The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming Old Town. The fact is that the hotel is a tourist attraction in itself. It contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel's founder Gunnar Bengtsson. There are three restaurants and two bars in the hotel; Djuret (The Whole Beast), Flickan, La Ragazza and The Burgundy and The Comfortable Bar Tweed. The breakfast has a selection of cold cuts and hot items and is served in the downstairs dining room, which also has the remnants of a defence tower from the medival city wall on display. The hotel serves complimentary coffe and tea to all their guests and to unwind you can use the Sauna and Relax area exclusively, and free of charge.

This is a lovely quirky hotel in the Old Town . The rooms are reasonably sized and there are tea/coffee stations on each level . The staff were very helpful and its a great base to explore Stockholm .

We stayed for 2 nights and loved this hotel. There are interesting artefacts and antiques in the corridors and stairways, it is quite unique. Room does not have a fridge. Has a coffee machine and there is tea and coffee with kettle on the landing to help yourself ( no English breakfast tea though). The bed was very comfortable. There is a hairdryer, good toiletries including body lotion and hair conditioner. There was a welcome drink, a glass of port in the room. Breakfast was very good although not a full English, but lots of other options with pancakes and good breads and pastries. Also scrambled or boiled eggs and bacon and meatballs. Cheese and meats too. The staff were lovely, especially Tuva who helped us print off our boarding passes for departure. Could not have been more helpful. They also gave us good recommendations for restaurants. Hotel is in a good position. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

I read all of the reviews and was expecting an " experience hotel" unfortunately didnt enjoy it. Stayed in the 1 bedroom apartment for 5 nights, cancelled (because i could) 2 nights. The apartment is not in the main hotel so no lift. Although it has separate kitchen, bedroom and living area all rooms were small and most importantly dirty, dishwasher looked like it had mould in it. No coffee provided had to ask for this. Daily service not provided and no air con. Drapes in room didn't block out the lights so very light during the night (alcohol helps for sleeping). Best thing is the washing machine!!. For the same price (or less) you can book the Sheraton which I would recommend over the Admiral Hotel.

Hi Rhonda, thank you for your honest review! First, I would like to mention that our apartments are not included in our hotel business as such. When making a reservation through a third party, Victory Hotel and Victory Apartments should be shown as separate alternatives. If this was not the case for you, please let us know where you made your reservation. Most of our apartments are indeed in a building next to the hotel, one floor up by stairs. Our apartments only include departure cleaning for shorter stays (a week or less) and no air conditioning, whereas our hotel rooms include daily cleaning and air conditioning. The apartment you booked is 40 sqm, which by no means is particularly large but offers more space than a hotel room. Since your review we have started to include coffee, tea and bottled water in our starting package with necessities for our apartments, although refills are not included in the rate. If you are ever back in Stockholm, please give us another try and stay in one of our hotel rooms for the experience you expected!

Filled with antiques, the Victory Hotel is like staying in a museum. The rooms are large and cute and the location can't be beat: near all the Gamla Stan sights (and underground station), yet on a quiet street away from the noise of tourists. Here's why I must subtract a star: when checking in for our 4-night stay, my wife and I were given the surprise news that our junior suite (room 306) was accidentally double-booked that night. So we were downgraded to a deluxe room (room 407). This "downgrade" was actually a really nice room! Quite large and cozy. But because staff couldn't confirm whether room 306 would be available for the following nights, we had to live out of our suitcases, wondering about our future. We were refunded the balance (about $70) for that first night, and the next day we did get to move into room 306. (Although it had an additional room, it was not any more special than room 407. We actually liked 407 better!) But this meant we were room-less for three hours, having to "check out" at noon and leaving our bags at the front desk. The hotel should have let us stay in room 407 until room 306 was ready. As it was, room 306 hadn't been thoroughly cleaned when we moved in. Staff were mildly apologetic about the situation, but did not offer us anything for our inconvenience. Well, this is no-nonsense Sweden, and my wife and I are not demanding people, so no biggie. But fresh bottles of water or additional welcome cocktail would have been a nice gesture when we finally moved into the room we had booked.

We were in hurry to arrange our 25 days Europe trip, we were not having enough time to read and look for the details so we book this hotel for 3 nights as it was one of few choices within our budget in the old town. It was love from first sight, from the time we entered the reception we fall in love with this hotel. This hotel has a very interesting theme, unique antiques, very good location and very welcoming friendly staff. Our room was beautiful with lovely decorations, comfortable bed, flat screen TV and a decent free wifi. The bathroom was wild bright and very clean. The only thing we were missing was the mini fridge and the kettle or coffee machine. The breakfast buffet was very good and like the rest of the hotel the restaurant had unique decorations. All reception, house keeping and restaurant staff were very friendly.

We stayed in a lovely suite (Captain Petterson), which as a room was as described. Nice sitting room, fabulous bathroom, and a bed that was so comfortable that I’d love to have bought it and shipped it home! The hotel is fabulously located - close to everything, but wonderfully quiet. Inside, it is full of character, including a world of sailing related antiquities. The whole hotel is either (a) intimate and quaint; or (b) a little gloomy and oppressive - depends on your point of view, and mood. The dining room, in which breakfast is served, is below ground and I found it dark and not a place I wanted to spend time - although it’s choc full of character. The breakfast staff had either been briefed to be mute, or were very miserable - lacking any discernible humanity or personality. Breakfast was fine, but we had much better in Sweden. House-keeping was a bit hit and miss - missing out on points of detail that made a difference - such as topping up coffee, and replacing coffee cups.

Thank you for your kind and honest review, Ed! We're happy you enjoyed the room and the bed in particular. We appreciate your comments about the breakfast and housekeeping, we will look into what happened and how we can improve this. If you have any specifics regarding the breakfast and what you felt could be done better, we'd love it if you let us know. I can understand how you felt about the breakfast room, just like you mentioned previously, that room can also be viewed as either intimate or a bit gloomy. If you'd ever come back to Stockholm and would like to stay with us again, you would be able to take your breakfast upstairs and sit by the window in the bar/lounge behind the front desk. Wishing you a lovely summer!

My grandson and I stayed three nights. It was a real treat. The location, the ambiance, the staff, the astonishingly presented and prepared breakfast set in beautiful Stockholm gave us memories for a lifetime. Hilko, Albin and Ronja in reception deserve recognition for their warmth and professionalism. If I should be lucky enough to return to Stockholm, I would absolutely want to stay at Victory Hotel again.

The previous excellent reviews are spot on. The Victory hotel is the most charming, cute hotel I've stayed in a long time. From the staff, the decor, the location, all was PERFECT. I only stayed one night and had a single room but wish I could have stayed longer. Things I really loved: The Decor: even with an "antique look" the hotel had all modern amenities. FAST WIFI: a big number 1 in my book! FRIENDLY, HELPFUL STAFF: they were super helpful in area suggestions and arranged a taxi for the following morning. Two USB ports near the bed and one at the desk. Complimentary port and chocolates at night. Yummm. Heated towel rack and robe in bathroom. Swanky shampoo, conditioner, body lotion. Do yourself a favor and get the breakfast: everything under the sun including meatballs, smoked salmon and herring! My sister and her family stayed at the nearby Sheraton and said her amenities were crappy compared to mine.

It was in a great location for us attending a Wannadies gig at Debaser. A nice walk from Central Station with our very light luggage. . Exceptional staff and a lovely surprise on entering the room. Will definitely stay here again when visiting Stockholm even if the staff are too young to remember The Wannadies.

Had a lovely three night stay here and couldn't fault it. The location in Gamla Stan was perfect, ideally situated for exploring this beautiful city. The rooms were immaculate, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. There was even a complimentary glass of port and a chocolate on arrival. It was such a difference from the standard corporate hotel experience and it's clear that the people who run it really care. For 100 kroner you can have the whole sauna to yourself for an hour and a half and it was a very relaxing experience. The breakfast had everything you could wish for and the nautical exhibits are fascinating. I loved Stockholm and the hotel experience was the icing on the cake. Thank you so much for making my weekend so enjoyable!
