I was asked by the hotel to write a review for Tripadvisor in Danish, here it is in English. We stayed for 5 nights. First room had a leaky sink, shower was poor and we could not get the TV to work. We were moved the next morning to another room, much the same but in better condition. Breakfast was a buffet breakfast, not very inviting nor safe in Covid times. So we cancelled the breakfast for the following days. Staff at reception were helpful and friendly. We found that the price quoted was full price in Covid times, while better hotels in the area were offering great deals for almost half the price.

We booked the Guldsmeden hotel due to it’s good reputation. It did not really met up to it. We got a room in the back which had a balcony/ little outside patio. It is the quiet side so that was nice. The reception and breakfast area are nicely decorated. The surroundings of the hotel are perfect. Lots of restaurants and access to Donkey Republic bikes to rent. I do not want to sound to negative but those where the nicest points. The room is large enough but outdated. Flooring is old en squeaky. If you are a light sleeper, you hear people walking in the hallway and in the rooms above you. This is because of the wooden floors. We are used to it but the room is not sound proof. The patio is not decorated and the plants are dead. Bathroom is old but really clean. Bed is ok but I was happy to have my own pillow. The room is really hot, there is little ventilation so at night we needed to open the door...that meant there was quite some noise from outside. To sum it up we slept just fine but price/quality is out of proportion with this hotel. I understand that things in a capital are a little more expensive. But at these prices you just expect more... just a little extra. We did not use the breakfast since we like to try out small local shops and we found it way to expensive at the hotel. There are plenty nice breakfast spots at only 3 minutes walking distance.

As cosy and sympathetic the "boheme style" is, in this case it really just covers a scruffy, worn-out hotel. The decor is rather new, but the hotel is not properly renovated, so walls, elevator, electrical cords, etc. is old, messy and not nice. Our room was towards Vesterbrogade, so quite noisy. Ask for a room in the "200 section", towards the yard. Breakfast was a complete waste of money (only mediocre bread, ham, softboiled egg and yoghurt!). The coffee machine wasn't working. You can find breakfast much better and cheaper in the near-by cafés. Make sure to check and compare prices between the hotel website and e.g. booking.com, as they charge various prices for rooms, breakfast and early check-in. E.g. my brother paid 175 kr. for breakfast, while I paid 125 kr (which was still too expensive...). My brother paid 200 kr for early check-in, while mine was free. Staff was friendly.
