I stayed here, When John Mayer played at the globe arena in 2014. The location is good, very close to Medborgarplatsen, and walking distance to The Globe. The rooms are clean and cheap. I can recommend staying here, when you are on a budget and on the go!

We arrived late and followed the instructions to sign in, it was very well organised and thoughtfully planned. The kitchen and dining area was beautiful and we always made friends whilst staying there. Free tea, coffee and a few bits of food provided also. All the facilities worked great, the only exception was that we were unaware that we had... More

Skanstulls Hostel offers rooms that can easily compeat with hotel rooms. Those rooms includes two beds and a separate toilet and shower room. The only disadvantage is that the rooms do not have windows, but that did not really bother us for the three nights we were there. Breakfast you have to organize yourself and you can prepare it in... Very beautiful and comfortable. The reception is only open from 8AM to 8PM, but the hostel has a very good system for guests checking in later than that. The collective showers were clean, private, had good pressure and temperature. Beds were super soft and linens were very good, but you have to pay rent if you want to use their... More

We stayed in the standard double with private bathroom. The room was clean and comfortable and most of all, very unusually decorated. We loved it. We didn't really use the shared kitchen but it seemed clean and well organized. There are lots of nice cafes and restaurants around to have delicious breakfast or dinner. The location is really convenient for... More

Everything was nice, friendly stuff, nice kitchen and room. Our room was without windows, but no problem , because several sources of light. Free coffee und noodles in the kitchen. Clean. Good Place to Come back.

This hostel is in a reasonable location, between 20-30 minute walk from Gamla Stan which is a good hub for activity. The showers in the hostel are pretty standard however they were not cleaned in the 2 nights I stayed there which was disappointing as they were covered in long hair to begin with. The room was 'cosy' and the... More

Location of the hostel is good. Staff is very nice and helpful. Price was quite cheap for Stockholm. This has a great potential to be a really wonderful hostel. Rooms and public spaces are individually decorated, quirky but beautiful, great for hipsters and hippies. But unfortunately the spaces are very filthy. This hostel should dismiss the cleaner and hire a... More

(+) This is a relatively big hostel with nearly 30 rooms in a central location. Registration was organised pretty well, with safety boxes for keys in case of late arrivals. The rooms, too, were designed mostly well with lockers in the walls beside each bed. Everything was clean. (-) My bed was in a little corner of the room with... More

Staying in SoFo & Medborgarplatsen

Neighborhood Profile
SoFo & Medborgarplatsen
Throughout the last decades these neighborhoods transformed from a rather quiet residential area into the birthplace of Swedish hipsterism and became Sweden’s main hub for new fashion labels, independent coffee shops and innovative gastropub concepts. Despite their extreme transformation, SoFo (South of Folkungagatan) & Medborgarplatsen managed to hold on to their residential charm and quietness and became one of the most sought-after places to live among young people in Stockholm. This neighborhood is also home to Sweden’s highest student hall, Skrapan, which used to be the head office of the tax authorities and now combines a mix of student hall and shopping mall with a bar on top.
