Centrally located, but not too busy, the area is wonderful. The room was beautifully appointed. Well designed. Kartell furniture, etc. Can I also say a massive THANKYOU to you all for your help you gave me when I got covid and had to stay longer. It was terrific, in terms of your care and attention. Lux room, great care from the staff, nothing was off about this stay. Amazing team!
Not a five-star hotel, but reasonably priced, very comfortable, well located and met our needs. Great selection at the breakfast buffet, which was included in the price of the room. The gentlemen who checked us in (early, thank you!) had a great sense of humor.
Review title reflects what you can expect in the way of customer service, comfort and room facilities. Baffled by positive reviews and agree with the person who said this is more like a 2 star establishment! Very slow check in - all guests in the queue in front of us had their rooms ready for them and of course ours wasn't. OK, their official check-in time is 3pm, but it was already the afternoon so not unreasonably early to hope one room in our room tier was ready. Reception staff said our room wasn't ready because we were in a superior room - not sure what that has to do with anything? We had been awake and travelling since 2am but no understanding/empathy from staff and not even a vague offer to at least try to get the room ready a little earlier. Whole hotel feels old and shabby. Mismatched and faded carpets in the hallway, not even fitted down properly at the joins and a trip hazard. Finally got into the room which was the size of a postage stamp (misleading wide angle pics online) and the air con didn't work. Reception staff again did not care and said 'it's an old hotel so the air con doesn't really work'. Not an acceptable excuse. We moved room and that one at least had an old desk fan, but trying to sleep in 24 degree heat was uncomfortable. Very poor lighting in the room which makes it hard to do make up. Hairdryer kept overheating and cutting out every 5 mins so no good if your hair is longer than a pixie cut. Bed looks like a a camp bed and the 'mattress' was a bag of springs. Squeaky and uncomfortable. Woken up EVERY SINGLE MORNING (we stayed 4 nights!) at 5am by lorries collecting/delivering laundry, ice cream, and whatever else etc. Even on a bank holiday! Everything decor-wise looked like it had been done very cheaply (think Premier Inn - though actually I've had a better stay in a Premier Inn for 1/5th the price of this place!). Cheap furniture, awful bed as discussed, one tea bag and one creamer each not replaced by cleaning staff in a 4 night stay. Only one towel each. A towel was provided for the floor when stepping out of the shower but the cleaner inexplicably took it away on day 2 and considering the shower floods the room, that was a real pain. Rude staff - both reception staff and cleaners you pass in the halls never acknowledge you or say hello. The only good thing about this place is the breakfast. The dining room was very busy and chaotic every day but there was a very wide variety of hot and cold items available, including veggie and vegan options, and all really tasty. Plenty of it and always kept replenished. Chef very kindly cooked us some veggie sausages to order which was much appreciated. However the excellent breakfast was not enough to counterbalance the poor service, shabby hotel and tiny, poorly-equipped rooms. Having paid nearly £700 we felt pretty ripped off to be honest! One of the poorest hotels we have stayed in across the whole of Europe. I would not stay here again if you paid me, and cannot not recommend it to others.…
Stayed for 3 nights. Room had a decent size and was clean, equipped with everything you need. Bathroom was small and could be upgraded, had a weird drainage system. Wifi worked well. Staff were friendly at all times and allowed me to check in before 3 PM. Breakfast was also very good. The hotel is located on a quiet street and a 15 minute walk to the city center, metro and buses stop very close as well
Localization of the hotel is amazing. You can reach city centre in less than 10 minute walk. All atractions are close so you don't have to use public transport. Rooms are small but cozy. Breakfasts are simply amaizng, all is delicious. The staff is nice and helpful. This is perfect choice for both, short and long stay. I'll be back for sure.
The staff on reception are exceptionally helpful and friendly. It was a very efficient check-in. The room is clean wirth an iron and kettle and fridge along with a TV showing some international channels. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is quite small but sufficient. The breakfast has a wide range of hot and cold food and certainly prepares you for the day. The one complaint is that the room was quite cold however when I raised this with reception the receptionist immediately gave me the heater that he was using which solved the problem. He really is an asset to the hotel. The hotel is about 7 minutes walks to the nearest T bhan which in turn is only 2 stops to the central station . Would definitely recommend.
We keep coming back to Birger Jarl for it's great location (no need for a underground ticket, you can basically walk anywhere you are going), friendly staff, delicous breakfeast and nice and clean rooms. Our to-go-to hotel in Stockholm!
So nice staff, we felt so welcome. No trouble to get help and allways a friendly smile. We had a superior room and it was comfortable, perfect for a weekend visit. Fresh and cleen. Plastic over the TV control, gloves and handsanatiser to use for the guests at the breakfastbuffe, signs for social distance. And walking distance shops, restaurant and subways/busses. Me and my son really enjoyed our visit. 🏅
Rooms are very pleasant. Staff always helpful professional and friendly. Very good location for walking into Stockholm Transport system excellent. Very clean hotel. Bar at the hotel very nice and busy. Breakfast all you need to start your day. The hotel is always very busy and we use it all the time when in Stockholm visiting our son and family. Highly recommended.
Stayed here for 5 days during a citytrip, very friendly personnelle, nice breakfast, excellent beds, located in a less touristic neighbourhood which gives a warm feeling. Definitely a recommended place to stay.
