfort, decor, facilities, service and of course, location. The new Tavernan is if anything even better than the Cafe Rival was. The unique interior design has aged well over the course of 20 years. The location is one of Stockholm's best - Sodermalm is less obviously upmarket than some other parts of Stockholm, but charming and stylish. It's worth exploring the island in its own right, as well as using it as a base to see the rest of the city. Many of the locations from the Stieg Larsson novels are set here e.g. Blomfeld's (fictional) apartment not far down the road. Breakfasts are justly renowned.
I wish I could return to Stockholm and if I do I will stay here for sure. Great service, great breakfast, good location. The room was large and clean. I love the area the hotel is located. Parking was available. I highly recommend this hotel.
It's my third annual week-long stay at Rival. The place never really lets you down. The staff is excellent. The rooms have everything you need to feel at home, and the location is perfect. I travel a fair deal in my festival director role, thee RIVAL breakfast buffet and service is better than some fice star establishments out on the continent. Admittedly, I have managed to get a good deal for my return visits. But, I date to say that this hotel is worth every penny you pay for it. The newly refurb of the ground level cafe to a Taverna is a huge improvement. It's pricey, but oh so delicious! Great waiting staff as well. Overall, the front desk and Watson's Bar staff are fabulous too. I had a few pointers that I would give to the housekeeping, but don't want to be petty, especially as the hotel makes such an effort overall. Also, they always remember my birthday which always falls during my work week in Stockholm, with a personalised card and gifts awaiting me in my room upon check-in. I long after my next stay! Thank you for being great!…
This hotel is absolutely excellent! Breakfast is great. The bar open 24hours with coffee, tea, ice and cookies is very useful. Beds are extremely comfortable, even blankets, which looked small and poor were very warm and cosy! I deeply rekommend this hotel!
This boutique hotel with 99 rooms was founded in September 2003 at Mariatorget in Södermalm. It was our first time visiting this trendy hotel owned by ABBA's Benny Andersson. The hotel is highly rated and so very popular. The prices are quite high starting from nearly 300 euros for standard rooms. We booked a Deluxe Balcony room with a Date Night Package which included one night stay, a bottle of sparkling wine, a three-course dinner, breakfast buffet, and late checkout (2 PM). The price was 460 euros and had better value than booking the room without the package for 90 euros less. The room was spacious and the balcony was nice despite the views being mainly trees from the 4th floor. You could hear the fountain behind the trees but not see it. Luckily, we got our room on the 4th floor. There are no coffee-making facilities in the room but a coffee station on the 4th floor. We had just 10 meters there and it was easy to fetch our morning coffee. The breakfast had a good selection of high-quality food. There was even sparkling wine which is very rare at Scandinavian hotels. Our dinner was okay but not so enjoyable that we would book it again. Only the main courses were tasty. The service was very friendly everywhere.…
I loved my stay! This is an amazing hotel, with beautiful rooms, tasty food and friendly staff. Close to public transport too! Looking forward to my next Stockholm trip and will certainly book here again.
Our stay at Hotel Rival was great - we spent a week here in your beautiful city. The hotel is perfectly placed - a lovely neighbourhood, with easy access to the other areas of the city, by walking, the ferry or the metro. Our room was a little small, but I think that is not unexpected in a capital city, where space is at a premium. Rooms were spotlessly clean and contained everything you could need. The bed was very comfortable and the room (facing the rear of the hotel, on the 4th floor) was very quiet. We loved the coffee station on the floor, with fruit and biscuits. This gave much better tea and coffee than you would get from an individual machine/kettle in your room. The hotel is very well designed, with lovely bars and restaurant and even a concert venue in the basement. There was an event on one evening, whilst we stayed and even though there were 750 people, you could not hear the event from the rest of the hotel. The food in the hotel and cafe-bar was great and the staff very friendly and efficient and spoke excellent English. Thank you for a lovely stay.…
When in Stockholm, stay here! An incredible breakfast selection and a very comfortable room. Staff are extremely friendly and the amenities are great! It’s my second time staying here and will be back!
Absolutely loved this hotel! The room was great, really liked the neighborhood and the staff was FANTASTIC. Big thanks to Frida, Michelle and Richard. They were so nice and helpful as was the young man at night (don’t know his name). Bar was terrific too. Would stay again in a heartbeat Thank you all
