The location is unbeatable, everything else however is lacking. If you just want a bed, this is your place. There is practically no living area and the little they have consists of three tables. But you're in Stockholm so who cares. Kitchen is okay though. We booked the entire Hostel for the weekend and they left it to us, which...

My friend and I arrived for a two night stay at the hostel. We forked out that bit extra for a private twin room, thinking this would be the better option. Sadly, it was not. Upon arrival, we had to wait quite a while due to the extremely limited reception times. In addition to the price of the room, we...

My brother and I ended up booking this hostel last minute as we couldn't find any reasonably priced accommodation when we booked a spur of the moment trip to Stockholm. I liked the location a lot, along the water, and in the old town, and the structure itself, though dated and in need of some maintenance, has character, and feels...

The location is the only good thing about this hostel. The kitchen is extremely cramped and not fit for more than 1 person cooking. Only 2 plates on the stove. Everything is dirty, the kitchen utensils, the floor, the toilets, the showers... There are only 2 toilets in the whole hostel! So as you can imagine there is always a...

The reviews to date were not great but the location seemed ideal. This coupled with the fact that it appeared the place was under new management made us take the risk, it had issues in the past but maybe these had been taken care of... The answer a definitive no. The place is dirty and the floor so bad that...

Stayed at the hostel for 3 night with a friend in a 2 bed private room. Dockside is small and private, no more than 12 rooms both private rooms and dormitories. I thought personally, the hostel wasn't a great place to meet people as there was little leisure space and most people seemed to use the hostel purely as a...

+ Amazing location (Gamla stan, old town, 5 min from Sodermalm). Nice wallpaper in the toilet. - Only 2 toilets. Only 2 showers, located downstairs, not that clean. Holes in the floor (the one was just under the bed's leg). Poor Wi-Fi quality (when there's a lot of people online, it doesn't work).

We've had a nice stay at Dockside. The hostel is rather small and essential, but clean, with wifi, good security (although you can't lock your entire bag: just valuables, and you have to bring your own padlock!) and nice people around. The kitchen is very small and there are only two toilets, but this hasn't been a problem during our...

Pros: amazing location. Cons: Not enough toilets. Dirty/leaking showers. No soap to wash hands in the toilet. Wi-Fi not working. No curtain over dorm room window. Kitchen facilities poor. Staff only available a few hours each day leaving new guests unable to gain access to their dorm. Staff not available on emergency phone line. Stockholm is a lovely place to...

Overall, worst hostel I've ever stayed at! It was dirty, and only 2 toilets... staff is there only in a small window of time each day so there's no one around to help. Toilet paper ran out practically everyday and the lights in our room were broken. They were renovating the showers area so it made the place feel messy...

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighborhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.

“Yes, make sure you get a room up on the ground floor and not in the basement. But the window was nice but noisy from the street, so if that bothers you choose another room.”
