When my daughter told me we would be staying together in a converted prison cell while visiting Stockholm, I wondered how we would "fit"! I had travelled from Australia with a large suitcase and was accustomed to the Australian way of large hotel rooms. Langholmen Hostel exceeded my expectations! The use of space and clever design in our cell with...

Four of us shared a cell here. We had two bunk beds and a table and chairs in our room. The showers and toilets were just along the corridor. The hostel was spotlessly clean. The beds were really comfortable. Absolutely loved it here. Lots and lots of fun. Thinking of bringing the family back to stay here.

The hotel is former prison and rooms are converted prison cells. The room was clean and well equipped with everything you need. Excellent hotel and reasonable price. It is one of the most remarkable experience I've ever had.

Did not know what to expect. A bit of a walk without much signage, which at night is difficult. With a phone call staff helped me find way (door closest to 3 flagpoles). Staff were very lively and helpful. Service was good, WC and showers clean. Shower had good pressure. Although could hear both men's and women's toilets filling in...

Love the prison theme and the museum! The staff members were very friendly, everything was clean. We had an ensuite room and the shower was amazing. The guest kitchen was massive and had many stoves available, so never had to wait around. Location is good, but given its history, there is quite a bit of a walk before you get...

The place is awesome! staying in a prison is something special. Location is great: langholmen is nice, there's a beach just up front the hotel. A short walk to the metro, or a longer walk to Gamla Stan (30minutes). Nice area with lots of boats and kayaks. Very nice breakfast. quick check-in and check-out. Friendly staff. We had a family...

My daughter aged 2 is allergic to milk and eggs - the breakfast buffet catered brilliantly to her needs without me even needing to enquirer - plenty of soya and oat milk and yoghurt and all allergens clearly marked. Breakfast was also delicious! Lots of choice. Rooms have all you need, setting brilliant for access to town and tube etc,...

Really cool little hostel hidden within a converted prison, which is also a working museum. We had a great time. It's a good location. Steeped in history and the museum is worth a wander round. Can't miss it, you'll be living in it. Only down side was bumping into tourists when walking out of the shower room, especially large groups....

If your looking for an inexpensive hostel/hotel in central Stockholm on an island then look no further. Staff are great and the breakfast is fantastic. Excellent free Wifi connection. We would definitely return on our next visit.

A lovely oasis in a busy city, with your own beach, parks to walk around in. The prison cell I shared (hostel 4 women room) with 3 others was surprisingly warm and the whole place was so clean and quiet! The breakfast kept me going till well after lunchtime! Fair walk into the centre of Stockholm but ferries and metro...

Staying in Hornstull & Langholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Hornstull & Langholmen
If you love having a drink by the sea right on the beach (and who doesn’t?) Hornstull & Långholmen should be on top of your list. The area was recently redeveloped and now not only offers artsy bars and edgy restaurants but also a post-modern shopping mall complex for urban retail therapy. Hornstull belongs to the more established and sophisticated neighborhoods in Stockholm and is the typical place where you’ll find Swedish dads meeting for a latte during their paternal leave, or where local office workers meet up at the art cinema for a drink or a movie after work. The beaches in Hornstull and Långholmen are popular destinations for barbeques and sunbathing during the summer. Bring sunscreen.
