Hotel Diplomat garners praise for its attentive service, although a handful of guests have encountered inconsistencies. Its prime location near major attractions and beautiful views, alongside the hotel's cleanliness, are consistently lauded by guests. The elegant atmosphere and tastefully furnished rooms contribute to its charm, which many find to be of good value, especially with the inclusion of a satisfying breakfast. However, travelers should be mindful of room size and varying temperatures on upper floors.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Diplomat, it's an excellent hotel in a perfect location for easy walking to most of the main attractions and shopping and also for catching the Stromma boats out to Artipelag and Drottningholm etc.
I would definitely recommend buying Go City passes for your stay in Stockholm, great value and allow entry to many of the main attractions in this beautiful city.

Hotel Diplomat is one of those classics which has been around for ages, it is a landmark, always has and always will be. Known for their Afternoon Tea since more than 50 years this gem could have been lost to future generations if it would not have been for a forward thinking owner. This stocky conservative landmark got a makeover and entered the 21 st century in grace and guess what? We stayed there for 24 hours and had a splendid time: Check in gave us and idea as we were met with all smiles and this good honest service that somehow makes you feel very special. Room, sheets and bathroom were all top-notch and just after checking in, resting in our room there was a knock on the door and a gentleman handed over a small, nicely wrapped candy-bag with a note letting us know that they were there in case we need anything. Professionals!!! The Spa was really nice with a big sauna, marble bench that was heated and a very nice shower. Perfect place to relax in private before going out to dinner. Breakfast? Oh yes, exquisite is one word. Super nice staff all over with smiles to spare. This is not a five star luxury hotel like The Grand Hotel some five minutes walk away. But, this hotel offers you more than that- World Class Service with a warm smile and as it felt right then, this is the best hotel in Stockholm right now.

An old classic luxury hotel which keeps the atmosphere, charm and vibe of historic times without feeling dated.
We had booked a deluxe sea view room and got upgraded to a corner junior suite with an amazing view over Nybroviken and the city. The room was extremely spacious and had this air of history in the walls, from furniture to the crystal chandelier as the centerpiece of the roof. Lovely bed and linen, which made us wake up all ready for a full new day in Stockholm.
Due to the covid situation the breakfast was somewhat limited, but everything available was just great.
Our package included 1 private hour in the hotel's retreat, a highly recommended experience to good to miss. The retreat has a nice big shower, hammam and sauna - it's also possible to add different treatments to the experience.
Extremely nice, helpful and friendly staff who makes sure your visit will be the best possible.
The hotel has a very popular and nice outside restaurant/bar during summer and the location is fantastic with all shopping, restaurants and entertainment just around the corner.
We will definitely stay at Diplomat again!

There were several “bests” about our stay at the Diplomat. First the people, Andreas, Maria, Aneta, Alyssa and others made our stay outstanding. From organizing the best table at TAK for New Years, recommending outstanding restaurants (even from desperate and last minute calls from the street) to arranging an emergency massage for a pained family member.
Christopher even opened the Butiken at 6:30am to get us breakfast for the car ride to the airport.

The second reason is the beautiful, charming, comfortable surroundings. We were 8 people from London and the States in 4 rooms for Christmas and New Years, a total of 12 days. We all together and separately felt we were in our own homes. At all hours of day or night we were spoilt for choice as to where we could sit and relax. The hotel is the ideal size to make it feel cozy for everyone but with enough buzz to make you feel you are at the right place.

Additionally, the furnishings are gorgeous, done in such good taste, and still very zen and peaceful.

Having the choice to have breakfast or lunch in the restaurant for a full buffet or alternatively the chic boutique cafe, Butiken, is ideal. Butiken offered many delicious choices to meet all food intolerances. If you just wanted a quick oat latte and berries for breakfast its the place for you.

Of course, the location in Stockholm is perfect. We all agreed it is our favourite hotel and will return very soon.

We stayed one night to celebrate my wife’s birthday and how lovely our stay was.
Without underestimation Hotel Diplomat is one top hotels in Stockholm, the service is magnificent, and all personnel was very kind, constantly on toe to fully pamper and take care of us at every need that came up during our stay.

We stayed in a Delux Sea view room and it was very nice, all from the classic interior to bathroom and the window view over Nybroviken. Absolutely fabulous!
We had salad for lunch in the restaurant and likewise here- food and the service holds top level.
I warmly recommend just lunch in the restaurant if you are not staying in the hotel.

Breakfast was also very nice, great service and food with highly elevated flavors in a very relaxed and peaceful environment. What a good morning to wake up too!

I have seen and stayed in a fair share of hotels during my traveling in my profession the last 16 years and on vacation purposes in multiple countries globally and I must admit- I have hotel Diplomat very high on my list of best ever hotel experiences! I might go back sometime, but since I live in Stockholm the occasions of hometown hotels stays are limited, so let’s see about that when I find a good cause!

I warmly recommend Hotel Diplomat if you are seeking for that little extra all in your hotel stay.

Good location. We got an upgrade for a sea view room with off course was nice although the traffic during the night was surprisingly noisy. If you like to sleep with an open window during night I would recommend choosing another room type. Poor reading light in bed and not very comfortable bed.

A bit boring breakfast alternatives. For example regular oatmeal porridge just served with some banana and pomegranate seeds. In a fancy place like this I would expect the porridge to be fancy as well. Very attentive breakfast staff.

Very small gym with an extremely low ceiling.

Overall nice ambience of the place and friendly staff.

We stayed as a group but I don’t think I saw a single smile from any member of staff for a whole week, except from Anya in the breakfast room.

Room small and no turndown service, despite advertising, forgetful or haphazard cleaning of bathroom, even when specially requested, sheets were left dirty for three days with no explanatory note of any kind. No coffee machine even when other members of the group in identical rooms had been provided with one, reception desk poorly manned and often no-one available. All this is unforgivable in a hotel which purports to be of the highest standard

Location is good, food acceptable, but service at all times (restaurant and reception) was perfunctory, not personal and not friendly. Food tables in the library left uncleared for over an hour and then only done partially.

If only for a few nights as a mini vacation we had the most relaxing and comfortable stay at this very friendly, relaxed and extremely well located Hotel. Right in the city Center of Stockholm with a beautiful view over water and amazing buildings. ( make sure to get a room facing the street/ water) From the minute we checked in we had a great time and hardly had to or even wanted to leave the hotel. Breakfast is small but contains all the ingredients that you’d ever want. Restaurant ambiance is great with a lounge feeling. Soft music and well made classic food. Our room was spacious and quiet even if in a semi busy city. Service is friendly and room service fast. Well done to the staff for making us and everyone else feel safe during these Corona times. All staff keeping a safe distance without loosing attentiveness and making the experience stiff. Very impressive stay.

This has been my favorite Stockholm hotel for 10 years so it is a pity I cannot come back to the wonderful view and beautiful lobby (that are still there and merit the extra star above 1). But otherwise the last stay was a disaster, probably because the hotel is dramatically understaffed. Examples out of 4 days. Waiting time for something to eat arriving at breakfast was between 20 and 60 minutes, when picking room service instead the message was we have too many orders can’t deliver. In the bar long wait for drinks, no snacks even after asking twice. Impossible to pay the bill at the bar one day. Reception long waits as either no one or only one person working there. Room not made at 3pm twice in four days. And all employees stressed and not smiling. Really sad.

You cannot find a better location for central Stockholm. Surrounding area is gorgeous. Walking distance to all the must see sights, plenty of Restaurants and night life in the area and also 10 minute walk to the bridge crossing over to lovely Djurgården Park, which has additional museums such as Wasa.
Service is 5 star. All staff are highly trained and clearly the Hotel Director is running a tight ship. Breakfast is top notch. Not excessive choice, but all you need made of quality produce. The views are superb. Hotel Guests mix with well heeled locals - the hotel is located on the most prestigious street in Sweden. Yet, the place has a pretty relaxed vibe.
Rooms are of high standard with refurbished bathrooms. Style in rooms is more grand & classic rather than modern and trendy.
We always stay here during our visits to Stockholm.
