Structure in a wonderful position in front of a frozen lake, you feel totally immersed in nature and it is a good location to see the aurora.
Kiruna can be reached in 10 minutes by car. We opted for a bungalow with an internal bathroom, 2 rooms (1 very small but we were late to book and it was the only solution available) a small living room and kitchen, well heated and with everything you need. We rented sheets and they were spotless.
The staff is always very kind and ready to help you with anything.
In the camp the guest must independently take care of the cleaning of his cabin and the common areas used, we found great education and respect for others.
Excursions with dogs and snowmobiles are well organised.

I was super surprised how nice the staff was. They tried to help with everything you could imagine. I rarely experienced this much of effort.
I Booked a snowmobile tour, a tour to the Icehotel and rented some skis to explore the frozen lake. I can reccomend all of these things.
The location itself is great, especially with the lake which is frozen during the winter and the swimming sauna.
Perhaps the only negative point was because of my room. I stayed in the hostel and one group was quite loud during the night. You can hear it really well so a hut would be better to have a quite night.

My experience in camp alta was great!I went there with 3 friends and i had a really good time. The place was incredible , the 'snicy' lake with the forest was a remarkable combination to have as a view. Our walk on the lake and the forest was a life experience and i will remember it for a long time! U had a lot of things to do like walking ,fishing, sauna, catch up with other guys , but if u wanted to do all the activities like dog sledge or snowmobile (which seemed to be really amazing) u had to be there with a lot of money! At the night because the place was really flat , we were in a very good place to see the northern lights (which we did)!Being in that place was like having a dream come true! The hospitallity was very good thanks to the big fella Armando who was one of the purest and better guys I have ever met!The only 'buts' were that wc and bathrooms was not private , u had to bring your own food there and cook it and also the spicy prices for the extra activities.Special respect to Armando, the guy for ski and snow mobile who was really willing to help you and make your experience even better and also was a very humble and funny guy to hung out with! You have to go there for sure!

My friend and I stayed in Camp Alta from 8-11 March with a group organized by 90degreesNorth. We had such a great time there riding snowmobiles, doing a dog sledge tour, going around the frozen lake with crosscountry skis and even seeing the Northern lights! The camp also has a great sauna which we used daily! Don't forget to bring your own food which can be prepared in the shared/own kitchen. Big thanks for the service to Korbi from 90degreesNorth and Armando from Camp Alta who gave us an awesome snowmobile tour!

Thursday 28th May to Friday 29th May 2020. This camp is described as an artic wilderness and it is quite spectacular. My memories will forever have this place etched upon them, partly for its Lake Altajärvi in the process of melt, but still half a meter thick when you get a few meters offshore, but mostly for my first experience of the midnight sun.
The cabin was as basic as you can get, but really cheap. The toilet block and shared kitchen, just 30 meters away from our waterside cabin, was functional but its significance was severely dimmed against the sheer beauty of this northern paradise. Once again, we used our own bedding and towels.
Bed and Breakfast in Sweden is odd, from an English standpoint. Sometimes towels, sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers are provided, sometimes not (you always get the duvets and pillows). When travelling you need to have all this stuff with you. This is one of four overnight stops and four reviews during our trip from Hargshamn to Kiruna and back where we experienced every variation of facility.
Our evening meal was in the Bishops Arms in Kiruna, almost an English pub with Guinness (the beer similarity ends there) and really, I mean really good fish and chips. The boss had a beef stew.
We did our own breakfast in the well-appointed shared facility.
Verdict: Staggeringly beautiful, would definitely come again, but with upgraded accommodation as they do have larger cabins.
Price: Accommodation only (£34.53) (SEK 399.91).

We had an unforgettable experience at camp alta thanks to our guide armando! We had loads of fun driving the show mobile through the forest and on the frozen lakes. Armando was really reassuring when expressing i was a little bit nervous in the beginning. He made me feel safe and was ok me driving at my own pace. Me and my daughter enjoyed the snow mobile so so much!!! Allong the way to the ice hotel we come across a reindeer and iets calf. The calf got stuck in the snow and armando picked it up and returned of to its mother. What an experience!!!! At night we again were Lucky and caught a glimpse of the northern lights thanks to the observing eye and good camera work of armando. Our day at camp alta is one we will never forget. Armando, camp alta, see you soon!!! We want to experience the rest at camp alta and kiruna 😉

The place is really beautiful and yes, we saw the northern lights, which is what we were looking for.
Cabin for two, exactly D3. The equipment of the cabin, correct, as indicated. The cleanliness of the cabin, much to be desired. I understand that we all collaborate in leaving everything clean but there is dirt from not vacuuming properly and lack of sanitation. There is a good draft coming through the windows and the blinds that move from the air could have been changed or cleaned, because they are really dirty, not from use. I really think that the owners, in this aspect, must improve.
The facilities, well described, for common use, the kitchen good, but the showers need a good cleaning and disinfection. A lot. They have left me a lot to be desired. I wasn't cold, which was positive.
We hired a 32km motorcycle excursion, what they do not indicate in the description of the activity is that they leave/force you to spend almost 4 hours in a town with little to do. The ice hotel was spectacular, but the Sami people had better value if they entered, I felt cheated. Since they force you to be there, I had to pay €40 for eating poorly and that annoys me, (there were people who had to endure hunger because they didn't eat) I spend the money where I want and when I want, they don't specify that in the conditions of the excursion. It is wrong and I think you should improve this aspect. In reality, the motorcycle excursion is reduced to 1 hour there and 1 hour back and could be much more critical, I didn't like it at all, to be honest.
The attention of the people was very good, they helped us when we needed it and we felt well cared for.

Fantastic (short) stay at Camp Alta! The staff is incredibly welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend Sofien, who became a friend. The camp is situated on a lake, with good access to trails and partnerships with husky tours etc. There is a wide variety of cabins/rooms/houses to suit every group/couple/solo traveller.

There is a sense of community in the camp, and exchange between travellers makes for a rich humane experience.

The camp also does airport shuttle which is necessary in this wild region.

No oven in the biggest cabin.
No cleaning before our arrival.
Dirty cutlery and pans.
Friendly staff.
Very unfriendly boss.
Abisko Tour is not worth the money. Rip off. With 16 people we paid 140 euros per person for two taxis and a wooden cabin in the wilderness that is not even suitable for more than 6 people.

We spent 3 days in Camp Alta in the small cabin. We saw northern lights both nights and it was absolutely amazing. The room (for 2) was really warm and comfy, the saunas were incredible with the access to the lake water and the common area really nice. The staff was charming and the snowmobile instructor was particularly cool and comprehensible. The 6 hours ride in snowmobile was the best part of the trip: we saw some really incredible landscapes. Highly recommend this place for an affordable but still memorable trip to Swedish Lapland!

Answer to the comment “Awful night” in the Lodge cabin, sent in to Tripadvisor. Camp Alta is a beautiful campsite situated in the nature close to the forest and to the Lake Alttajärvi, the Camp has different standards and sizes of cabins. The larger cabins have toilet, shower and kitchen inside, the smaller cabins have to use a service-building and 2 wood heated saunas, this summer we have started to take motorhomes and tent campers also. We can see that we need more showers and toilets, so we have begun building a new service-building with 3 extra showers (inc. Disabled Access), more cooking and washing facilities so as to offer a better service for the guests. It will be ready for this winter season. About the Lodge cabin: The Lodge cabin is a charming forest cabin with 3-beds, the cabin is built with old rounded timbers, the size of the cabin is around 12 m2 and has a wood heated stove, cooking plate, microwave ,boiler for water, refrigerator, TV , cutlery and crockery are present as the cabin is self-housekeeping. The guests who book the Lodge cabin have to walk about 30 meter to the toilet and the shower and about 20 meter to the small sauna and about 30 meter to the floating sauna on the lake. Of course mosquitos can easily get in any forest cabin if you leave the door or the windows open in the evening especially if it´s an evening with lots of mosquitos outside (this happens sometimes here in Lapland !). Regarding the bad smell in the cabin, you were correct, it was one of the 3 blankets in the cabin which was smelling sour, probably the previous guests have spilled out something on it (I´m really sorry that I have missed it when I have been checking and cleaning the cabin). Please note I was asking the new incoming guest about the problem you had with the mosquitos and I told them ensure that they close the door and the windows in the evening!!! Next morning I asked her how it was through the night and they said: There were Zero mosquitos in the cabin !!!. I should be really thankful if the guests who have some complaints come to me first so we can resolve any problems here directly, I could change the blanket and I could get something against mosquitos if required. As you can see from nearly all of our reviews, we, as a company go out of our way and always try our hardest to ensure our guests have a fantastic time and are comfortable at Camp Alta. Whilst it is our business, it is also our Passion and we get great satisfaction ensuring the guests are well looked after. I attach some pictures from the lodge cabin.
