The decoration is nice, the hotel and the common areas are cozy, they are 2 buildings which are joined by the garden and it has a terrace area with tables and umbrellas. The hotel bar is nice to have a drink. I don’t recommend the morning buffet is expensive for the options it of

Friendly helpful reception staff. Rooms quite small, but that seems typical in Scandinavia. However, all very clean. Very comfy bed & nice walk-in shower. Quite an unusual breakfast selection (again perhaps not unusual in Scandinavia), but all very tasty.

Unbelievably rude staff. Billed as a ‘spa hotel’ but spa closed most of the time ‘because there’s no demand for it’. I complained and their first response was “if you don’t like it go somewhere else.” Staff non-responsive to requests, rooms filthy. Never again.

Let me be clear: I LOVE Guldsmeden Hotels. And have stayed at Axel Guldsmeden several times. But NOT anymore. Never again in fact.

The “old”Axel Guldsmeden used to be a friendly, busy, relaxed heaven in Inner Copenhagen when staying over for both business and pleasure. The “new

Staff is super friendly, the hotel is amazingly nice and the breakfast is AMAZING. love it!! Beds are to my liking, but then firm beds are not an option for me. Shower, bath, various products are great. Nice touch with the water bottle. And I LOVE that when they call a taxi, they

Reading a lot of bad reviews about this place, is it really that bad?
No, it’s a wonderful hotel. I too was very unsure about the mixed reviews. It’s a block away from the main train station so it’s very easy if you are coming to Copenhagen by train. The train station area in large cities is always a little seedy but I did not have any problems coming and going (as a single female traveler) on my own at all times of the day or night. However, if you do go left out of the hotel you do end up quickly in an area I didn’t feel comfortable in (hookers, drug dealing, and mentally unstable people hanging around) but I would not let that stop you staying here. You will spend all of your time going in the opposite direction so you won’t have to deal with this at all. As for the noise that people report. I specifically asked for a quite room and was give a room in their other building that was absolutely lovely and quiet. It didn’t have a view, but it was so peaceful (and I had the window open all night as it was so warm). The room also had a portable fan. The people who worked here were all warm and friendly. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Three questions: 1) how much is the spa cost in dollars? 2) Is the pool free? 3) What's the best way to get to the district with all the beautiful painted buildings. Can you walk there? 4) Is Tivoli Gardens nice during the day, or more at night? Thanks!!
The spa costs around $40US, you can walk to Nyhaven (the coloured buildings) in around 15 minutes - it's a lovely walk. Tivoli is shut until April so unfortunately I didn't get to try it out so can't give my view. All in all though, the hotel is great - I'd highly recommend it.
