Norrmalm
Norrmalm is Stockholm’s most central and busiest neighborhood. It’s home to the main shopping street, Drottninggatan, and to Stockholm icons like the Sergels Torg glass obelisk, the famous Hay Market with its Carl Milles sculptures, and the Hötorget Skyscrapers, a sight on every other Stockholm postcard. Norrmalm is also home to Sweden’s most traditional department stores Nordiska Kompaniet and Åhléns City juxtaposed with Stockholm’s most modern shopping mall, Mood Stockholm. Visitors to this area get to experience the unique Swedish philosophy of protecting cultural heritage while also staying on top of fashion innovation and modern architecture.

First of all, the hotel is rated as a 4-star-hotel at Hotels.com. The receptionist informed us that it is a 3-star-hotel when we arrived. It bears the mark of that. When we arrived, the receptionist seemed somehow grouchy and cranky. Perhaps it was a policy at the hotel, but none of the receptionists greeted us when we were down at the reception. They all stared intensively at their computer screen every time. The room itself was okay, but it was on the first floor with windows looking into garbage containers. We were given another room, this one looking into the yard/outside hanging spot, which was a bit uncomfortable because everyone using the space could see right into the room. Also, do keep in mind that renovations are taking place, so you have to walk through the renovation areas in order to get to your hotel room. The room itself is nice enough. We ordered a superior room, but it was not worth the extra cost. Few furnitures and very little, murky lightning. The location itself is fantastic and very central! If you are planning to use the subway a lot or shop in the main shopping street, the hotel is very much ideal. The breakfast is also very good, but the staff are impatient. When the clock was approaching 10(the end time for breakfast), one of the staff members sighed loudly and looked at at her watch when we went for another cup of coffee. All in all, an OK hotel with a very central location, but a bit pricey considering the standard.

A hotel I would describe as good enough but not so much more. They gave me a room on the first floor with windows looking in to the yard/outside hanging spot. A bit uncomfortable that everyone using that space can see right in to the room. I would recommend to try to get moved up atleast one floor. The light bulb was broken in the hallway when I arrived so I asked to get that fixed. Everything is clean and fresh though and they have a lot of places for big friendgroups to sit around and chat. Keep in mind they are doing repairs, don't know when they will be done. The location is really good because you have the central station basically across the streat. Great if you're planning to use the subway a lot. Drottninggatan is just around the corner and if you're up for a walk you're in the old town in like 20 minutes.

I booked a double room for three nights which should have had either twin beds or one queen sized bed. Instead I was given a single room with a single bed. When I mentioned this to reception, they apologised and said that on my printed booking confirmation it did say double room but for some reason it said I booked a single room on their system. I don't think the receptionist properly looked at my print out as it was on the second page and she only looked at the first. She was very cold, patronising, clearly stressed. I asked if I could be transferred into a double room. She said she knows there are no double rooms available. She said sorry for the inconvenience but at least you have a room with a renovated bathroom... She didn't offer a refund, until I requested one. She said she will speak to her manager. When I returned to my room, I was called by the receptionist and confirmed I would be getting a refund of 800SEK for three nights for staying in a single room. There was no information about breakfast or restaurant times, how to use the safe, or call reception in the room. So I had to keep going down to speak to the receptionist about my room. When I asked for the number for reception, she either gave me the wrong digit or the phone wasn't working but they quickly sent out an engineer to fixed the phone. Also, my room was cold and had no thermostat. There was mould in my kettle (which was replaced when I left a note for the cleaner) and one light didn't work so it was a dark room. The bathroom was nice, just a shower not bathtub. They provided shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, cotton buds and pads, ear plugs. It was a modern looking room but the plug socket and light switches were in very inconvenient places. There were no plugs near the bed or in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. The walls are thin and there was a lot of construction work in the area so it was quite noisy. Breakfast was good. No dairy alternative milk, but there was a good selection of meat and fish. As a vegan, there wasn't a lot of choice but had baked beans, two vegan cheeses, bread and jam which was very nice. I think there best part of staying in this hotel is the location. It's very close to central station, shops and attractions with excellent transport links. I won't stay here again. I know I can find other hotels in the vicinity of central station that probably offer a more comfortable stay and provide the right bedroom.
