The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s charming Old Town. The fact is that the hotel is a tourist attraction in itself. It contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel's founder Gunnar Bengtsson. There are three restaurants and two bars in the hotel; Djuret (The Whole Beast), Flickan, La Ragazza and The Burgundy and The Comfortable Bar Tweed. The breakfast has a selection of cold cuts and hot items and is served in the downstairs dining room, which also has the remnants of a defence tower from the medival city wall on display. The hotel serves complimentary coffe and tea to all their guests and to unwind you can use the Sauna and Relax area exclusively, and free of charge.

A very charming hotel. An interesting bar and a superb restaurant. Staff was most accommodating. A nice change of pace from those hotels always trying to compete in being most trendy. Breakfast, as expected, offered everything, including secluded and protected gluten free offerings .

The Victory Hotel is in a good location and is a comfortable hotel. The breakfast was plentiful with many choices and had options for gluten free diets. But, what was best about the hotel was their thoughtful and caring staff. So thank you to Selma (who spent sometime helping me navigate the Swedish train app and buy tickets), Dorothy, and Mary in the breakfast room. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and considerate. This was much appreciated.

At first I thought the decor was weird, but then I learned that the hotel was established to house the family's antique collection. The room was nice. The staff were very friendly, but the hotel was very understaffed in July.

Dear Ronald, Thank you for your lovely review! We understand the decor can be quite surprising if you don't have previous knowledge of the theme, indeed. We're happy you enjoyed your stay with us, although it is a pity your experience was that we were understaffed. We would like to hear more about this: was limited to specific times/locations (eg. the front desk around 3 PM, during breakfast) or more of a general observation? If you would like to provide us with more details, you are welcome to reach out to us on reservations@collectorshotels.se, so we are able to improve our services moving forward. Wishing you a great day!

A very quirky hotel with loads and loads of character in the heart of Gamla Stan. Whilst on the door step of the old town with its beautiful houses, cobbled streets and large selection of restaurants and adjacent a busy road (2 streets away) it is very quiet. It’s an old hotel with very solid walls so there is no inter room noise - some overhead noise from a particularly heavy footed guest in the room above but nothing of significance. No coffee or tea making facilities in the room but a station on every floor offering a communal type facility. Air conditioning was poor and ours didn’t really work - receptionists were very friendly and offered a fan but didn’t really make any effort to resolve the issue during our stay. The fan was adequate but the air con should work. Breakfast is taken downstairs in a very dark room (atmospheric if you like that but gloomy if you don't). Didn’t have the hot options but the continental selection was good from a cereal, rolls meats, cheese and pastry perspective but poor from a bread selection which was limited and not fresh.

Hi Mike, Thank you for your lovely review! We're so happy you found our location to be ideal and still quiet. As Sweden has traditionally not needed any air conditioning, the AC is not very powerful and is able to cool the room 5 degrees Celsius/9 degrees Fahrenheit from the outside temperature. On warm or hot days, this means we sometimes have to rely on fans to help just that extra bit. Since your review, however, we've had our dedicated AC technician come by and check the system. The breakfast room is indeed below ground and the setting is very dependant on personal characteristics. We should always have a few hot options, such as scrambled eggs, bacon, meatballs and Swedish oatmeal or pancakes. Our bread is baked and delivered daily and should therefore always be fresh. If our selection did not have the usual offerings and standard, I apologize! We hope you'll be looking back on your Stockholm stay with fond memories. Wishing you all the best!

This hotel is in the heart of Gamla Stan which is a perfect launching point to walk around and see the key sites, experience numerous bars/restaurants and shopping. We wanted a quaint and historical hotel and this hotel met that requirement. So for location I would give it a 5. The hotel staff was great and attentive at the front desk. However, there were also some negatives in our opinion. 1. It’s dark, it’s very dark. I guess it was the period of time in which it was built. The decor, the feel is dark. Our room lighting was poor as well. 2. When we first got there the safe was locked in the open position so we had to call the desk to have someone come up and reset it. They did that quickly and with a smile. 3. The room was very warm (the highs were around 68 when we were there). They do have A/C but it ran on high the entire time we were there and only dropped the temperature by one degree. 4. One of the bath room sinks had a broken stopper so the sink would fill up with water. We called the desk and again she came up immediately and realized it was broken so just pulled it out and said she should have maintenance repair it. The next day after we came back to the room, the stopper was still broken in that sink but it was clear maintenance had worked on the wrong sink. 5. The internet was very slow and often would drop and reconnect. They really need to fix this problem. 6. It was very difficult to get into and out of the bath/shower. It’s high up, the tub floor is slick and there are no handrails. We are both very active at our age and play sports but it was quite the challenge to get into and out of the shower without slipping. So overall, location was great, the room was so-so for the value. We would love to return to this beautiful city but would pick a different hotel next time.

We had a very nice room, with the most comfortable couch you can imagine. Overall, the room was very quiet; we never heard any other guests in the hallway. The bathroom was a good size, and the hotel is in an excellent location. The staff could not do enough to help, including quickly answering questions prior to our arrival. There were a few minor issues. For example, they have the thinnest towels, barely one step above a Holiday Inn Express. The breakfast room, while lovely, was fine; however, the area where you get your food was tiny, which means you have to fight your way through others for your food. The curtains in the sleeping area of our room did not block the light and they were falling off the rail. Finally, housekeeping did not clean out trash bins and forgot to replace a glass in the bathroom. If it were not for the above very minor inconveniences, this hotel would have rated a "5". But when you them all up it becomes apparent that attention to detail is not happening here.

I gave this hotel 5 stars based on the typeof hotel it is—a funky boutique hotel in a great location. For terms of amenities, it’s not really a 5. It was ideal for us. It was easy to walk Stamla Gran and see the sights there. We walked a few steps to the corner and caught an Uber or Bolt to the Vasa Museum and other sights. We walked under 1 mile to the harbor for a scenic cruise. There were good places for food steps away. The bed was relatively comfortable. The shower had good hot water and pressure in a small enclosed shower— that did leak some water on the floor because the doors did not fit closed exactly, but not a big mess. There was no outlet in the bathroom, so I used one by the bed for the hairdryer. There were enough outlets to charge our devices and 2 chairs. The decorations around the hotel are very interesting. The staff at the front desk varied. The young man working nights was very friendly. You have to drop your key when you leave the groom and sometimes there were a few minutes wait to retrieve it if the attendant was on the phone. There was one long wait while the female attendant was on a long call. She never even looked up to acknowledge us… a small wave to let us know she knew we were waiting would be a nice gesture. We understand. We were first put in a room on floor one. We could hear conversations right outside our window and were surprised to look out the window and find a table and chair right against our wall at eye level —there is a cafe outside in the courtyard. We asked to be moved and were given another Captain’s room on floor 3 that was a bit smaller, and although it was also over the cafe, was very quiet. Unlike a few reviewers, we liked the breakfast room! It wasn’t the best breakfast we had in the Baltics and Scandinavia, but quite good for a small hotel and attractively arranged with ample seating. There were a few warm items besides the usual cold meats and cheeses. A couple of sweet breads and plenty of good loaves to slice. Juices and some fresh fruit. A nice selection of cereals and yogurt. Breakfasts did not start until 8 am on some days, including the holiday we were there. But there was coffee and tea stations on each floor. We had the hotel book a taxi for us to the train station which took just minutes.

The hotel is in a great location in Galma Stan. However, the room i was given overlooked the inner courtyard and restaurant, which was loud. There was some sort of celebration/party that made last night extra loud and annoying if trying to sleep. (Stopped around 12:30). The celings are creaky, the room above mine stomped. Breakfast was okay - eggs need improvement. Other hotels offer afternoon Fika with cake for free. Not this hotel.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful with whatever we needed. The location was wonderful for walking around Gamla Stan. We really appreciated the chocolate and port left in the room, it was such a nice touch. Breakfast was nice, I do have 2 suggestions for breakfast 1) the scrambled eggs were incredibly watery so much so that they were almost inedible and 2) the only butter option was a vegan option when I asked the staff she said that was all they had. So a true butter option would be nice. Otherwise everything was amazing, we loved our room with the double clawfoot tubs. I would love to return one day and stay here again.

The Victory is a quirky and charming, and made for those who love a boutique hotel. We loved our spacious Captain’s room with extra big bed and seating area - it was relaxing and comfortable to return ‘home’ to it each evening after a day of tramping through the snow and ice! The staff were helpful and friendly and it’s super close to some fantastic restaurants (we had four superb dinners at different restaurants no more than 5 minutes walk away). We also appreciated the time (1.5hours) spent in the sauna for a very reasonable price - the sauna area includes shower, toilet, cold plunge pool and a lounge area with a fireplace where the staff were happy to deliver us a couple of beers. Breakfast was a little underwhelming, but shouldn’t put you off a fantastic and comfortable place to stay. A tip: the staff can order a fixed price taxi transfer to the airport for you - we found that out too late after already buying airport train tickets from the Tourist office. The fixed price cab would actually have been cheaper than the cab to the train station and then train to the airport!

Hi Sharona, We're so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and spent some time in our sauna as well. It's great you made use of the plethora of restaurants located nearby and found some gems to add to your Stockholm experience. We're sorry you found the breakfast to be underwhelming, if there was anything in particular you found to be lacking we would appreciate it if you can reach out to us - we're always looking to improve ourselves. Thank you for sharing your experience including the taxi tip (our front desk has a wealth of knowledge and would be happy to answer any question you may have), and you're always welcome back 'home'!
