This looks a lovely place - if u like very tiny rooms, but at least my room (n. 10) needs a lot of minor repairs. Shower without courtain, old beds, window's courtain that did not close down, TV with only Swedish channels (altough in the information sheet also BBC had to be available), etc.. Two paintings as decoration, probably worth... More

The hotel is small charm hotel. Our room was located in the building, yard. The building was old but renovated. The toilet was retro and the decor had a touch of country. The beds were good to sleep. Breakfast was excellent. The atmosphere was cozy and idyllic. We will come here again for sure. Especially in the summer the courtyard... More

I was driving through Sweden and Finland to get to the northern part of Norway. Last minute before driving of, I decided to sleep at a hotel along the way and chose Umeå as my destination. Hotell Pilen made it possible to arrive late, something I value. I booked a room and minutes later everything was set. I received an... More

This is a small budget boutique hotel staff I met with very friendly and helpful. The rooms are a reasonable size. I stayed in a single but it had a private bathroom and toilet. Breakfast was good and it less than £50 per night it was good value for money.

Our room was a mix of 70's and contemporary. Although the bathroom was dated it was still clean and tidy with a new shower. The room was also a bit rough around the corners in some ways but charming with good beds and beddings. They have a very nice breakfast area where they serve a good breakfast with fresh waffles... The Hotell Pilen is a reasonably good deal in Umea. I was fortunate to have a spacious double room with its own WC, as I'm pretty sure that's not the case for each room. The complementary breakfast is nice with quite a few options. Be aware that it's a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre. Nevertheless, there are a... More

I am right now in the hotel. I came to Umea for a summer-school-conference. The organiser booked this hotel for participants. My first room was 2.5*2.5 m2, with shared bathroom. There was a small windows without any good view. The window's cover didn't work so I couldn't sleep the first night almost at all. Because it never gets dark. The... More

I really loved the "cosy" look on the website and was really excited with the pretty good reviews I thought "we found a hidden gem!" When we got there it was 3pm after traveling for about 24, I thought it was picturesque, but the inside was not at all as I expected. The washroom smelled and the toilet was SO... More

A lovely little quaint hotel near city centre and university. Staff were lovely and definitely made you feel welcome. The only downside was the smell from the drain in the bathroom. That aside this was the perfect hotel. Breakfast was good and free waffles and coffee were offered in the afternoons. Shame they had no rooms available on this last... More

We booked this hotel because literally every other hotel in Umeå was occupied. We didn't expect much but were really pleasantly surprised! The room was nice and spacious, the staff friendly, the grounds lovely and the breakfast tasty. Apparently they offer complimentary waffles in the afternoon but unfortunately we weren't able to try them this time around. Considering the affordable... More
