We started visiting as a stop over and it's now become our final holiday destination. It's unbeatable in the Karoo. From when you arrive PC, Mariska and their four daughters make you feel at home. There's even an honesty bar. The rooms are super comfortable and very well equipped. There's even a luxury tent option which is great for families....

Thank you for the amazing stay! Such a beautiful house, friendly people and family atmosphere. I'm blessed to have made this great experience. The trip to the hippos on the pickup car was as amazing as the food. Thanks a lot for everything!

This was our third stay at New Holme and we have become accustomed to the warm welcome and good food with which P.C. and Marisca always awaits us. What a pleasure to be staying in a safe environment with a pleasant garden in the middle of the Karoo. There are plentiful bird species around and it sounds so much better...

Sandy and I were travelling with two French couples around South Africa. We stayed at this guest farm on our way to Cape Town. It is the most special location together with amazing food and hospitality. The work being done by the owners to preserve the Rhino is indescribable. These are real people with real attitudes. This is a 'Must...

We could not have chosen a better place to stay to celebrate a reunion. New Holme guest farm is beautiful! We had everything we could long for, in a tranquil setting on a beautiful farm. PC and Marisca are wonderful hosts. Marisca`s home cooked meals were nostalgic and brought back memories of Mom`s meals prepared with love and attention to...

We had a lovely room inside the big house and had dinner in the main area with other guests. Very good home cooking and relaxing "feel at Home" place. Very friendly owners and we went for a short self drive on their property - keen birders

Just talking to our host PC on the phone convinced us to take the detour via Hanover on route from PE to Pretoria - and it was so worth it! The splendor of a Karoo sunset, unbeatable Karoo hospitality combined with farm-style cooking and a beautiful and very large bedroom made this experience unforgettable. Dinner started with choosing our own...

The perfect little stop over en route to Cape Town from jhb. Comfortable rooms with a large burly shower you could linger in forever. Coupled with this was the delicious food prepared by our hosts: pure and honest farmstyle cooking to nourish the soul. We really enjoyed stretching our legs and resting our heads at this little gem, not to...

If you want luxury and modern, then please don't visit here. However if you'd like a truly hospitable family style South African Karoo farm experience, then this is the place to go. Home cooked farm meals, incredible hospitality, beautiful setting and all the basics you need from the accommodation plus aircon and swimming pool to deal with the Karoo heat.

Perfect room , quiet aircon , superb Karoo cuisine. Our hosts were helpful and accommodated our every need. The history of the area is captured by framed reports to the governor of the Cape at the time , an exquisite insight into the Karoo of another time. Look out for the dairy journal , entries are well over 100 years...

The Karoo Gariep conservancy (10,000 ha) for the Karoo Hippo is between Colesberg and Hanover. We are 8 km of the N1 highway and perfectly between Cape Town and Johannesburg, also halfway between Upington (Kalahari) and PE (Garden Route); this make us the perfect halfway break in South Africa. You can explore the central Karoo using us as a basis, we have the Sea Caw Vally Meander which connects New Bethesda to Hanover and Colesberg by dirt road. These roads can be enjoyed by car as well as on mountain bike. Tourist friendly establishments are listed and work together in a communal afford. Our activities include early morning birding drives, horse riding, stargazing from our star deck, hippo drives, Koi etchings, mountain bike trails and more. There are three lodges on the conservancy to choose from. Mieliefontein, with Ian and Elma, New Holme with P.C. and Marisca are our self catering lodge Wolmado (managed by Elma) New Holme and Mieliefontein are 4 star and a pleasure to stay in.
