The Ionis is a basic hotel but has all the facilities including excellent Wifi and a fridge in each room. Very well run and the staff could not be more helpful. Situated in quiet location and a hire car is advisable as mos taverns are around two kilometers from the hotel.

We booked this hotel based on previous reviews 1 year before going out. I have to say we were not disappointed. This is a small hotel 27 rooms I believe, it is bed and breakfast 2 stars. The rooms are adequate for what you need, a large double bed (a little hard on the mattress) 2 bedside cabinets, a small mini fridge, dressing table, a large tv mounted on to the wall opposite the bed, small shower room with sink and toilet. We also had a balcony with table and 2 chairs. Air con and safe provided free of charge! The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and our sheets towels were changed every 2nd day which most surprised me. The room and balcony was cleaned every day. Our breakfast was a cold buffet breakfast and enough to choose from and as much or as little as you wanted. With tea coffee and juice. Illias and Perry are the owners husband and wife team, between them they offer a wonderful service, they are on hand if you need anything or even advice re car hire, restaurants, or ideas of days out or even the use of iron and ironing board! Whilst we were there we had the devastating storm which affected the island, on the Friday we were advised not to go out but to stay in. Ilia’s and Perry provided breakfast lunch and tea free of charge with soft drinks and beer and I think some wine. I cannot believe that this hotel only gets a 2 star rating as they really deserve so much more. Also ilias told us whilst we were there that jet2 have dropped them from there programme for 2021, please guys if you want to holiday here contact ilias and Perry direct via their website. When we holidayed here we entered strangers and we left as friends. Thankyou ilias, Perry , papa , and children we loved our holiday.

We arrived to friendly welcome at the hotel & directed to our room. We had a clean double room overlooking the garden/pool area. Fantastic pool area with bar & light meals are available during the day. The hotel is a family run business and you feel part of the family while staying. The area surrounding the hotel has limited restaurants nearby but if you hire a car this enables you to get about with ease. The hotel can assist you with the hire. We enjoyed staying here away from the main resorts and a more local Greek feel. Our hosts could not have been more accommodating during the Ionian Cyclone which meant we were indoors for nearly 48hours during the storm. Lovely place to stay.

Because of covid 19 we decided to seek out a quiet family run hotel in a quiet village. Of course a low infection rate was also vital. There have been hardly any infections in Kefalonia. We soon found the Ionis hotel on Tripadvisor. All those five star reviews are justified! The hotel is a fairly simple place, rated two stars by the Greek authorities. What is five star is the wonderful service and attention to detail of Ilias, Peri and their family. Cleanliness levels are superb. The pool is large and superbly maintained. Breakfast is simple but generous. You select what you want and they serve it for you to avoid any risks that buffet service might entail.Ilias is unbelievably generous with his offers of transport to nearby restaurants, very helpful as some of the best ones are up a very steep hill. The rooms are adequately sized and comfortable, with balconies. The family serve tasty lunches and drinks at the pool bar.. We hired a car for a week to explore the stunningly beautiful island but were more than happy at the pool for the rest of our stay. The Ionis usually attracts people in their fifties and sixties. Because of the Covid situation some younger couples ended up at the hotel simply because it was somewhere they were allowed to go by the UK government. They seemed to love the place! Hopefully more younger people will stay in the future. No discos nearby though so Peretata is definitely a place for people who want a quiet holiday with good restaurants in the area.

We arrived and made very welcome on signing in. the room was kept clean throughout and bed linen changed often we had 11 nights there and illias and his family work very hard to make sure holidaymakers enjoy themselves. They booked tables for us at the restaurants near the castle and provided transport. I was very surprised to see that jet2 have not put the hotel in their brochure for next summer.. We look forward to seeing you all again. Bill & Chris.
