This is by far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in - it’s absolutely filthy. I wish I checked the reviews before booking. It’s also impossible to sleep as you hear everything on the street. By 09:00 today, I had three staff members banging on my door asking me if I was running water from my sink and demanding to enter my room to check. There’s not one positive thing to say about this place, it’s just gross and the staff are rude.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for disturbing you during your stay - there was indeed a water leakage, that we had to find and fix immediately. Thank you for cooperating with the staff and allowing us to enter the room. We hope that you had a good time in Copenhagen despite the disturbance during your stay.

We read a lot of bad reviews so we were a little worried :) Yes, it’s not the newest hotel with the most modern rooms but it was in no way a bad experience. The location is fantastic, our room was pretty spacious (Deluxe Twin) and welcoming, the bathroom was huge and even if not that modern, everything worked and it was clean. The breakfast is pretty good too, not extremely varied but good and tasty ingredients. And the staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all we enjoyed our stay and we would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is nothing like any of the photos online. It is so deceiving and in desperate need of refurbishment. I understand that this is a very old hotel, and with that comes a lot of issues, but I don’t see this as an excuse for the standard of cleanliness. It is so dirty and disgusting. Mould all around the windows and shower. Massive stains in the toilet and dust everywhere. Two tiny usless pillows and the dirtiest carpet I have ever seen. Two emails were sent to reception to request some sort of compensation but nothing was done.

Dear Rulan G, thank you for taking your time to write a feedback about your stay with us. We apologize for not being able to pair up your expectations, and that you have encountered issues in regard to the hotel’s facilities and cleanliness. Your comments will be shared with the managers in charge, and we will do our best to improve our routines. We have tried our best to help you, and even agreed to shorten your stay and provide for the last nights, and in the end you have still decided you stay. The room was filthy and old. The carpet was stained and so was one of the walls. Bathroom was in a bad condition, such as mould on the showerhead. The location is great though and the bed was good. The staff was kind and helpful. But I would not stay there again due to the condition of the room.

A long time ago this hotel has been nice, but those days are over. All carpets, especially on hallways floors are very dirty and bad smell there. Everything in this hotel is very warn, dirty and tired, and it needs definietely total refurbishment. Electric switches and sockets covers were lost, cracked or broken in our room, lot of visible damage on tiles in the bathroom, the sink was almost loose from the wall, furnitures, floors, walls worn and dirty. No coffe maker in the room, the wardrobe was warn and dirty. The only good thing was frendly staff and good location. Not recommend to anyone.

I booked the hotel through another app and I had a 10% off for the stay. It was described as central location and that’s all we needed it. The day before leaving I read the reviews here on tripadvisor and I was shocked. Most of them are bad. Needless to say, I thought “we will only need a bed, a shower and we will be out and about all day”. So here’s my honest review. The hotel is in central location, you get the train from the airport to København H (13min), cross the road and walk down for 8-10mins and you’re there. The hotel itself is in a nice building, opposite there’s a bar/ club (Friday night it was maaaad). Reception staff was smiling, friendly and they literally helped us going / finding places to visit. Check in was at 3pm and we arrived at…9.10am. So we dropped the bags and went out. We came back just before 3pm, a bit exhausted because we walked everywhere and, even if our allocated room was not ready, they gave us another one on the 2nd floor. Room 220. There’s a lift - it’s quite old so we only took it once (I’m terrified of lifts) and walked into the corridor where our room was. There was a slightly smell of old carpet, but it was only in the corridor. The room was quite spacious, the bed was very comfortable and there was a bath tub. Everything was clean, we had loads of towels. Our room faced the street and as you can imagine, you can hear cars, people partying (if you’re there on weekend), police cars etc but we are used to as we live in London. There was an option of having breakfast at the hotel for 160K … many people said that it’s cheaper than anywhere else, I beg to differ. Breakfast consisted on coffee, fruits etc very continental breakfast which is fine if you want to have loads of choice and want to eat more there so you won’t spend any money until lunch. I’m vegan so I had 2 cups of coffee and some grapes 😒. The room had a tv but we didn’t use it (also, there wasn’t a remote 😂) . I read there was a restaurant but it was closed but I’ve seen guests enjoying drinks in the “garden”, inside lobby area, which is quite pretty. Check in could have been more “relaxed” as we had to leave by 11.30am and our flight was at 10.40pm but they kept our luggage so we had another day out. I recommend this hotel : 1. The location is perfect 2. Yes, it is dated but you’re visiting another city, how long do you spend in your room? We literally were there to sleep, shower and go. 3. Staff was super helpful 4. It was the cheapest option and it is worth it

Dear Silvia, thank you very much for sharing your experience with us at Hotel Kong Frederik. You said everything perfectly, and we appreciate it a lot. It is true that the hotel's building is one of the olderst in Copenhagen, but we try to maintain it and keep it in a good shape for our guests. As for the central location, it comes with both advatages and disadvantages, and we want to provide the best for our guests, which is why we ask about room preferences. We will share your kind words about the lovely staff with the team. We hope that Copenhagen treated you well, and that you had a safe trip back home! Wish you all the best, Front Desk Team

The room was too small and unpleasant and service expected for the charges was not available. Some rooms were provided with the cattle for hot water/ tea, but when asked a cattle by me, it was provided but without telling me that it shall be chargable, the reception must tell at the point of providing chargeable facality or at the time of checkout and handing bak the cattle to reception with the keys, but in my case with out informing me my American Exp card with was kept as security was charged for DKK 100. At least,I should be informed for the charges prior to providing the cattle by the reception. Even though charge was a small amount but charging from the security without pre-information is dis-gracefull and unjustified. This action of the hotel has shattered my faith in them. I can'nt recomend anyone to stay in such filthy hotel for the only reason of its location. There are other better hotels in the vicinity.

Dear Mukul Gupta, thank you for feedback about your stay with us. We hope you have enjoyed your Scandinavian trip, even though you have encountered some issues. We apologize for the misunderstanding with the payment, but, the same as we told you over the phone when you have contacted us, you were a group of 5 rooms and you agreed to provide your card for guarantee for everyone. We also inform our guests about the extras fee, and therefore, the other guests from your group knew about the fee.As there was no payment made, we have the card the card provided, and sent you the invoice. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience, and we believe that better organization should have been from both sides. Best regards, Team Hotel Kong Frederik

Lovely, friendly staff. Nice breakfast with everything you could want- would cost a fortune in Copenhagen for a full breakfast anywhere else. Location fabulous! Yes, the decor is a bit dated. But it has character. Everything in the room worked, there were plenty of plug points, and the safe was free to use. Great stay in the heart of the city, with a great book store just a few doors down 😊
