We like, but are certainly not obsessed with, “boutique” hotels, so I had reservations about paying as much as we did for our stay… but we were glad we did. Quiet location is still walking distances from everything we needed, and the sidewalk seating crowds speak to its deserved popularity. Service was absolutely top notch (with possible exception of Tata Bar staff on busy Saturday night) and our 1BR unit was fabulous. Very tastefully appointed with continually refilled mini-bar and very professional housekeepers. Only suggestion would be sofa bed upgrade (“all springs” made for uncomfortable sleeping for our daughter). Secret treasure: Sanders Breakfast was “to die for” (and graciously included in Virtuoso package). Didn’t use dinner credit, as menu seemed limited, but rooftop bar, and other features made this a great stay. Really can’t say enough about the professional staff!

My family and I stayed for five nights at the Hotel Sanders. We enjoyed it immensely. The rooms are not flashy, but are more than adequate . The ambience of the hotel is wonderful. A superb bar, ground floor lounge, and eating areas both on the ground floor and the top ( 5th) floor. We had breakfast each day on the rooftop. The BEST breakfast we have ever had. Light fluffy croissants , and bacon with maple syrup, were the highlights . The location is superb. Just a few hundred metres from the main canal with its famous row of houses, but in a side street so that traffic is very light. The metro station is within 200 metres of the hotel. The staff were all welcoming and efficient . We thoroughly recommend the Hotel Sanders.

It is fantastic to know that you found our rooms comfortable and that you appreciated the hotel's ambiance. We take pride in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for our guests, and it is always rewarding to hear when our efforts are appreciated. Your compliments about the croissants and bacon with maple syrup are greatly appreciated, and we will be sure to pass them along to our culinary team. Hotel was charming, great people watching. Room was comfortable. We had dinner and it was awful experience. We had the four course chefs tasting. It was chefs choice so we had no idea what we were getting which is fine, we love a chefs surprise. The waiter just sat the food down and walked away had no idea what we were about to eat. I asked if he could explain what we were eating and he was not enthusiastic about it or thorough in explaining. I understand everyone has bad days and I tried to warm him up but he wasn't having it. Was annoyed I wasted a meal in the culinary capital on this. We also booked the sanders room, it stated it sleeps three. Then they contacted our travel agent and said we needed to upgrade to a larger room which was $1000 more. We pushed back and showed them the screen shot of the Sanders room saying it sleeps three. They said it was a fire hazard. So we said they needed to upgrade us at their cost. They "made an acceptation" and said we can stay in the sanders room. So did they break fire hazard protocol? They said if a room upgrade was avail they would upgrade us. There was a sanders suit available, two of them to be exact. When I asked about the room, the girls checking us in said oh it doesn't work for our stay, I said but I just checked and it shows it's available for our stay. Then she said oh but that room is 2 categories above your room. We didn't get upgraded, but I hate when they are not honest. In the email from the reservations team they said if the room was available they would make the upgrade available, but they didn't! The italian man at the front desk was lovely! I would say most people we interacted with were nice, didn't blow me away. The location is great but don't have 5 star exceptions for service.

We checked in on Sunday June 25. We had a flight delay and then the second flight was cancelled. They booked us on another airline and not only was that flight delayed but they also lost 2 out of our 3 bags. So when we checked into Hotel Sanders we were frustrated and tired. Edward the concierge was absolutely amazing. The airline found our bag and the delivery company picked it up and it sat at their building all day. I know that because I have AirTags in the luggage. We called the airline and they said it’s out of their hands. They handed it over to the delivery company and as far as they are concerned, the matter is closed. They would not give me the deliver company’s name or phone number. By early evening I was getting exasperated and contacted Edward to see if he could help. He called the number of the airline and got the same runaround. So he called the concierge of the airline instead of customer service and was able to talk with someone. Got our luggage within 2 hours. He also is extremely helpful with dinner reservations ( we made dinner reservations when we booked the room. Don’t wait until you get here. The best restaurants will be booked and you will be disappointed) or anything you need. Can’t say enough nice things about him. Thanks Edward!

This is a lovely boutique hotel. The service is personal, as you’d expect at a small hotel. They made an effort to get to know our plans and make helpful suggestions. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The included breakfast was generous and delicious. The locations is great, close to Kongens Nytorv/ the King’s new square which feels like the center of everything, yet on a quiet side street. This is a superb hotel if you like a place for a bit of respite while site seeing the beautiful city of Copenhagen.

Location, room and staff are well above the average. Expectations have been fully met, if not exceeded. Bikes service is really appreciated. Breakfast on top roof is more than enjoyable. On site restaurant is more than decent. But the main asset of Sanders is its staff: sweet friendly and efficient.

We didn’t stay at the hotel but we had breakfast here one morning and the food was gorgeous. Really lovely food, very tasty and full of flavour! However, the staff seemed eager to take a payment from us when we had only just gotten our food which I wasn’t too keen on. It was also very expensive. It came to just short of £12 for a small bowl of scrambled eggs and two pieces of bacon. The bill all together came to around £35 for breakfast I see that as a lot. But nevertheless, the food was lovely it was just very pricey!

We booked this hotel months in advance to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We reserved a superior room with a king bed. When we arrived, we were given a room with broken air-conditioning, on the first floor, directly above their busy and noisy bar. We sat there for a while sweltering, and listening to glasses clonking, people shouting and chairs scraping, before my husband finally went to complain. He was told the hotel was fully booked, but they would call someone to see about fixing the broken ac. We went to dinner, came back after two and a half hours. No one had even looked at the ac issue in our room, and now to add Insult to injury, they gave the room next to us to a bunch of drunk guys who were singing Whitney Houston songs at the top of their lungs. We ended up leaving and going to another hotel the same night, but Hotel Sanders is refusing to refund us, claiming that we signed a cancellation policy (yes we did, but it was for an advertised “superior room” with air conditioning, and not the hovel that they put us in.) I will be fighting this through my credit card company, which is further grief generated from this experience. This hotel charges more than any other in the area…they should be ashamed at the “bait and switch” on room selection, and how they treat their customers. If you want to be very uncomfortable and treated poorly for $800 a night, this is definitely the hotel for you!

I have had a truly terrible experience when trying to book your "meeting" room for 3 days in June 2023. I made a preliminary booking in end of March 2023 after providing information regarding our needs for this stay. I subsequently travelled from Sweden to Copenhagen to meet your representatives on site and explain our needs. At my visit the person that received me seemed quite annoyed of my presence but still took the time to show me the premises and listen to our needs for the stay. Following my visit I have communicated with your events department for the details of the booking..they were completely unaware of what my needs were as this had clearly not been registered following our visit. We needed a meetingroom for 3 days and agreed on a price..later you informed me that if we wanted to keep our material in the room for 3 days we had to pay double the amount you initially quoted. I made it very clear that we needed to take out some chairs from the meeting room during our stay...this was agreed but later your staff said this was not possible. I also explained that we would receive visitors continuously during the day..later I was told this was not possible since you are a 5* boutique hotel....(what does that even mean?) I have now agreed to cancel our stay at your premises due to the difficulties in dealing with the responsible staff and finding someone who is actually responsible.."The buck has to stop somewhere"! I would call the whole experience terrible, unprofessional and quite shameful for a hotel that considers itself to be 5* luxury as those are just words unless service and customer care reflects those words.

Liked · - Place is charming - It has that Scandinavian cozy ‘hygee’ - The check in staff were very nice and apologized for the unreasonable cancellation policy, citing many complaints from other clients who had to cancel because of health issues, etc. - Sub thermal, heating floors and bathroom was a really nice bonus - It’s located on a nice quiet street - The decor is quaint Disliked · - I was assessed full cancellation policy for modifying reservation by 1 day. Would be willing to pay a penalty but full cancelation fee is too punitive. Also, this hotel has recently opened and if they want to endear themselves to their new clientele and amass a loyal following this isn’t the way to go about it. Disagree with NYTimes recommendation. - Given extremely cramped, jagged room with odd layout, retro fitted with oversized bathroom, single bed, no room for a chair nor luggage rack, unpleasant view of construction/renovation and large brick wall of bldg next door (see pic), had to throw everything on/off bed because lack of space. - No ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign so had to improvise and staff still entered room and drew all the shades curtains in the small dreary room - At end of day sat in lobby area for drink/snacks. As a single female traveler I'm used to waiting to be served and in this case decided to go to bathroom while waiting for server to appear - staff knew I was a guest - returned no water just menus. Waiter came by to attend couple next to me and returned again to serve them food/drinks but never looked over or came over to take my order - must have waited at least 15mins so decided to retreat to my room. - There’s no coffee maker or even a hot water kettle to make your own coffee no coffee mugs which is very odd in Europe where the daily consumption of coffee must be 4 cups plus. - People were talking very loudly in the hallway at 2 AM.
