Neighborhood
Indre By (Inner City)
This is the heart of old town Copenhagen, with its blend of charming old buildings and bold new architecture, broad avenues and tiny streets as well as picturesque canals and a modern harbor. The inner city is home to the Royal Danish Theatre, which consists of three buildings, two of which are new and situated on the harbor front. The streets, squares and venues of the inner city and its surrounding neighborhoods, are alive all year round with everything from jazz festivals to outdoor ice skating rinks and parachuting at the lakes right in the center of the city. This compact area boasts beautiful old castles, tranquil parks, and bustling squares where you can always find a bench to stretch out your legs whenever you need a break.

Room did NOT have: aircon, phone, safe, iron and the hotel is beside railway lines. Hallway smells musty and stuffy. You have to pay extra to get a room away from the railway lines. Breakfast is just ok. Staff were pleasant- the only good thing about this holenof a place!!!

We had two nights; extraordinarily clean. Very helpful and friendly staff. Clean Danish architectural lines, good city access and generous breakfast buffet, but perhaps ask for a room that’s not on the railway side of the building?

Due to a travel complication with a cruise, we needed to secure a hotel for the night at the last minute. The cruise staff assisted us in obtaining rooms for the night, and we went with their suggestion. Upon checking in, we were quite surprised at the low level of amenities available to patrons. While there was a luggage room available, it was not a locked facility with access to anyone entering the hotel. From the beginning, this hotel seemed to be aimed more at a hostel type of traveler. After checking in, we needed to carry all of our luggage down two flights of stairs as there are no elevators available. The rooms, while clean and nicely designed, did not offer any form of air handling. We were in Copenhagen in August, and the rooms were stuffy, but they did have a desk fan which made things a little better. Our room was at ground level even though it was shown as a 2nd floor room. This prevented us from opening the door to the outside overnight. The rooms were also very dark with minimal lighting. The cost of the breakfast was added to our rooms and offered a decent array of food. In all, if you don't mind a lower level hotel, this would be a decent choice. However, if assistance is needed moving luggage up or down several flights of stairs, or if you have mobility challenges, this may not be a good seletion.

Review Hotel Østerport. The hotel is located across train station Østerport & Kastellet. 10 meters away from the railway that you can actually see people in the train from your room. Also the little mermaid is a 10 minute walk away. It has an easyl access to the rest of the city. Although the location is very good, you will be able to hear the trains passing by. But they will not wake you up at night. The hotel recommended an upgrade to move to the “silent” side of the hotel. We were still able to hear the trains anyway. The upgrade Includes a watercooker and tea and coffee service. No fridge! But they have Extra pillow, over size rub and slippers. Too big for a size 3 like me. 😂 The rooms are good in size and nicely decorated. When the weather is warm, the rooms are too. But the hotel provides the rooms with a tiny electric fan. And hair dryer that you have to ask at the reception. We didn’t get the breakfast buffet because 16 euro or 125 dkk we find alittle too much. And take note that across the street is a IRMA supermarket who sell mostly everything. We took a look at the breakfast in the hotel and really did look good. Parking is not a problem. But not possible at the hotel. You must park somewhere close to the hotel in nearby streets. You will pay tge same price everywhere. There are parking meters that only use bankcards! After entering your license plate number you press the hours you need to park. Then your done. No receipts! Tip: free parking on sundays. We recommend this hotel as a budget friendly hotel as we all know Copenhagen is an expensive city. Thank you so much Hotel Østerport for the warm welcome. We had a nice time staying not just in your hotel but also in your amazing city.

We selected this hotel because it would be easy to get there on public transport from the airport, and it would be easy to go to the cruise ship the next day. Both of those things were true. We arrived from the airport on the train and the hotel was directly across the street. There was a very nice store in the station at Osterport, which was right across the street from the hotel, and we bought some food items there. The rooms were very basic, but clean and had everything we needed. Three of the deficiencies were that there were stairs which required us to carry our own luggage to the room - no lift. Another difficulty with the room was that about 5 feet outside our window was the train track, with trains running on it fairly often. Luckily they were not very noisy, although ear plugs were provided in the room. Happily, we had just had an overnight flight and were exhausted so we slept soundly. A third problem was that there were no other stores or restaurants within easy access to the hotel. No breakfast was included but it could be purchased for about $20 pp. The next day we asked the clerk to call a taxi for us to get to the port, which they did, and within a few minutes we were there. But the taxi cost about $15 for a 5 minute ride. If you want to do anything fun or interesting in Copenhagen, stay in the downtown area, not at this hotel.
