Our 3 night stay at the Hotel Skeppsholmen was a delightful stay. The property has a unique location, being located on an island in the heart of Stockholm. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, status was recognized, check-in was prompt, and an upgrade was provided to a larger room.
The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. A small welcome gift was left in the room as well. Daily housekeeping was offered seamlessly and everyone we interacted with was polite and courteous. Parking was conveniently available behind the hotel, with EV chargers available (although take note that the charger will automatically charge for parking, even if you've already paid for a parking pass from reception).
The only negative point of our stay was that breakfast was not included since we were staying on a Marriott Bonvoy points redemption. When breakfast is included on the other cash rates and rates available via OTAs, it seems a bit cheap of the property to exclude breakfast from point stays. This is the single point that holds me back from returning to this property again, or recommending it to others.
Otherwise, a wonderful stay in Stockholm.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. I am thrilled to read that you enjoyed everything from our stunning location, our rooms to the service from my team. Rest assured my colleagues has read your review. It’s correct that when Bonvoy members are using pints for free nights, breakfast is not inclusive. We are part of Bonvoy via Design Hotels and Design Hotels and some other brands under the Marriott “ umbrella “ have this agreement. But we offer a discounted rate for breakfast for our Bonvoy guests when using points. I am glad to read that you enjoyed the complimentary upgrade and the welcome gift. Thank you for staying with us and I hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you back next time you visit Stockholm. Best, Joachim Managing Director

In a city as vibrant and fascinating as Stockholm, finding an oasis of peace without straying too far from the main attractions can seem like a difficult task. Yet, Hotel Skeppsholmen has managed to offer just that.
Located on a quiet island in Stockholm, this hotel guarantees a serene and secluded atmosphere. But don't be fooled by its peaceful location; the city's main attractions are easily reachable with a short walk or a quick ferry ride.
What makes Hotel Skeppsholmen particularly unique is its history and architecture. The building, originally a military barracks, has been completely renovated and transformed into a modern and refined hotel. Being a smaller structure, the hotel does not suffer from the frenzy and confusion that often characterizes larger structures.
Every detail in the rooms has been carefully taken care of: they are spacious, clean and tastefully furnished. But what really elevated our experience was the staff: extremely kind, professional and always ready to satisfy our needs.
Breakfast, then, was the icing on the cake. Varied and tasty, it offered a perfect start to the day.

Just returned from an anniversary trip to Stockholm and a stay at the Hotel Skeppsholmen. As a platinum Marriott member, I focused on hotels within their portfolio for our visit, and was originally booked at the Miss Clara and AC Ulriksdal. However, I kept coming back to reviews online for the Hotel Skeppsholmen that described the property as exactly what we were looking for-- quiet, away from the hustle and crowds, yet close to everything in beautiful surroundings inside the property and grounds.
Our arrival via bus #65 was an easy way to get to the hotel. (The bus stop was across from the train station after exiting the Arlanda Express from the airport and it went directly to the hotel, which is so helpful after a long overnight transatlantic flight and layover). The front desk staff was friendly and quickly got us checked into our upgraded junior suite (a very happy and appreciated surprise!) and offered umbrellas for a rainy day.
The junior suite on the top floor of the second building was spacious and spotlessly clean and provided a perfect cozy space to retreat to after a busy day of exploring the city and surrounding area. As other reviewers have noted, the views of the property are beautiful, the minimalist yet modern decor offered practical storage solutions, and the bathroom was luxurious with the unique Boffi stone sink, large waterfall shower and Byredo Bal d'Afrique toiletries. My husband enjoyed the in-room Nespresso machine.
We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast buffet each morning where there was a wide variety of hot and cold food and beverages offering something for everyone's preferences. Service was quick to turn over tables, replenish the buffet, or offer espresso.
The property is connected to the rest of the city via bus #65 (which stops both in front of the hotel, or at the prior stop behind the hotel) and the adjacent ferry #82 stop which can take you to Slussen as a jumping off point to the city or to the Allmänna Gränd stop where you can visit the island of Djurgården which has many museums (including Vasa) and Gröna Lund amusement park. It's also an easy walk to all of the central sites within Stockholm or additional public transport options.
On all accounts, the Hotel Skeppsholmen is a perfect place for travellers looking for a peaceful home away from home while visiting Stockholm. (If you are looking for a hotel next door to bars, clubs, and the noise of the city, this is not your ideal choice, but for those who are seeking a beautiful setting, comfortable room, and impeccable service, this is the hotel for you!

The hotel is located on the small island of Skeppsholmen, it is very quiet and the rooms are very nicely decorated. The staff at check-in and restaurant are extremely friendly and very attentive. I would definitely stay here again. By boat you are in 5 minutes in Gamla Stan and on foot it is also only about 20 minutes. The breakfast was great and the restaurant in the evening very good We visited a lot in Stockholm and enjoyed the tranquility of the small island Skeppsholmen very much

The hotel was genuinely one of the best we have ever stayed in. Understated but classy. The decor is really lovely, the room had an amazing view over the water (we were on the top floor) and breakfast was delicious and extensive. We also ate in the restaurant and the meatballs were delicious and reasonably priced. Skeppsholmen is a great island, in the centre for everything you need and accessible on foot, by bus and by ferry. All transport stops are close by the hotel. The reception booked us into a restaurant on Riddarholmen which was excellent that they recommended based on what we were looking for. We would love to come back in the summer months.

We were coming to Stockholm and had a Marriott free night certificate available. Last year we had a similar situation and chose the Hotel J, which was lovely, but this time we didn't have a car and thus wanted something more central. Ultimately we selected Hotel Skeppsholmen (even buying a few extra points to make it happen) - and were very happy with our choice!
The location is on the quiet island of Skeppsholmen surrounded by water and beautiful views of Stockholm is simply wonderful, and no other hotel can match it. The building is truly historic, but the interior is beautiful and understated Scandinavian design. Room was very nice and spacious and clean, beds were comfortable. Only the designer bathroom sinks are not the most practical...
Breakfast was a really good Swedish spread - the buffet space perhaps a bit crowded, but the food and the setting making up for it. Great and welcoming service has to be highlighted, especially front desk. We were impressed that our luggage was waiting for us in the room after we had left it at reception in the morning (even many top hotels I've staid just have the guest dump/collect in storage), and that there were personalized welcome papers for us.
PS: While not explicitly noted on the website, the Marriott point-rate room still included free breakfast.

We were upgraded on arrival to a bigger room, with a sea view. The room was lovely and spacious, and the bed really comfortable. The bed was a Swedish double, which is more like two singles in one frame, so we each had our own duvet. There were plenty of spare plug sockets for gadgets, and generous amounts of shower gel, shampoo, body lotion etc. The service was consistently exceptional, as was the food. The location is wonderful, a beautiful 15 minute walk into the city across the island or a short ferry ride to the island of Djurgården. Only downsides, which are both really minor - 1. We had to ask for a kettle, and the cleaners kept removing but not replacing our mugs, so we had to remember to grab clean ones from the dining room. 2. The bathroom door is transparent.

My wife and I chose Skeppsholmen because I had seen it on a list of the top boutique hotels in Stockholm. When we saw where it is located, on what amounts to a private island in the middle of Stockholm, we thought it could be the perfect spot to use as a base for our short 4-day stay in Stockholm. The Hotel Skeppsholmen far exceeded our expectations. We were in Stockholm over the Midsommar holiday, and the hotel had a terrific Midsommar dinner menu in the restaurant. Breakfasts outside on the veranda each morning were quiet and peaceful, with a wide selection of hot dishes, pastries, and coffee. Our room was nicely appointed, with a very comfortable bed, good closet space, and a roomier-than-expected bathroom. Since it was Midsommar, basically daylight all day and night on the days we were there, the blackout shutters did their job in keeping it relatively dark at 'nighttime'. The location, serviced by both a ferry and bus stop right outside of the hotel, meant we never had to wait long for some form of transportation to get us on our way to where we were headed. The ferry stop right at the hotel was particularly convenient. Stockholm isn't a huge city and while we enjoyed taking the ferry, we walked from the hotel to our various destinations a number of times, as well. The bridge that takes one to and from the Skeppsholmen island provides some great photo opportunities of Stockholm scenes as one walks across. Lastly, the staff at the hotel could not have been more accommodating and helpful. The front desk staff were charming, efficient, and quick to provide accurate directions and suggestions, the wait staff in the hotel were friendly and eager to help (our waiter for our Midsommar dinner, who happened to be from the US, did an excellent job despite having just started at the hotel that day), and the housekeeping staff had our room freshened up long before we got back from our day's sightseeing. Truly, we think that the Hotel Skeppsholmen was the reason we enjoyed our Stockholm visit so much. Having such a lovely hotel to start from and return to each day, after many great meals, sights, and day trips around Stockholm and the archipelago, put the perfect finishing touch to each day we were there. We can't say enough good things about Hotel Skeppsholmen and can't thank the staff enough for their hospitality. We plan to return to Stockholm someday and will absolutely stay at the Hotel Skeppsholmen again.

This hotel is in the best location, a small quiet islet just 10 mins walk from central Stockholm. The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. Rooms overlooking the water are a must. The staff are just wonderful, friendly and helpful. We felt so welcomed. They were helpful before we even arrived helping us with restaurant recommendations. We even got a tea tray and kettle on request, a welcome gift, some biscuits and an upgrade to mark the occasion of my birthday…… what a lovely gesture to make me feel special. The breakfast has a fabulous choice of hot and cold foods and drinks. I would highly recommend this hotel and it was nice to return to the peaceful island after a busy day.

We loved our 5 night stay here and want to return. Beautiful rooms and bathrooms, excellent breakfast with a very wide range of delicious foods - loved the raspberry Yoghurt, cinnamon French toast, mushrroms & spinach, cougette & tomato... cheese and meat boards, home-baked breads, and a variety of freshly pressed juices & shots, just to mention a few options. Reception staff were fantastic, cleanliness was excellent, and a beautiful location. So peaceful and yet easily connected to the rest of Stockholm by the bridge- an easy 10 minute walk to central city area, or by the ferry to the Old Town and to the island of Djurgarden where Skansen is a must, Vasa Ship museum and Abba Museum as well as Tivoli theme park are just a very short walk away.
