The host lady of this hotel is extremely helpful and kind to us. I had rash all over my body due to seafood allergy during our last day there. The host lady guided us to the local hospital, brought me food and salt water and stayed with us until the doctor said I am good to leave. She even helped us book the taxi from our ferry back to airport. Overall, the quality of the place is excellent and the host lady is very warm and kind to us. I highly suggest this hotel if anyone plans to stay in Symi.

We stayed here for one night to explore Symi. Fotini kindly met us at the harbour when we came in from Rhodes and took us to our room (Dorian is one flight up of Symi’s notoriously precarious staircases so you’ll need to be able to handle stairs). You’ll be rewarded by a lovely view from the room. Fotini is incredibly lovely and kindly bought us delicious pastries and bread in the morning. Dorian is a sweet, no nonsense b&b - enjoy!

We were met at the harbour on leaving the ferry, by the owner, who was very welcoming and helpful. Our apartment was clean and comfortable, with air con, hairdryer and toiletries, towels were changed daily, by a friendly housekeeper. In the kitchen, there was adequate items to make light meals, tea, coffee, milk, butter and jam in the fridge, along with bottled water. In the morning, we found fresh bread and still warm cheese pies, on the door handle. The views from the seating areas over the harbour are stunning. No problem in leaving our luggage, until the ferry and shower facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would have no hesitation in returning. Just be mindful there are several steps up from the harbour, but worth it for the view.

Booked through Booking.com, who, yet again, messed up our booking and didn’t inform the host until the day of arrival. We arrived at her other hotel, Symi Center. We were met there, informed of the problem and told that she had arranged us a place in the Dorian Hotel instead. Amazing service, bags carried for us through the town, even though I insisted I could manage. Hotel was lovely, set up a few stone steps just back from the centre, with a lovely view of the little bay. Room was comfy and cozy, with a small cooking area, and doors through the lot the bedroom and bathroom. Very classic Greek house, stone walls, shutters and painted blue and white. Every morning we woke to find a small bag of pastries hanging on the door for breakfast. Would absolutely recommend both the location and the host. Excellent stay!

My partner and I visited Symi for our summer break and chose the Dorian for a 10 night stay. We hadn't been to the island before - all I will say on that front is if you haven't been you're missing out. It's perfect, tranquil and a really special destination if you're after the unspoilt quiet life to escape the grind! We were met on arrival in the beautiful harbour (having got the ferry from from Rhodes) by Del, a summer employee at the hotel who had a wonderful smile and the friendliest demeanour. He carried our ridiculously heavy suitcase in 31 degree sunshine around the harbour to the hotel. Dorian is hidden away just off what I'll call the 4th side of Symi harbour up a flight of stone steps overlooking the bay. It gives you a feel of the spectacular traditional beauty that lies behind Symi's more glossy front! We were taken immediately to our room (a marionette) with no fuss at all - there isn't a reception per se - it's a little like self catering accommodation but with a family feel. It was split over two floors - on the ground floor a bathroom (shampoo and soap), kitchenette (fridge stocked with bottled water, wine), couple of armchairs and a sweet balcony where you can spot the water a hundred metres away! Upper level is the bedroom - spacious, high ceilings, good storage, dressing table and bedside tables and a very efficient air con system (which comes in very useful at night). The maisonette is spotlessly clean, totally simple but everything you could need on a holiday where you intend to live on the beach! The room is cleaned daily - always spotless, fresh towels etc always provided. We were not disturbed once whilst we were in the room, it's like they magically know when you're out! The location is perfect - a stones throw from so many lovely restaurants - the famed Tholos (actually overrated!), Odyssia (the sweetest owner and very tasty Greek food), Tzasti (a must see cocktail bar with a rather eccentric mixologist) and our favourite restaurant - La Vaporetta (the best pasta you've ever eaten). However I've saved the best to last - the highlight of The Dorian is the proprietor / hotel manager, Fontini! I see everyone on here raves about her and it's not unjustified. She is the kind of lady you want to call 'Aunty'! She's just so lovely. But moreover she left the most delicious treats outside our door every morning ranging from cheese pie to spanakopita to chocolate cake to croissants to almond and cinnamon buns...the list goes on! I believe Fontini's husband runs the daily Poseidon cruise which we didn't go on because we are a little anti social, but every day we saw it leave the harbour (AI think 10.30-5.30) and everyone looked to be having a ball! Check out was a breeze too! We were getting the 5.30pm ferry back to Rhodes so paid the night before, left key in room the next morning when we headed off for our last beach day and were given access to a courtesy room for a shower etc. Loved the whole trip! Would defo return :)
