The hotel is situated a few minutes walk from the ferry and on a beautiful square with full view of the sea. We had a luxury suite facing the sea which as mentioned could be a little noisy for a few hours into the early evening but it only added to the atmosphere of a very small island that is occupied by big families. Our room was large , well appointed with very nice amenities. The lounge was often busy but quiet during the day. The breakfast included was overseen by the beautiful smiling Serena who also doubles as a concierge and had our taste in restaurants well worked out. The breakfast was beautifully set out by efficient Vicky( I hope this is correct) who loved to help me make choices and whisked away anything that didn't look perfect. All the staff in the buffet area were excellent. We ate in this area one evening over looking the sea and it was very nice. There is a pool in the courtyard which looked very pleasant but as it was very hot we preferred the beaches. We didn't try the spa or bar area but guests that we spoke to highly recommended the spa.
The concierge Zoe as mentioned in many reviews was very knowledgable and super efficient at booking our daily trips and helping us make decisions as to how we should spend our 4 days in Spetses. She booked our sunbeds at the Paradise Beach resort which I was hesitant to go to at first as I love quiet calm beach areas but it was perfect and we were lucky enough to have a wonderful young man look after us for the few days we spent on this beautiful, peaceful beach. We enjoyed a light lunch both on the beach and in the open air relaxed restaurant. It is a very well run, efficient and friendly beach club. We also visited the Agio Marina beach which was also very relaxing with beautiful water and great food.
The hotel is very close to the little town which is best seen after dark as it was super hot during the day and there were many lovely shops hidden in little alleys. I loved Tsiziki which was one of my favourite for well priced gifts. The shops near the hotel are very over priced. We ate twice at Patralis(book sea view table in advance) and mostly at little Gyros places like Cockatoo. Serena and Zoe know the best places to eat. The tiny ice cream shop nearest the horse and carriage area makes excellent soft serve in cones which you can enjoy after dinner and watch people go by.
As there are very few Taxis in Spetses , I would recommend booking transport in advance.

Posidonio in Spetses is truly a jewel hotel that stands out for its mansion atmosphere and unique aesthetics. This historic building emits elegance and majesty, with spaces that breathe an air of luxury and finesse. The rooms are clean, spacious and extremely comfortable, offering the possibility to enjoy an extremely relaxing and relaxing stay.
The hotel breakfast is delightful, with careful and high-quality materials, while the terrace where it is served, next to the sea, is dreamy. The only comment concerns the peak time, as there was a slight delay in the renewal of the plates, but the staff immediately took care to serve the customers. The coffee was of excellent quality, and the Greek coffee, specifically, was fresh, just as you should to enjoy it properly.
In addition, the hotel bar is the ideal place to close your day with a great cocktail and relaxed music in a warm and welcoming environment. The hotel staff is truly friendly, professional and always willing to serve with a smile and discretion.
I highly recommend Poseidon for anyone who wants to enjoy a unique stay in Spetses!

Very nice historic hotel, in the spirit of the golden age of French Riviera palaces, but in Spetses.
Successful renovation , elegance and good taste, pleasant swimming pool and harmonious integration in the hotel garden.
The bouquets of fresh flowers in the common areas, the gallery art exhibition, the grand piano used by the pianist and the comfortable lounges also help to make you really feel on holiday and out of the present time.
The personalized and handwritten welcome word, the little sweetness to your attention on arrival in your room, match the rest to make you feel at home.
The gym is a good size (and I was the only one using it). Rowing, stepper , cycling , weight , Trx , floor mats and balloons keep you in shape .
The welcome at the exit of the boat and the pick-up are perfect, also at the time of departure.
Second outdoor pool (smaller ) for the spa, but also accessible to hotel guests.
Ideally located majestically facing the sea and the port, close to all shops.
Bathroom or shower room with sink and English sanitary facilities of very high quality.
Many thanks for the welcome and help in booking restaurants by Zoe.
Above all, a big thank you also and a special mention for the welcome, the kindness, the delicacy , the outstanding professionalism , the benevolence of Serena, her advice on the island of Spetses, the quality of her relationship with clients , manage to erase a difficult rise and give you a smile again.
Only small downside, despite a perfect renovation, I guess the original structure of the hotel did not allow to properly insulate the door of the rooms , which makes you hear the comings and goings in the corridors leading to the rooms... Watch out for the hair left by the room service on the bedroom and bathroom floor, something immediately fixed after indicating it.
Apart from that, a wonderful little old-fashioned palace, quality breakfast and very varied. A place to come back to.
Efficient and discreet staff (with the exception of a very large waiter with a pinched look and smile , chin raised , bordering on condescension ... may be the most snobbish individual in the hotel ... ).

Amazing location in Spetses, beautiful building with historical significance. Unfortunately it needs renovation to bring it up to he standards required for the rates it charges. It needs a personnel boost, it just seems like the polite employees are not able to keep up with the load of business. Coffees and cups in the huge 2 bedroom suite were not routinely replaced. turn-down service was just basic (no closing of shutters, no placing of slippers by bedside, no other little touches that make a difference), the pool area seemed to be abandoned, bird droppings on the loungers, hard to track down a waiter to order. Breakfast buffet was average, with fried eggs and pancakes being cold and with a relatively poor fruit and juice selection.

We were booked at the Poseidonion Hotel for 4 nights for a short break on the island. However our trip was cut short by a change of circumstances. The hotel concierge Zoe was excellent at sorting everything out for us to make a swift return home The hotel is extremely comfortable (deluxe rooms a tad small but adequate)and well decorated with a perfect setting on the seafront. Sitting on the front terrace was the highlight in the evening before going for a stroll or dinner. The pool is well kept and clean, maybe a little shallow for some. Sun-beds were out nicely and inviting. Breakfast was included in our stay. Beautifully presented with a mixture of sweet and savoury things classic Greek. Please don’t expect full on English/American breakfast although lots of pancakes and toppings available The nearest beach is a short walk away with no facilities (at the time we visited) but you can have a little swim and then go off for lunch. It’s a no car island so the way to get around is by quad bike, e-bikes or horse and carriage.

Magical really does say it all when it comes to the Grand Poseidonian and Spetses.
We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and wanted a combination of traditional, non touristy Greek Island combined with suitably comfortable accommodation and we hit the nail on the head.
Spetses is a glorious island which despite expensive shops and glamorous yachts maintains a traditional element with extremely good value restaurants and beautiful beaches. The Grand Poseidonian is a gem of a hotel. It combines comfortable accommodation with all mod cons with a personal touch.
As has been noted in many reviews the star in the crown of this hotel is their Concierge, Zoe. This lady has her fingers on the pulse of this hotel and manages to make every guest feel special, thank you!
Are there any cons? The bathrooms (at least in main building) are very small - shower rooms only and service at breakfast can be spotty but as smiles are plentiful these are minor details!
We can’t wait to return and think this may be our new favourite hotel.

We have just spent 4 glorious days at this lovely hotel. Its reputation is richly deserved for its unique position, elegance, old fashioned charm and quality of the staff. I would particularly single out Concierge Zoe who has a permanent smile & incredible knowledge of local restaurants and activities. Also Serena whose cheerful disposition at breakfast alongside a very professional attitude sets the tone for the rest of the day. The spa is lovely, (highly recommend Vicky). Although I’ve only mentioned three of the staff, everybody was polite, helpful & friendly. We came by car to take a water taxi to the island as no cars allowed. Our only concern was that we were not able to book the car on the mainland in advance. When we arrived the car park was empty, we left on a public holiday (in June), there didn’t seem to be any spaces available and cars were queuing to enter. Thank you to all the staff for a memorable few days. We will return.

Yesterday Sunday was my first visit to the island of Spets, which in my mind was embedded with the Poseidonion hotel. Being a guest at a friend's house I went to visit the hotel only for breakfast where after my sadness I was slightly disappointed. I had the intention on my next visit to stay there but I will think about it again because a hotel with the glamour of this particular is not allowed on the staircase to have made in China headlamps or lanes which are old and we must respect them but we must really respect them and maintain them not to be like they are of rust anymore. If, for example, a child was there and accidentally put his finger in it, he would cut it. I think that a place as important as Poseidon deserves more attention and of course maybe even more expensive prices if they are consistent with the facilities. I hope my words take place is not a bad review. The staff in regards to the breakfast area is excellent and polite the products moderate with very expensive prices i.e. a tea an espresso and a toast 28 euro I think that even the great UK does not serve. I wish better continuity!

Hotel is lovely, historic but elegantly updated and sited with its restaurant terrace overlooking a public plaza, and beyond, the harbor and views to the Islands of Dokos and Idra and the Greek Mainland.
Rooms were simple but elegant — ours had a small but spectacular balcony view. The staff was really on top of it.
The restaurant was really great, with a delicious breakfast buffet, great coffee. The lunch and dinner menus were the same and all the food we ate was excellent, inventively and deliciously prepared classics, a nice wine list, and a maitre d’ Serena who, as her name suggests, was a dream: elegant, gracious, friendly and welcoming. My wife and I had lots of nice chats with her and she kept the place humming without making any of it seem rushed. If past visitors found the restaurant in any way lacking, you can ignore the reviews because the current Poseidonion is hitting all the right notes in a kind of beautiful melody.
Special shout out also to the brilliant and knowledgeable concierge Zöe who made the trip all the richer for her wonderful recommendations

We stayed in a deluxe room (harbour facing) and we found the bed too big for the room, it was larger than a typical King Size bed - suggest you email hotel in advance and request the same

if you want a fully serviced beach bar/food/waiter/music etc then 10-15 mins is Kaiki Beach club. part sand. if you want action its ok. Best by far is the Zogeria Beach. 20 mins by car or 15 mins by water taxi (which I did each day). very nice beach restaurant (and they refused my offer to review them on Trip Advisor as they said "we've been here 88 years and like it the way it is"). Very clean, nice sun beds, the sound of the circadas is amazing. Water perfectly clean. Food is simple and Greek. Sandy beach and you can swim for a long way.
October (particularly early October) is a great time to visit Spetses. NO CROWDS! Days are still fairly warm but nights will be slightly chilly. Water should still be warm from the hot summer days. To my knowledge, the hotel is still open in October.
There are more places to choose from in the Spetses area.
