Hotel's Favorite
The title of this review is ‘the most beautiful hotel I’ve even stayed in’ and it’s probably not to everyone’s taste, but I personally love how the interior of this hotel looks. Those vibrant colours are one of the main reasons why we chose to stay in it. The outside looks grand too. Since the appearance is 5* I’m pleased to say the experience of staying there was 5* as well. The staff were welcoming and professional upon our arrival. Check-in was extremely fast because we’d completed our form electronically beforehand. When we entered our room we found it to be in good condition and again, very beautifully decorated. The 5* touch though was to leave a card welcoming us by name to the hotel, as well as a small gift. The visit happened to be for our 10th anniversary so we found this to be really lovely. The breakfast was nice. I’ve become a drinker of fruit tea as a result of the delicious teas they serve. Next to the buffet area is the bar, which often had a happy hour during which the drinks prices were very reasonable for a hotel bar, or a bar in Copenhagen (or both). It’s also a wonderful place to sit and have a drink if you like the interior design like I say. In terms of other facilities we used, we were able to change some money at the reception without a charge, and similarly the luggage room was free. The location is excellent. The central train station is a five-minute walk away and there are numerous bars and restaurants within a five to ten-minute walk. The overall price was good value in this regard, when compared to the increase to stay for example in the centre of Amsterdam rather than the outskirts. Overall then I struggle to find a negative point to make. This hotel was amazing and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a fantastic place to stay in Copenhagen.

Thank you for this detailed feedback about your recent 5- star experience here in Absalon Hotel! It is an honor to be the most beautiful hotel you’ve ever stayed in. The hotel’s modern, vibrant décor by Designers Guild with details highlighting Danish “hygge” is certainly something unique and charming that we are proud to offer to our valued guests. Lovely to note that we were able to meet, if not exceed, your expectations and that you enjoyed your overall stay from the room décor, the breakfast and delicious organic teas, the hotel’s accessible location, and most of all, the service of our wonderful staff, our best asset. They are dedicated individuals who are always inclined to creating memorable experiences for our guests. They would be delighted that their hard work paid off and we are all looking forward for your next stay. Kindest regards, Joyce Ausan-Louv Guest Relations Officer Absalon Hotel

Once again my wife and I returned to Copenhagen and to stay at the Absalon Hotel. As the opening suggests this was not our first visit and we are pleased to say that all the things that we love about the hotel were just as we remembered. Staff were friendly and welcoming and despite the pressures associated with a full house they coped well and still found time to chat which is a big part of the friendly atmosphere. We took a room on the fifth floor over looking the courtyard at the rear of the hotel and it was delightful. With the unusually high temperatures during our visit the superb air conditioning in our room made it a lovely place in which to relax and sleep. The room was clean and housekeeping was excellent with a very high standard of daily maintenance. We will definitely be back and would advise anybody thinking about staying there to give it a try - a big hotel with a family atmosphere.

The hotel - in general - does not look or feel clean, the carpets on the 3rd floor, the elevator our room did not have a clean feel. The breakfast has good variety... but some of the food is disappointing (specially the overcooked/dry scrambled eggs). The hotel feels like a hostel. Overall.... this is an overpriced, 3-star accommodation.

On arrival our room wasn’t ready, which was completely fine as it was mid morning, we didn’t expect it to be, we wanted to drop our baggage off and clean our teeth. The hotel offers use of toilet and a baggage room which is secured via a key card. Location is fantastic, literally 5 min walk from train station. Brilliant! We walked everywhere however you can hire a bike from reception, we didn’t do this, just because we weren’t confident on the bikes. The room was super clean and we went for the eco option and received bar vouchers. Excellent!! We don’t clean our bedding and towels daily at home so it was an easy choice. Bed was comfy, very comfy in fact and we slept well. We did ask for an extra pillow and we’re still waiting for it. I got over it and was too tired from the walking and having fun to re mention it, it wasn’t a massive problem. The walls are thin, so we could hear a gentleman snore, it was very annoying-not the hotels issue I was worried he had a problem, and then we heard the room below us being intimate! Think I was prob jealous! Ha! The bathroom was nice and big, we had a bath and a great shower, we didn’t use the shampoo and conditioner however the hand soap was lush. Nice big windows that do open wide so just use the top if you've got little ones. Outside the hotel is lively, not party all night lively however it’s busy. This didn’t bother us as we’re city folks. You must go and have a look around there’s plenty of eaters in towards the roundabout. The breakfast is great, plenty of room to sit, go down the steps to the second room and there’s breakfast in there too. The cereal/pastry/meat/juice selection is great and fruit is available too, its excellent. I would happily stay here again, without a doubt and even with snory man, I would not let it stop us from recommending to everyone. Great hotel.

A recently renovated hotel in a fairly good location, rooms nicely redone! However, several things to be aware of 1) if you are the slightest scared of hotel fires, don’t come to this place cause it beats even the worst London hotels with endless labyrinth corridors into and out of your room 2) all room facing the inner courtyard are facing horrible noice from bars opening to the same courtyard, and the windows are not noice isolated 3) and finally the place is bigger than it seems and is run like an American hotel factory, horrible and badly managed crowds at breakfast Very sad experience indeed,

Dear Harri Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay at Absalon Hotel. We are sorry to read, that our hotel did not meet your expectations for a great stay in Copenhagen. Firstly, it’s very important for us to say that it's completely safe to stay with us! The entire team is trained in case of fire and even though it can seem a bit confusing at first with the halls, we are all able to find all rooms, so there's really no need to be worried about this. We are sorry to hear you got this impression while staying here with us. You stayed with us for two days, so if you would have let us know at any point doing your stay, we could have moved you to another room further up in the building. Unfortunately, nothing was mentioned doing your stay before checking out and it makes it so hard for us to solve this kind of problem at that point. We highly recommend that future guests talks to us as soon as the problem occurs, and we will always do our very best to make sure our guests will have the best stay with us. Absalon Hotel is a family-owned hotel and has a very cozy and familiar vibe to it and it’s a shame you didn’t get a chance to feel it while staying with us. We really hope you will consider giving us another chance in the future, so we can show you how wonderful our hotel can be. Best regards, Maiken Jensen Guest Relations Team

The hotel is very centrally located to the Central Station, Tivoli, the Meatpacking district, etc. Although our room was very small, it was clean and fairly comfortable. The bathroom had an old fashioned high tub which was frightening getting into and out of, especially for someone who is a senior with prosthetic knees. The breakfast buffet was very nice and the back garden was a lovely place to enjoy it as the weather was very warm when we were there.

I've just returned from a 3 night stay in the Absalon Hotel; couldn't fault it! As a solo traveller, it was great to be given a large, spacious room. The decor , both in the rooms and public areas, is very distinctive, creating a relaxed , comfortable and stylish environment. My favourite was the cool- in every sense of the word- patio garden; a delightful place to sit in sunny weather. Staff are very friendly , helpful and welcoming. No one could complain about the buffet breakfast- something for every taste. The bread rolls are particularly delicious! The eco friendly toiletries provided in the bathroom are lovely , as is the selection of fruit teas. Proximity to the central station and Radhuisplein makes the hotel a perfect base for exploring Copenhagen. Will definitely return to Copenhagen and, of course, to the Absalon Hotel.
