Only good thing is the location. For the rest I think it should be closed down and totally refurbished. Being an old structure does not excuse the dirty room . We could not place clothes on the wardrobe shelves.. there was an inch of dust. And we had a superior room... I cannot understand how the authorities in Denmark allow this hotel to carry a 4 star rating. I would not give it 1 star... would not recommend to anyone.
This hotel is ideally situated to explore the centre of Copenhagen. It is just off the main square, far enough to be quiet at night, but literally less than a minute away. You can be at Tivoli gardens in less than 5 minutes. The hotel makes claims to have hosted many bands and artists, there are their names in reception. This stretches credibility a bit. As nice as it is, i can not see top bands staying there. They would surely go somewhere much posher. It is incredibly expensive to book, we used Secret Escapes, which helped. Breakfasts are good, the evening bar is take your drink to receptipn and pay for it, there are no bar staff. And top bands stay there, i think not.
This was probably once a lovely hotel, but now it is grubby scuffed and my room was not very clean. It’s on a Main Street so always going to be noisy, I get it. But no excuses for lack of choice of room, some internal rooms were available but not offered. No aircon, but also inadequate window coverings if you wanted wi dows open but for it to be dark. During a heavy rainstorm we took shelter in the large lounge, where drinks were advertised, but no staff … what a wasted opportunity… people lingering and no one suggestion we have a beer… the roof was leaking so someone did come check. Breakfast was good. But it took 3 attempts to find entrance ! No signage and no one to assist. Reception were not particularly helpful when asked for assistance, I don’t know if they were new or language was a barrier. Overall despite location hard to recommend unless very cheap (and it wasn’t )…
Service: check-in was supposed to be at 1300, had to wait until 15:20. Rooms are terrible hot, no air conditioning ( even if it’s a superior room.) The only good thing is where it’s situated. No recommendations from me. Breakfast is ok.
It was marketed as an "elegant nordish style hotel" on secret escapes.. it is an old place, which urgently needs maintanance in every corner. Breakfast is boring, the place needs some cleaners, no safe, no coffee maker...wonder who granted a 4 star rating...
This hotel may boast to have welcomed celebrities (this must have been a while ago or there is maybe one single fashionable suite used for these occasions) but it is now way outdated. We stayed 4 nights in a superior double room with old-fashioned carpet and tapestry, not soundproofed (we could hear the snoring from the room nearby and could understand the conversation…). The bathroom was like the rest: outdated, no space except a tiny shelf above the sink to put stuff so we basically had our toilet bags laying on the floor. Plumbing was probably also from the previous century so we could enjoy showers from freezing cold to scalding hot water within seconds, with very little water pressure if taken at a busy time. As a bonus, we had a sewer stench for a day. Amenities provided were close to nothing (one tiny shower gel for two the first day), cleanliness was poor both in the bathroom and the room (not vacuumed every day apparently) and the rooms are done very lately in the afternoon (around 3pm, 4pm). Service at the reception is poor and not professional ("help yourself" in the luggage storage room). Breakfast was ok but waitress was not professional nor polite either, not possible to have any hot milk. The only good points were the central location and the comfy beds, but it is definitely not worth the price we paid for this hotel which is in my opinion a 3 stars hotel at the very best.…
Hotel very dated rooms were comfy but nothin special, not worth £12.50 a night for the upgrade to ensure a cup of tea in room could be had as choice of teabags poor one of us had a room facing road and the noise from the people outside leaving the club opposite went on till 4am our other room was facing into the covered courtyard which although pleasant to sit in should be closed at 10 and not opened again at least until 8 as every conversation could be heard and always was extremely loud often waking us up at 6am. Good points staff were keen to help and hotel was in a prime location for attractions
Sue & I had a three night stay in May 2022. KF is a lovely, old hotel. KF is right by City Hall/metro We rented bikes from KF and cycled the sights. As the hotel is charming but old, if you want to find things to complain about, you will find them. Staff friendly. Bar fine. Did not try restaurant/breakfast. .
Kong Fredrick has seen better times. If you like serious 70s retro then this is the place for you. If you don't mind broken tiles/ cracked hand basins/ chipped paintwork / shabby carpets then bring it on. This place is dated with a capital D. Felt a bit sorry for the staff on the desk. They smiled and tried their hardest to make things right....we changed our room infact with no issues. Thing twice if you want a bit of luxury. Thing twice if you want modern facilities
I would not recommend staying here, the room was not clean, rooms very outdated and in desperate need of renovations. There was a smell of sewerage coming from toilet on arrival had to keep door closed to prevent smell getting into room. Very hot at night no way to regulate room temp. Walls paper thin and very noisy at night. The room was not worth the price.
