71 Nyhavn Hotel
About
In the cozy little corner of Copenhagen, you find the iconic Nyhavn, which tell stories that reach back to the sixteenth century. Meaning stories about a canal that has been a mercantile centre of the shipping in the Baltics. Later on as a place for fuddled sailors, ‘filles de joie’ and daily police patrols… and now as a place that has changed into a buzzing and culture-historical time capsule and, therefore, has a notorious appeal to both local and international citizens.
It is also here, in two of the area’s well-preserved warehouses on the sunny side of the canal, 71 Nyhavn Hotel has its address. We look forward to welcoming you behind the brick fronts that ‘reveal’ the wear and tear… but frame underplayed elegance and unique experiences.

We arrived at the hotel early evening having taken the Metro from the airport to Kongens Nytorv, from there it is just a short walk to the hotel. On arrival we fell in love with the lovely historic building and the beautiful setting. We were greeted by a warm and friendly receptionist who quickly checked us in and gave us all the necessary information. He even accompanied us to the lift.
When we walked into the room we were blown away by the view. A large french window with juliet balcony looked out over the quayside. There was a bottle of wine and chocolates on the table along with a hand written note from the staff - that made us feel very valued.. Another velux window overlooked the Nyhavn canal. The room was beautiful, there was a seating area with a sofa from where you could admire the view, a huge bed with individual cosy duvets and an area with hanging space, drawers, a Nespresso coffee machine (capsules and teabags added daily) and a minibar with soft drinks, wine and snacks. A large TV, a safe and good internet too. The bathroom was fairly compact but the shower was large. Great pressure and hot water. The toiletries were good quality and plentiful. The towels white, soft and fluffy. The décor warm and inviting and all the furnishings top notch.
Breakfast was exceptional, the dining room/restaurant on the ground floor with a door leading out to Nyhavn - allowing you to eat outside- had a lovely ambience, cosy and warm. Plenty of space between tables. The buffet was perhaps the best I have seen in a city hotel. There was a cooking station where you could order eggs, omelettes etc. I loved the smoked salmon and marinated herring and the bread and pastries superb. Coffee and other drinks were self-serve and there were excellent juices, gluten free and lactose free items. The staff very pleasant, you were always greeted with a smile and dirty plates and dishes were quickly collected.
As you walked out of the hotel you found yourself in the heart of Copenhagen. Restaurants within metres and just a short walk to almost all the city sights and shopping areas. The location is unbeatable.
I would definitely return to this hotel, wonderful staff (cleaners, waiters, receptionists) everyone we met was very friendly, a fantastic location and excellent food.

From the outside the hotel looks like an old warehouse in a very charming way ,the hotel interior has a modern Nordic style with exposed wooden beams throughout. Our room was decent sized, had a couch which was somewhat uncomfortable to sit in for long periods, a desk and chair, armoire, and queen sized bed. The bed was a bit soft to our taste but comfortable enough. Bathroom was also a decent size, it had heated floors which is a nice touch. Our room also had a large flat screen TV which we did not use. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were provided. Despite the hotel being near the hustle of Nyhavn our room was quiet throughout the night.
The criticisms I have about the room is the shower is a bit tough to climb in and out of since the tub wall is a bit high and the safe was not in the obvious location of the armoire but in the cabinet with the mini-bar.
Wi-Fi worked extremely well in our room and throughout the hotel.
Included breakfast was excellent. There was a great selection of meats, breads, pastries and hot food, including omelettes and fried eggs made to order. They also have a very modern coffee machine which offers different styles of coffee. The breakfast area is large and kept clean but can get busy the later in the morning it becomes, I would suggest going for breakfast before 9 am for the best experience.
Every employee we dealt with at the hotel was pleasant, helpful and spoke English well. The hotel offers bikes to rent, this is a great experience at a decent price. Lotte, one of the clerks at the front desk, helped us with renting the bikes, answering our many questions and putting us at ease about Copenhagen bike etiquette. Biking around Copenhagen was one of our most memorable experiences on our visit to Denmark and the hotel made it easy.
We really enjoyed our stay at 71 Nyhavn, it was a great experience all around and recommend a stay there.
Te staff was correct ,the hair dryer didn't work it took 1 hour to get us another one and 1day to fixe the permanent dryer .
We went to times to their restaurant Rose Marin, the food was very good but they searved in a hurry
So my good advice ,finish your apero before ordening your first dish and finish your first dish before ordening your main dish, otherwise you 'll may be drinking your aperol spritz with your desert.
The location of the hotel is perfect, you can rent a bicycle and get goor advice
Normally when you stay in a hotel with this price you get a welcomes drink, not in 71 Nyhavn
But any how Kopenhagen is a nice city to discover and 71 Nyhavn a correct place to stay

The historic brickstone building has its lobby and a restaurant in the basement (which is also where breakfast is served). Rooms have wooden beams and come in different sizes, ours was fairly small but fully sufficient for a weekend trip.
We had a nespresso machine in our room, capsules were refilled free of charge. All other drinks would have been charged, including bottled water. However, a water fountain with filtered water was available in the basement.
Our bathroom came with a shower and refillable toiletries (shampoo/bodywash, conditioner, body lotion), and had floor heating. It did not have much storing space, and the shower was also fairly small, but again fully sufficient for a weekend trip.
Our room faced one side of the building and did not have canal or sea view, windows could be opened.
Breakfast was served in the basement, buffet-style. There were lots of options, including several freshly made smoothies, ginger shots, and eggs prepared to your liking. However, the room was packed at peak times and tables very close to each other which made the atmosphere rather busy and hectic.
Staff was helpful and professional. Early check in at 1:30 pm was not possible given how busy the hotel was, but our luggage was kept and had been brought to our room when we received our room keys at 3 pm.
All in all an experience worth in the middle of the inner city, with a quiet setting in the best comfort.
The biggest issue is the size of the rooms and the layout. While I understand that this is a historic building that was re-purposed and not built specifically to be a hotel, it just leaves too much to be desired for me. There was a large post in the middle of the room making it hard to navigate, the ceiling slopes down near the desk making it hard to walk or stand in that area, and there was literally one available drawer and open hanging rod for storage. The bathroom also had no place for storage of even basic items like toothbrushes and deodorant.
There are no amenities outside of breakfast if you get that in an included rate and there is nowhere at the hotel to purchase anything like snacks or drinks other than an overpriced mini bar in the room.
Beware of booking the double deluxe room which they state as being larger. We were traveling with family and booked two of the exact same room types, paid the exact same amount of money, and received two completely different size rooms. One was significantly smaller. when we asked about it they acknowledged that they layouts are different however they are classified as the same room type. Better off stayon somewhere where you know exactly what you will receive for the money paid.

The staff are EXCEPTIONALLY helpful. Particularly Jasmin, Caroline and Daniel. They help you with anything and are very knowledgeable and kind.
Breakfast was included in our price and there was SO much to choose from: omelettes, yogurt, fruit, cheese, pickled herring, smoked salmon, nuts, baked goods and much more!
As part of the hotel there is an Italian restaurant with excellent food, where we ate two nights.
We will definitely return to this elegant hotel. (Suggestion. Add some hooks on the bathroom door to hang clothes, to help with the fact there are no chest-of-drawers.)
Thank you for a remarkable stay at your hotel.
