Detailed Reviews
We have stayed at Marini five times now. The place is in the highlands above the bustle of the tourists, family owned and operated. It is like a bed and breakfast in the way it feels and in terms of your treatment. Hotels in Greece can be very spartan in decor. Marini is more European, modern and comfortable. We find the family very friendly and attentive to our needs. We are foreign to Greece yet they treat us like family.
The pool is huge and never crowded. The food is homemade and delicious. Breakfast is a small but fresh buffet with enough variety that allows us to stay for a week and not grow tired of the choices. The view of the water and sunset is amazing despite being up the hill and not on the beach.
The ride to the port takes 20 minutes. It took going up the hill twice before getting the feel of it. I was glad the taxi driver knew the location but have since driven rental cars when staying.
We are Americans who have traveled everywhere and can afford to stay in any level of hotel. We enjoy the Marini for quiet getaways and will stay again soon.

Reading the reviews of this accommodation I realize one thing, that there is no distinction and empowerment these days. We are actually talking about an accommodation located on the top of a mountain in Aegina. This is FACT! For any person who has stayed in a village - island even once in his life, the rough road to the top of a mountain is a thing of course. There are resorts 7 stars with respective streets in nowhere and again no one comment it because customers who choose this type of accommodation, want isolation and seek accommodation on the side with amazing views, without a cart tourists to do the hassle. So from the beginning, someone who booked a room in such an accommodation has made their choice. Otherwise, he'd live in Aegina's cave, not there. You lose something you win something, we can not 15 August to have the requirement that everything is as we want it!! Then, I perceive criticisms, such as "the staff is rude", not because in my case something like that happened, simply because Aegina is an island HYPERTURISTIC with the result that the employees have been repelled by the hordes of tourists and ⁇ sometimes they may not respond as polently as a demanding customer would want. However, it is all a matter of visual and human incomprehension!!! The people in the tourist places work to serve us, not to serve us!! This hotel is DIAMANT!! You are at the highest point of the island, enjoy Aegina on the plate in a clean pool in a paradise garden, green in the heat of August, companion with the absolute tranquility of the mountain and the cool air filling your lungs, when at the same time down the harbour boils from moisture and heat!!! That's what you pay at this accommodation...! His room was a beautiful, clean little double room with all the necessary means, with a fireplace on all the windows, paradoxically without any mosquitoes. Nobody made fun of us! From the beginning, Mrs. Katerina (owner) informed us that it is the only available and that it is the smallest room it has. However, her behavior, the incredible tranquility of the location, the courtesy of the staff and most importantly the love that she offers uprightly herself, were too much to enjoy our stay!! Honestly this place stands out in Aegina and is really unjustified by the reviews of small-minded and miserable people. To maintain this particular Paradise on the mountain, countless efforts have been made and this can be seen at first glance. I will definitely return to this place again and my experience from it is wonderful and unforgettable!! Thank you, sir. Katherine from the heart for everything!! :)

The owner and staff are nice, their is a bit of a language barrier, the pool is very nice and spacious. The scenery from the place is stunning but breakfast is disappointing. No hot water for showers and their is ants in the room so be very careful. It’s grand if you how a car, if you don’t then you’ll need to stay somewhere else as it’s a dangerous road very very steep, very bendy bumpy a narrow road and very uphill that a car would struggle. I want to get a cappuccino for breakfast but was NOT included in the breakfast. Drinks and food and on the pricey side. If you want scenic views with a gorgeous sunset this is the place with a nice quiet atmosphere.

We absolutely loved our stay here!
The room was a bit small but had everything and was super clean. The beauty product supplies were great too. Breakfast was good but the same everyday.
The host and other staff member were amazing, really sweet and helpful.
Last but not least, the outdoor area is perfect, especially for sunset.
You get a sense of comfort and luxury as soon as you get into the property. We loved it!

! Bad service discomfort for families with children!!! Away from town. Fake photos in relation to reality and amenities!!!
Rooms next to the front desk not suitable for families. We waited a long time to see the room that had nothing to do with the photos

This hotel experience was not what we expected. The road leading to the hotel and especially the last 1.2 km were extremely dangerous, rocky and steep. In some points the car was struggling as well as we were.. The lady hotel owner doubted the fact and was uncharacteristically ironic telling us that we probably "do not leave in greece or have ever visited the greek islands".. The pool rools were kind of military as well as their overall attutitude since we all felt like we were invading their house and not as guests who were paying 250 euro per night for a room with only one king size bed and two poor portable beds even though we were two couples and needed separate rooms. The breakfast was similar to a low budget hotel's breakfast and they did not allow us to take some croissants in our room stating that this action is strictly forbidden. They do not know what having a hotel means unfortunately. Extremely amateurish. We all agreed that booking in this hotel was the only bad thing regarding our three nights stay in aigina island. Would not recommend this to anyone umfortunately.

Marini was a positive surprice! A small 9 rom hotel located a few km uphill from the port. Top service, clean and a touch of luxury. Beautiful scenery. Narrow road up to the hotel, but it is not a big deal. Nice pool and outside area. The room was large and very nice. This also goes for the bathroom.

We stayed here in the summer and although the hotel was okay and nothing special the owner was rude and always yelling. She treats her customers disrespectfully as well as her staff. She had a very pleasant young girl working for her but to our dismay the owner was one of the most awful people you will come across. Do yourself a favour and stay far away from this hotel. She deserves her hotel to be out of business. awful, awful, awful

A very remote hotel, about 5 km from Aegina town, sitting on top of a hill with fantastic view. The hotel has a very nice pool and it is very clean. However, the road to the hotel is very steep for 1200 meters with the last 350 meters really dangerous for the car. We had a flat tire some 30 meters from the hotel caused by a rock in the sides and although someone from the personnel helped us by calling a technician to fix it, the hotel manager doubted us that the accident happened near the hotel, insisting that it happened in the town (as if we could climb up there in a flat tire).
We stayed in a ‘superior triple room’ but it was a rather small standard double room, where no third person could be accommodated under any circumstances, not even a child.
The breakfast was very poor, nothing near a decent ‘luxury’ hotel would offer. No fried eggs with bacon, or omelets, or scrambled eggs, only some hard boiled eggs. No proper bread either, only toast bread, and a miserable orange juice which was undrinkable. The French coffee which was the only one offered was disappointing. The mini croissants and the cheese pie were of low quality and they were cold and chewy, as no food warmers were available.
The hotel policy does not permit cars inside the premises (a good policy), however a car was parked in front of the pool the 2 of the 3 days we stayed there. Linen were changed every two days, pool towels not changed during our 3 nights staying.
The hotel does not offer much to the guests besides the rooms and the pool. We asked for a cocktail in the evening to enjoy the sunset but they could not offer one. So we asked for sparkling wine from the catalogue but it was out of stock. The only wines offered were of the poorest quality.
Pros: View, Pool, Cleanliness
Cons: Road to the hotel, breakfast, general services
