We got a Northern Lights tour, which was an absolute disappointment. Be prepared to waste 250 euros (two people), in case, you don't see polar lights and drive around for 4-5 hours. Camp Caroli shall reconsider charging customers full price for nothing, and, LET THEM KNOW all details IN ADVANCE. Paying only for gas expenses would be acceptable. Also, there was no lodge with drinks mentioned in the ad. If you have a car, download special apps - off to go.

Response from Daniel Törnkvist, General Manager at Camp Caroli
Responded Jun 17, 2022
Hi, Thank you for your review and giving us the opportunity to respond. Let me start off by saying I am sorry to hear that the two of you did not get to see any Northern Lights during your tour with us. As I am sure you are aware Northern Lights are a weather phenomenon and can never be guaranteed. In regard to the 2 different tour options on our webpage; The tour up to Björkliden ( where we sit in the lodge and drinks can be purchased ) was not the tour you were on. The tour you had was the 2-4 hour tour by mini van where we go hunting for the lights either by snowmobile or minivan depending on how to easiest reach the place where the lights might appear. By your description of the tour that you were driving around for 4-5 hours I can only hear that our guide did a huge effort and went above and beyond for you to see the lights. Once again, I am sorry to hear that you did not get to see any Northern Lights. This is Mother Nature and unfortunately nothing our guide can affect.

We stayed in Camp Caroli for 3 nights, and safe to say it was one of the best trips we’ve ever done! The cabin was super warm and cozy, Stefan was very helpful and kind, and the activities (dog sledding, snowmobile, northern lights tour) were truly magical. The camp is located by the lake and offers an incredible view. All in all, it was a stay that even exceeded our expectations and that we can only recommend! 10/10, would love to visit again

Our stay at Camp Caroli couldn't have been better. Stefan is a very friendly host, he's always doing his best to help you and make sure you have the greatest time. The cabin is very cozy and well-equipped. The location nearby the lake is breathtaking, perfect for a wild walk and discover the nature around. 10/10

We stayed at Camp Caroli to celebrate my 40 year birthday and watch Aurora Borealis. We had 2 out of 3 nights with amazing views of Aurora over the frozen lake. The camp has the best view of Aurora in the whole Kiruna and Jukkasjärvi. We stayed as family of four, 2 adults, two kids. The huts are cozy and very kids friendly. Despite -20C outside it felt warm inside. We also used sauna and enjoyed grilling of marshmallows on the open fire while watching Aurora above our heads. The host, Stefan, is really friendly and accommodating. We did not have a car on our visit and he picked us up early and helped to come to places of interest in Jukkasjärvi e.g. ice hotel. We tested all adventures with the kids: we enjoyed a lot husky ride, ride on snowmobiles through the forest and on the frozen lake. We also enjoyed wild animal safari where we saw several moose resting or walking wild in the snow covered forest. On the last adventure Stefan took us to a lake with the view of Kebnekaise - Sweden's largest mountain. It was magical to see that mountain in winter with the surrounding mountains of Tarfala. We definitely come back next winter and stay again in this place. It's a hub to Aurora and all fun winter adventure with kids.

Very cozy cabin with private toilet/showet. Well equipped cooking possibilities. The beds got very good and warm duvets. The surroundings are very nice and you can sometimes see the Northern light. The host is very friendly and will do anything to make your stay great. We highly recommend this Camp.

We had a great weekend at Camp Caroli! The cabin was very simple with one room, a kitchenette with all basic essentials you need and a bathroom with shower. It’s located just by the frozen lake with a beautiful nature view! We went on the snowmobile ride and saw aurora lights just outside of the cabin. Our overall experience is that it’s like staying at a friends guesthouse, simple and homie. Very kind and friendly host. A lake view sauna would be amazing. Smaller things like hooks in the cabin and a shoe shelf would be good!

Me and my friends did two activities with Stefan - the really cool and competent owner. First, we went out of the town to see the wildlife and got to experience elks and reindeer up really close and learned a lot about the area and its animals. On the next day we went snowmobiling on the lakes and woods around the camp, which was a fantastic experience that we will never forget!

Very luck to see the explosion of the northern light. Joined the snowmobile and ice fishing tour, and both of them are very fun and interesting. Travelling through the woods with the snowmobile is a very memorable experience. Very nice and helpful guide.

Me and my boyfriend have spent 4 nights at Stefan‘s place. It was a very pleasant stay. Stefan was always there if we needed something and he took good care of during the whole trip. We texted already before our arrival in order to figure out the details with the pick-up (our train was very delayed) and the communication was great. He picked us up, drove us to the supermarket, showed us everything at the camp and made sure that we‘re having a great time. Another thing is that he always made sure that we have a candle in front of the door burnig and that really shows that he‘s a great host. The cabin was super clean, warm, cosy and everything was working. We had a lot of fun with the dog-sledding and the snowmobil tour. Apart from that we saw the northernlights just in front of the cabin! We‘d recommend his place to our friends.
