Great spot and a comfortable clean hotel. I’ve stayed there a couple of times and have always had great service and nice accommodations. The top floor has a suite configuration which gives you a large room with a seating area that’s great if you want to relax and read a book. Super for long stays. The staff is very good with one person in particular being a shining star and that’s Julie. On all my visits she has been the front desk coordinator. She is unfailingly polite, very knowledgeable and kind, A true professional in every way and an asset to the organization. I look very much forward to seeing her the next time I am in town.
I had an enjoyable experience at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was beautifully arranged and the bed was quite comfortable, affording me a good night's sleep. I would stronly recommend anyone in Aalborg for business or leisure to consider the Helnan Phonix Hotel.
I would have rated lower if I could. Arriving with children only to find out at bedtime that tap water in bathroom is grumpy and yellow. Complaining the following morning and told that we shouldn’t have been checked into this room but they could move us - so what about the bad and unacceptable basic conditions the first night? No we can’t give any refund - second night doesn’t really help us with early morning checkout. This is absolutely horrible and for someone born and raised in Aalborg an embarrassment
Stayed here a weekend in November 2021. Got one of the old rooms (not renovated). If you decide to stay her..should insist on a newly renovated room. Bathroom is pretty basic, didn't like the small cube in the wall shower. The biggest problem with the room was the noise..you can hear everything from next door or out in the hallway. If your neighboor coughs..you heard it.. The location of the hotel is good, the staff was mostly friendly. The breakfast is not amazing, but ok for the area. Had some bacon/sausages, good bread. Fruit almost non-existent. The dining area is a bit old fashion, feels a bit scrappy. Parking full. Wifi good. Will probably choose another hotel next time I stay in Aalborg.
Old and slightly worn hotel with very central location close to shops and restaurants, and the University hospital. Medium size rooms, comfortable beds. Very good buffet breakfast, better than the average that you usually get in the big hotel chains.
The reception gave a good impression, however the hallways were dirty and couldn’t have been cleaned in days (weeks)! Old style of room and cold The bar should be open at 8 pm, and not only one (fantastic receptionist) serving all hotel! Love the location, but will seek other opportunities if returning..
Stayed at the hotel from July 8th to 13. The hotel was nice and had an excellent location. During our stay the service was really good, everyone was very helpful. But at the check out at Sunday the receptionist charged us with an extra night. When we pointed out the mistake, they promised to fix it during the day so that we would get the money back in a couple of days. Days went by, and no money came. Yesterday morning I called the hotel, and again they promised to fix it during the day and send me an email when it was done. When I didn’t receive an email I called back in the evening and they promised to fix it first thing in the morning and send an email afterwards. Now it’s afternoon an no email or any response from them. I strongly discourage anyone else to stay at Phønix hotel, the service is so poorly and it seems impossible to get back our money. They made the mistake in the first place, but still doesn’t seem to care to sort it out.…
Nice mid-range hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast. We stayed for two night five persons in two rooms. In general everything worked out fine. The hotel is being renovated and thus there is currently only one check-in counter which is too little in the summer holidays. The hotel was pretty much full but still managed to get everything to work out fine.
Really good place to stay. Excellent location, close to shops and restaurants and public transport. Slightly old but it adds to the charm of the property. Breakfast had a lot of options and hot and cold drinks available. Only 4/5 because the shower in our room had terrible pressure and we couldn’t take the hairdryer out the bathroom as it’s attached to the wall which isn’t convenient for someone with very long hair. Overall I would definitely recommend staying here.
I have stayed at Phoenix in Aalborg a few times, and experience has been varying. Last time was in mid August 2019. This time we got a room in one of the annexes to the main building, and needed to go out in order to get to the reception or the restaurant. On the positive side: Breakfast is quite nice, but the restaurant tends to be crowded and it can be a problem to find a table. People in the reception are friendly and service minded. On the negative side: The room had a carpet that was far from appetizing, with a lot of stains and generally in such a shape that we only reluctantly walked barefoot in and out of the bathroom. The room had too few electrical outlets, so to charge the mobile phone we had to unplug the TV first. The room was also quite dark, even with all available light on. The shower in the bathroom was equipped with a curtain, which could not prevent the floor from becoming wet. Shower gel and toilet paper was not replenished by the staff, so we had to go to the reception to get more. Also, the corridor in the annex was dark, and in winter my guess is it will also be cold. I must add that generally, as I remember it, rooms in the main building are in somewhat better shape, and on the top floor even rather nice, but if this year's visit had been our first stay at this hotel, it would definitely also had been the last. In general, the room and the whole annex really need upgrading and maintenance.…
